And since Roarke owns half the world there are millions of targets and no way to know who‘s next. So who is behind the contract? Who is trying to get to Roarke? And can Eve keep him in line so that he doesn‘t get himself into trouble while trying to find the culprit? ⬇️
#InDeathLongReadalong #IDLR Ch.1-5: a young maid is killed in Roarke‘s hotel by a professional killer. And Eve feels Roarke is the true target. Coincidentally, a ghost from Roarke‘s past shows up. He‘s charming for sure but Eve is keeping a close eye on Mick. I think he‘s up to something - but is he the one who hired the assassin? I‘m not sure.

Although the books have been getting a bit longer (22-23 chapters) we will stick to our schedule of 5 chapters a week and finishing the rest in the last week. pickI finished book 12 & since the next is 12.5, I‘m going to listen to that next. I try to listen to 2-3 each month. This is also a #14Books14Weeks2023 read for me. So far all of these have been 4 or 5 ⭐️ reads for me.

pickI enjoy listening to these while I'm doing other things, but I do wish some of the cases Dallas gets could not be wrapped up with Roarke. He's always somehow involved, and it's getting a bit stale.

pickAnother good instalment of the In Death series. Robb certainly doesn‘t hold back in depicting brutal crimes. Thank goodness for the lighter aspects of the Eve/Roarke romance & the friendship between Eve/Peabody.
I do think we need to move away from Roarke being at the centre of all Dallas‘s cases though. 4🌟
pickGym this morning followed by brunch, a cocktail, and a book this afternoon. I enjoyed this book same as the others, though I'm hoping the series will start to shake up the whole "every murder being investigated seems to have a big connection to Roarke and/or his empire" angle. I love him and all, but that hand is well overplayed at this point.
