so-soHaving read some dystopian young adult novels, I must say The Maze Runner is weaker conpared to other ones. The characters don‘t have the chance to be developed and already everything is falling into pieces. I didn‘t get as absorbed as I normally do. It will be the first ans last book of the series for me.
pickI first read this book in my freshman year of high school (ten years ago!). It was one of my favorites and I loved the movie too. I reread it again just to see if it was as good as I remembered it being, and it was a great reread! What I liked most about the reread is that it felt simple and not overly complex. It was a relaxing read for me, although I was very upset at rereading the death of Chuck 😭😭

This was a very quick read. A bit young, and the characters lack emotional depth. But the story did grab me.
I'm definitely reading the rest of the series.

pickAt the start of The Maze Runner, we start off with Thomas entering the Glade for the first time, as we travel more through the book, we experience Thomas's growth as a leader to the other Gladers and resilience to all the challenges brought to him. At the end of the book, Thomas helps the Gladers escape by bringing his memories back by getting stung by a griever . If you like The Hunger Games book series, the you will like The Maze runner books.
pickIn the Maze Runner we have Thomas, who finds himself in the Glade with other boys who have been sent there. They have been trying to find a way to get out of the maze but have not yet succeeded. Later we see Thomas go in the maze at night to help his injured friends. Readers of the Divergent series will love this book. Filled with mystery and suspense.This book is told in 3rd person limited POV using pronouns such as he/they/she. Good Book. :)
bailedEntering a book slump after reading The Hunger Games prompted me to try another YA dystopian universe. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed (the book slump continues). Dashner's series lacks any real substance. There are no existential questions to ponder. No political meat. No political statement. No quest for morality. Which left the novel two-dimensional. The slang made the dialogue feel stilted and immature. (1/3).

pickThis is a soft pick for me. There were quite a few characters to keep up with. The world was very interesting. And the twist at the end had me a little shocked. I don't know why, because I know there is a second book. But, when people were asking me how I was liking it, I kept saying "Hunger Games was better".

pickMe pareció una trama súper original, además siempre me encantaron los libros de acción. Si te gusta la saga Percy Jackson y el futuro distópico seguramente te va a fascinar este libro. La historia trata sobre Thomas, un pibe que no recuerda quien es y llega a un lugar muy extraño al que llaman el Área, la cual está rodeada por un laberinto… Aunque el final me resultó muy raro, medio que te caga la historia es realmente un libro súper recomendable

The main character Thomas finds himself in the maze as the newest meme bet of the group. He strives to become a maze runner to find a way out of the maze and to freedom.
so-soThis book tripped me up. It started off boring and flat and about halfway through the book it became action packed and three d so I was starting to feel it. But the ending came and it was extremely abrupt ups and downs that all just molded into nothing. 3⭐️
panThere was a maze and the characters did run around, but I wasn‘t invested in the story. I never connected with any of the characters and the resolution was just a teaser for the next book. I‘m just not curious about why these boys got trapped in the glade with an ever-changing maze.
pickThis book is really good it has a lot of suspense, drama and a little bit of mystery in it. I love James Dashner‘s books they are really well written and this one is probably the best! The characters have a lot of emotion related to them and there back story of how they ended up in the glade. Great book totally recommend if you like action and suspense

“If you ain‘t scared you ain‘t human” I really like this quote because it‘s true, no one isn‘t scared of anything it‘s always something spiders, heights, public speaking etc. so that quote really stood out to me.

🐷 It was definitely a miss for me. I don't think it was even a “wrong time“ type of thing either, I just truly didn't enjoy this book. Oh well, you win some you lose some. 🐷 Piggie from Lord of the Flies (I don't really have a favorite dystopian character but... that sounded good) 🐷

so-soThis one wasn't for me. I don't feel like it wasn't the right time, it really just wasn't the book I enjoyed. I am ugh! About it. I can't find the movie easily accessible yet. I don't think it's on HBO Max, Hulu, Amazon Prime (unless I rent it), or YouTubeTV. But it didn't really seem that great so... I don't know if I want to search for it harder! JuJu is not impressed!

Since I finished my other #AudioCommunte book, I decided to take a crack at #NovelWatchingCrew (#NWC) November book a bit early.... I have to say.. I am not buying in yet. It just has a lot of jargon right now but.. do I care? I am not sure I do. I am about 39% in (so usually past the point I should have DNF'd it) but... because its for a book group I might just continue it.

pickOnce I got into it, I couldn‘t stop. I loved the world building, the kids‘ own slang, their names, the non-stop action. Cant believe I slept on this one for so long. #audiostitching
pickI‘m only going to review them one at a time, but I‘ve finished the series. So far I‘ve only read the main trilogy, but I‘m going to start reading one of the prequels. It‘s about a boy named Thomas, who was sent to a maze, full of guys, that no one has been able to solve. The next day a girl comes, and they solve the maze. It‘s explained to them, by a group name WICKED that they are part of what they call “The Trials”. Wonderfully written, loved it
