pickAfter re-watching Dirty Dancing and a couple docs about Patrick Swayze I realized I hadn't read this yet. Unfortunately, I didn't come away loving him any more. Still respect the work, still love the movies, but he's really just a guy. He worked really hard at whatever he did, but based on his description of himself I don't know if I would have liked him as a person. #29-2022
#nfn21 Started this audiobook while on a road trip for a work workshop. #TIL that Patrick Swayze was a professional ballet dancer. He had just gained the position of principal dancer for a tour and would be doing shows with Mikhail Baryshnikov when he stopped. A knee injury from high-school was just too much to deal with on a daily basis.

pickThis almost borderlined as a “so-so”. Not the best memoir I‘ve read, but still quite enjoyable as I learned a lot and had no idea Swayze was so multi-talented. I think it would‘ve been better had there not been so many references to his wife throughout. I get that he loved her and all, but sometimes it was a bit much. Makes me sad that he was gone too soon. 😢

pickThis was a little hard for me to get through, mostly because Patrick wrote this during his bout with pancreatic cancer, and hearing him talk about how he was going to beat it makes me infinitely sad. 😓That being said, I enjoyed learning more about his life and his wife, Lisa. They had such a sweet love story. 💞I started this a couple of months ago but put it aside for awhile. Not because it's not good but it makes me so sad knowing he's no longer with us. 😓Dirty Dancing is my favorite movie and I've always been a big fan of his. My uncle died a few years ago also from pancreatic cancer, so maybe that's why it makes me doubly sad. Still, gotta finish this before it's due back tomorrow and I am enjoying it! 💞
pickFirst book of the weekend is done! This was a wonderful story, not only of Patrick's life but Lisa's too, their love story, and ultimately the horrible disease that is pancreatic cancer. After choking up during the first two tracks (love this man, Dirty Dancing was my first Swayze) hearing his voice again, I plowed through the rest of the book, chuckling along with him. If you're a fan, go out and get this on audio! So good, & bittersweet. ❤️

I found The Time of my Life to be an incredibly honest account of Patrick's life. After seeing him in movies and on tv, he always seemed like a man confident in his abilities. Dirty Dancing alone proves he can not only act and dance, but also sing! However he was full of self doubt and the book gives us a full view of the issues he had to overcome and the full extent of his talents.

This is an amazing autobiography written by Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi. The book was brutally honest about Patrick's struggles, and a beautiful insight into Patrick and Lisa's relationship 💕
Just a quick little read about Patrick Swayze.
I had no idea of the sheer determination of this man, what he had accomplished, and the beautiful and sometimes unconfident relationship he had with his wife.
Haven't finished but enjoying my 1.00 copy that I found at Half Price warehouse sale.
