I thought I was going to have to bail on this one judging by the first 70 or so pages, but then it really picked up, and I was hooked. Sometimes you just need an easy read, ya know?

The perfect lazy afternoon…a book and my best gal resting on my legs.
Finished this at some point towards the end of August. I decided to go back and read the first 3 books even though they‘re YA. They‘re still a bit dark with a little less sexy bits. I really liked this book and immediately picked up the second one.
I didn‘t realize they all were from Emilia‘s POV, but I like her so it‘s okay.
I had to bail on this one. I usually like books involving witches, warlocks, etc. This one is just a bit too slow for me. 😕
Something a littler darker and spookier this time…shirt chapters, so it seems like another quick read. We‘ll see!
Here‘s to hoping this book is better! I‘m one of the many people who brags about not being too active on social media, yet I‘ve totally succumbed to drowning myself in Booktok and Bookstagram 😅 I‘ve seen this book all over in the online bookish community, and I think it‘s about time I see what the hype is about!🧐🤨😁🤞
My first #AuldLangSpine read and it was a great start. Can‘t wait to read the rest of the series! Witches, princes of hell, demons, romance, and murder all rolled up into one book. #ispybingo #leaf #bookchain
I stumbled upon a coworker reading the second book in this series and told her I was anxiously awaiting the new year for my #AuldLangSpine challenge to start, so I could read this book. She let me borrow her copy, so I‘m kicking off the new year with book and some delicious coffee (my favorite drink)
Word for Day 21 of #OminousOctober was Wicked.
I have the first two books in this series in my TBR pile but not gotten around to reading them as yet.

The actions of the characters didn't always make sense to me, but I was entertained and I kept wanting to find out what happened next. It's not high brow, but I immediately started the second book, so that says something.
4th book read for #OutstandingOctober @Andrew65
I loved it. Such a good Halloween book. I also loved the Italian representation and the explanations about the cooking.
4⭐️
I love Maniscalco's writing in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series. The initial book in this series is more dark fantasy and not as good IMO as the Ripper series. That being said, I'd rate this a 4 out of 5 stars. I loved the part of the story that included the backstory with Emilla's grandmother. I wish that the reader learned more of the family history. The cliffhanger ending had me downloading book two right away.
This audiobook has great narration - and a story with high stakes. I liked the conflict, the (unresolved) mystery, the family dynamic, and the tension between Emilia and Wrath. I‘m looking forward to reading (or listening to) the sequel. The cover convinced me I NEEDED this book before I knew what it was about, haha. Skulls are my weakness.
Oooh hoo hoo, I‘ve needed a palette cleanser after what I‘ve been reading recently and stars above, I *devoured* this one. I‘m a sucker for anything witchy, and throw in some demons, a curse, and a murder mystery - 4.5 stars. DELICIOUS. Also, it made me miss Italy so much. 😥

The beginning didn't hook me right away but after 100 pages I was so invested. The pacing was slow at first but soon sped up. I loved the whole murder mystery plot mixed with witchcraft and demons, and romantic tension. I liked Emilia as a MC but found her to be contrasting herself a lot, but she was smart and determined which I liked. Wrath was🔥. The ending left on a huge cliffhanger so I'm looking forward to more, but book 3 is out in 2022...
Fantastic, from the time I started this book, its been near impossible to put it down, its filled with twists and turns that leave you wanting more, my only disappointment is thats its finished.
I‘m giving this a 👍but only because despite the very slow pacing (the first 30 or so pages are almost pointless) I still wanted to know who killed Vittoria and I have to say I was surprised by the ending which is really a cliffhanger for the next in the series. Book 4 in my spook-o-ween October reading theme.
Kerri Maniscalco volvió a sorprenderme con una historia llena de misterio y de escenarios fantásticos. Espero ansiosamente la publicación de la secuela, y espero que esté igual de buena que esta. ⠀#fortheloveofbookmarks
So so good. The character development was extremely well done and the writing was brilliant. The second one drops next month.
This entire book could have been 20+ chapters shorter if one twin would have told the other what they were up to. And as a twin, I find it unbelievable that they wouldn‘t have.
Not bad as far as fantasy books go but felt like a lot of build up and very little pay out, I know the second book is coming out this fall but at this moment I‘m not sure if I‘ll continue the duology.
Kerri maniscalco has a new edition coming to Books A Million with extra content. Some will be signed. Mostly, you get a playlist, a recipe and a character interview. My question is this.... I loved the book but I am not necessarily fangirling. I own the eBook. Would you still buy the special edition?

5/5
I loved it! It grabbed my attention right from the start. Great storyline and characters. I look forward to book two.
Here it is! My first #BookSpinBingo board. I tagged my Doublespin, since I'm not sure which June ARC I'm going to use for my #BookSpin yet.
I was SO looking g forward to this book- I‘m a big fan of her SJTR series, but I have to admit to being disappointed. It wasn‘t “bad” per se, she just didn‘t play to her strengths. The charm of SJTR was the character dialogue and playfulness- you really get to watch the characters develop and the romance grow. This book is very serious and has none of the fun, light heartenedness that made her other work so charming.
Wanted and expected to love it but didn't. It was good but not mind-blowing. The writing style is fantastic but the story was bogged down with pacing issues and character inconsistencies. I very much struggled with the pacing but the story had so much promise. I thought Stalking Jack the Ripper was good; I could tell how much the writer's craft has evolved since then and it was this book's redeeming quality. 3.5 stars, not quite 4.
TGIF! This is how my day is starting. How about yours? What are you reading? I don't have to be to work until 8am but woke up at 5am and couldn't fall back to sleep so I was able to score a free Starbucks cup. 🙂😴
This is one of my most anticipated books!
I really enjoyed this book! Besides a tame Sexy-Time scene that lasts for about 3 seconds, the book is suitable for teens through geriatrics. The story has good old Witches, Sapeshifters, Demons, Vampires, Holy men et al... AND that ending, wow! I need book #2 in my life STAT! If you like Fantastical Magical Realism infused with a variety of preternaturally occult elements culminating in a well thought out Cliffy then this book is for you!
