I made the mistake thinking this was a horror book. (it‘s classified as one) This book is just not the book for me, the writing was cringy and eye roll worthy. The ending was even worse. Just no accountability for serious actions to a serious lack of control in a hostile situation. Only likable character was the little brother. Over all. No.

Was hoping I might be able to use this for some of the teens I work with but it‘s too “much” for adolescent community mental health. Kate Bornstein is straight up truth.

Bookwomble You might, perhaps, find the tagged book is a more age-appropriate reflection on teen depression and suicidal ideation. 2mo
Sleepswithbooks @bookwomble - Thank you! I will absolutely check it out!!! 2mo
Bookwomble @Sleepswithbooks I should say it does have some swearing in it, but nothing, I seem to recall, too extreme. 2mo

It's cool that this has a Jewish superhero, apparently a first for DC, but the story was just a big mess. 😞

Reading this was hard since I just recently lost my dad.. BUT it drew me in right from the get go and I think that loosing my dad was part of the reason why. I felt the grief and anger Sidney felt-although for different reasons. When it got to the secrets of June, it hit home as well because I‘ve been there and so many loved ones have been as well. #abuse #death #manipulation #gaslight #LGBTQ+ #teens #love #loss #friends #family

Dilara I am so sorry. I lost my dad back in May and it is painful. 💙 4mo
One_With_Books I‘m so sorry to hear you lost your dad too! I lost mine in June and it still seems so surreal. Even as an adult, you never realize how much you still need your parents. 3mo

Taking some liberties with the syllable pattern today.

Today's compliment:
"I'm not embarrassed by
anything you wear, Mom."

High praise from my almost-16-year-old.

With the latest in scientific research, Dan Siegel illustrates how we can best connect and nurture our relationship with our teens by understanding It‘s not “raging hormones” so much as it is the profound changes that take place in the brain during this period in their lives.

Bookwormjillk Adding this one to my TBR for sure 7mo
DavidDiamond @Bookwormjillk It‘s very insightful! Hope you get something out of it! 7mo
