It seems like I caught the flu at the end of my holiday. I am home now, pretty sick. Not even being able to read. 🙈
This is the house Robert Burns was born in Alloway.
Even though I am back now, I will be posting about the last days in Scotland. This is the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway.
I‘ve got a copy of Robert Burns that was published in 1943! Just a plain green cloth bound hardcover with a matching ribbon bookmark. I got it from a library overflow sale. 💚
#SundayFunday Hope you are all having a great week, and don‘t forget to tag me!
When in Scotland. Our Airbnb has the most amazing mugs.

Prompt: Love Poem
There are so many fabulous love poems. I choose this not only because it is a classic but because it states in a straight forward way the depth of his love. ❤❤❤
🏴 Have a lovely Burns Night! We're celebrating on Saturday, but one dram tonight can't hurt right?

Halloween
The mix of Scottish and English make reading very unique. I had to Google some words to make sense of the poem.

#joinin Christmas night supper.... cock-a-leekie soup that‘s been simmering since this morning! In addition to the required boatload of leeks, this edition has carrots, parsnips, celery, turnip, and golden potatoes instead of rice or barley. Bone-in chicken thighs and chopped bacon and prunes on top.
We visited the short story machine today - went for a 1 minute, 3 minute and a 5 minute read! 👏🏼👍🏼👏🏼
Burns Night was SO MUCH FUN, y'all! We read stuff aloud and ate delicious haggis (WHO KNEW?) and sang songs and drank Scotch. At the host's request, I performed a brief history of Burns's life and gave a toast, then got called upon to play the witch in another guest's trippy Scottish fairy tale reenactment. And I got fancy clan tartan cards after the lecture on Scotch.
It was totally worth missing six hours of #24in48, but now I'm back in.

@VioletCavalier and I attended the 2nd annual Robert Burns celebration at a local Michigan brewery; we had haggis, neeps and tatties, cherry cranachan, and Scottish eggs - all yummy Scottish foods!!! Also there were Scottish dancers performing while bagpipes played!
We even wore plaid! 😊
In Honor of Burns Night - That time my Bestest Book Buddy Becky took me to a Whisky Tasting & Poetry Class.
"And – if freedom an whisky gang thegither –
How do you like your freedom? Swallowed neat?
Distillations of history, language, weather
In an usqueba o barley, burn water, peat." #burnsnight #poetry #whisky
It's a very long poem. Read it here. ?
