This was an enjoyable read albeit covering a very difficult history. I love a good detective thriller.

I‘m conflicted about this one…On the one hand, the writing was often clunky, bordering on bad occasionally, while the story, on the other hand, was an interesting one which by the back third of the book kept me relentlessly turning the pages. The first in a mystery series set in Paris I didn‘t love it but I maybe liked it just enough that I‘ll read the next book to see if the writing issues get ironed out. If so, I might continue with the series.
Happily, I‘m executing my weekend reading plan…as planned! Review for The Last Watch coming soon. Right now, it‘s time to start this one.
First book in a mystery series set in Paris. I quite enjoyed the World War II background to the crime in the story which is always a plus for me.
Could not put this down.Recently read the prequel, which provided essential background information& insight into private detective Aimee & her partner, Renee.Complicated plot that kept me guessing. An elderly jewish camp survivor hires her to decipher a computer code & put results “in Lili Stein‘shands”. Aimee finds her dead, with a swaztika carved on her forehead. WWII Nazi regime & a current fervent Nazi group are linked in this riveting read.

Starting this book.Happy to visit Paris.
On way to Lake Waramaug State Park for a swim. Then plan to hike to Kent Falls.
Beautiful day - blue cloudkess sky, not too humid, soft breeze.Taking scenic backroads- canopy of green forests, pristine reservoir, small bridges spanning the Farmington River, winding roads bordered by wild flowers. Relaxing & peaceful. View spectacular! Not much reading done!
You gotta love a novel that has a heroine who traipses around Paris rooftops, I thought that was only possible in Italy! I really enjoyed this book. In addition to the larger-than-life detective, the plot involves remnants and remainders of Vichy France and is set in fabulous Le Marais, otherwise known as the Jewish Quarter. Crooked politicians are exposed, neo-nazis get their comeuppance, and a WWII illegal romance comes out of the shadows. ♥️
This was the first book in the Aimee Leduc Series & I had heard they get better after the first few. Therefore I was not expecting too much from this book, however from early on in the book I was totally hooked & ended up loving the book. Yes there were one or two things that could have been improved, but overall really enjoyed this book & the overall plot that went back to events in the WWII but were still reverberating in 1993. Recommended.
Paris. Aimée Leduc takes on a top-secret decoding job. She finds the woman strangled, a swastika carved on her forehead. With the help of her partner, René, they set out to solve this murder, but find themself in a dangerous web of ancient secrets and buried war crimes. Secondary characters need to be fleshed out more. Lots of action. Interesting read. Debut novel. Weak in some areas. Looking forward to the 2nd book. For lovers of Paris and WWII.

How‘s your reading of this book going?
If you put any comments under a spoiler so as not to spoil the read for anyone else. I‘m currently about 37% in and got very interesting!
Always good to start off a book with a map, gives you a real feel for the place. #MapsOfLitsy
Stared Murder in the Marais, the first book in the Aimee Leduc Series which I am reading along with @gradcat @EadieB @Tove_Reads
Others welcome to join us. 😊👍
When are we looking to start the #buddyread of Murder in the Marais.

First in the series starring Aimee Leduc, private investigator in Paris. Her specialty is tech investigations, but an elderly Jewish man seeks her aid, mentioning her dead father told him to call her if ever needed. This starts a chain of events as she searches for a Nazi collaborator who has a secret identity. Lots of action, I recommend this and am looking forward to book two
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Picking this book was #blameitonlitsy and #readingparis motivated. I grabbed up a library copy, which suits me fine. Especially since I didn‘t love the main character, Aimée or the author‘s style. A good mystery should make me want to do nothing but plow through to the end. This, not so much. But, ahh...Paris.

Starting this one thanks to @Carolyn11215 ! She posted a review of a later book in the series recently. I‘m headed to Paris in April, so have been picking some related fiction lately. I also have a couple similar memoirs on my list. I‘m thinking I‘ll #changemyplans and use this for the #booked2019 #femaledetective prompt. It‘ll also be my #boughtorborrowedin2019 for #readingwomenchallenge. It‘s a library book.

I‘ve had this on my self for ages and finally read it. A WW II mystery set in my beloved Paris/Marais- what‘s not to love!
This was a good one to pick up after reading about the Nazi occupation of Paris, since this more modern story of neo-Nazis and murder in the Jewish neighborhood of Marais brings up so much of the past. #vacancesfrancaises #procedurals #dogsoflitsy
I enjoyed the first novel in the Aimee Leduc mysteries set in Paris. When an old Jewish woman is found dead with a swastika carved in her forehead, the investigation reaches back to the time of the roundup of the Jews during WWII. Old hatreds come back to the surface and the past is back looking for vengeance.
I do love crime novels and Paris is my favorite city! So hopefully a good combination! #crime #bookcovers #books #currentread #bookmad
A little light reading #aimeeleduc #ebooks #mystery #weekendreads
A new mystery author for me. Big bonus-she's written a ton of books. #litsyatozchallege
I liked the mystery, but got annoyed by the action sequences. They seemed unnecessary.
Went shopping today to three different independent bookstores for my #summersantagoespostal match, and this is what I bought for me, including an autographed copy for Murder in Belleville. And I ran into @moranadatter at two of the bookstores! Home to eat, and then off to shoe shopping with the boys...

Oh, another series set in Paris: Cara Black's Aimee Leduc mysteries. Murder in the Marais is the first in the series.
I really enjoyed this one, set in Paris,Aimee is a Private Detective who wants to stick to financial investigations, she asked by an old client of her late father to look into a nazi photo, that then leads to murder. This is interesting its an interesting time (the early 2000's) where skin heads are protesting, people want to stop immigration Etc, it has Jewish survivors, former SS offices etc, it did feel long but very enjoyable & relevant today
Really enjoying the start of this new-to-me series. Looking forward to reading the next several books. Aimee Leduc is an interesting character.
I heard about this on Book Riot's Get Booked podcast (#51-mysteries and thrillers). It was fast-paced and smart, an entertaining read!
Snow Day today for everyone else but me! I'd rather be curled up on the couch with my book, but I work from home so no snow day for me! ❄️❄️
I went a little overboard a week ago and ordered a bunch of books off my TBR list. I feel like I got a really good deal on these books and I love deals! I also love getting book mail! I've been waiting not so patiently for all these books to come in and I'm so excited they're finally here!! 💕📚
#tbt. I wanna play too....liked the first and 3rd books on this list... not so much 2 and 4
a mediocre mystery series but I continue to March my way through the series. maybe for the info about Paris neighborhoods?
I'm actually wavering between so-so and pick. It was well paced and exciting, if a bit hard to believe. It was like an American action movie in print.
