Set in the aftermath of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, this action-packed prequel to the hotly anticipated videogame Battlefront II introduces the Empires elite force: Inferno Squad. After the humiliating theft of the Death Star plans and the destruction of the battle station, the Empire is on the defensive. But not for long. In retaliation, the elite Imperial soldiers of Inferno Squad have been called in for the crucial mission of infiltrating and eliminating the Partisansthe rebel faction once led by notorious Republic freedom fighter Saw Gerrera. Following the death of their leader, the Partisans have carried on his extremist legacy, determined to thwart the Empireno matter the cost. Now Inferno Squad must prove its status as the best of the best and take down the Partisans from within. But the growing threat of being discovered in their enemys midst turns an already dangerous operation into a do-or-die acid test they dare not fail. To protect and preserve the Empire, to what lengths will Inferno Squad go . . . and how far beyond them? The Rebellion may have heroes like Jyn Erso and Luke Skywalker. But the Empire has Inferno Squad.

I‘m a bit behind and just finished up this #StarWarsBuddyRead for May. I‘m usually not that into Empire stories, but this one was very good, good enough I might have to look up some of Golden‘s “Legends” books or other novels. I remember Inferno Squad showing up in “Resistance Reborn” for the final battle, so I had to hop over to the Wookieepedia to see how they got from the end of this book to there…. I could use a few more books on this crew.

BookwormAHN If you hop back over to the Wookipedia you can track Iden and the rest up through The Force Awakens. 3y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BookwormAHN I did that! 😂. I was happy with her and Del‘s ending, not that surprised at Gideon‘s. I liked seeing the space pirate again…she needs her own series too. 3y
BookwormAHN I agree 😺 3y

Usually, stories tell us about how The Good Guys defeat The Bad Guys. The Star Wars movies are no different. That's why I cherish the books so much. In this one here we are actually rooting for the Bad Guys. Since we've been told that the Empire is bad. The characters we meet are all part of it, and proud of that. But we still like them. Golden writes her story in a way, that we cannot not like the heroes.

We are not talking about the Sith way ⬇

Jari-chan of evilness, but about soldiers who believe in what they do. For them The Good Guys are The Bad Guys. Well played, Christie Golden, well played. I love to change my point of view every now and then 😄

I really enjoyed this book about an Imperial Special Forces Unit. The members of Inferno Squad: Iden, Gideon, Seyn and Del are sent on a mission to infiltrate a group known as the Dreamers. The mission has its difficulties especially with the Dreamers destructive and suicidal tactics.

Star Wars from the Empire's point of view. I liked all the characters, they weren't mustache twirling villains, but soldiers who really believed that control by the Empire was the only way to have peace in the Galaxy. They're supposed to be the bad guys, but I'd like to see a sequel. 4 🚀🚀🚀🚀 1/2

Unlike the first Star Wars: Battlefront, I am enjoying this book and keep picking it up. I‘m a slow read but I‘ve made more progress in this in the last week than I did in a month on the first Battlefront. Another new canon book that‘s well written.

Good morning, Litsy fam. We laid my step-dad to rest yesterday. Thank you all, again, for all of your love and support. My mom is resting, thankfully. I‘m spending this morning trying to finish my book, while my aunt is reading in the chair beside me. (Now you know where I get it from!)

Hi Litsy fam- thank you all for all of your support over these past few days. I am awake this morning, before the rest of the house, enjoying some reading time in the still quietness. It has been a long few days, and we‘re looking at a long couple of more. The visitation for my step-dad is this evening & services are tomorrow. Just know your support had meant the world to me.

LauraBeth So sorry to hear that about your step-dad. You‘re in my thoughts today 💕💕 7y

Omg. I cannot recommend the game Battlefield II enough if you have read Battlefield II Inferno Squad. I feel like I‘m tied to the characters and I‘m so satisfied with the story 😍

new2kindle Read the book before getting the game (which I'm loving) ☺ & it definitely adds to the experience 7y

This book was awesome. Some complained it wasn‘t “action packed” enough but I thought it did a good job. And the characters were very compelling. Worth the 6 month library wait

Quite good, though on the short side. I really appreciate getting the POVs of those on the Empire's side. We also see a side of the rebellion that doesn't play by rules or morals. It may not be a favorite of mine but its definitely one I'll remember.

I'm enjoying this but at the same time I'm kind of over listening to it. I have no issues with her female voices but as soon as it gets to the male voices I want to speed up the audio.

All my hold requests came in at the library at the same time 😆 so I've been trying to speed read! I enjoyed this; was interesting to read about Star Wars events from the perspectives of Imperials. I do wish the characters had questioned Imperial ethics/tactics more (how can you justify the Death Star?!?) But it was thought provoking to read how the other side views the events of A New Hope. Would recommend for Star Wars fans!

It's hard to make people like characters they're predisposed to hate, but this does a pretty good job of introducing moral ambiguity by pitting Imperials who truly believe the Empire will bring peace against the remnants of Saw Gerrera's partisan extremists, who are too violent for the main Rebellion. Opens w/destruction of 1st Death Star but is more closely tied to Rogue One. Makes me want to play the upcoming game, which follows the same squad.

Jediash1 I put in a request for this at the library and it just came in! :D 7y
BookFreakOut @Jediash1 That's because I took it back last night, a few days overdue because I COULDN'T RENEW IT I WONDER WHY. 😆 7y

I adore Star Wars, and I like video games, so when I heard the new Battlefront II game is going to follow a female Stormtrooper (post Death Star explosion) I was excited and had to pick up this story about her and her squad. It was enjoyable and moved along, but wasn't the most enthralling Star Wars read I've seen. I would read more by this author, though - much better writing than some of the other new canon books. #maytheforcebewithyou #starwars

Started this one yesterday with the boyfriend! We buddy read most of the Star Wars books (I say most because he decided to breeze through Ahsoka w/o me 😒). We're hoping this one is more interesting than the the Battlefront book which we didn't get past chapter one of.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I have Ahoska sitting on my shelf to read, so when you are ready, maybe we can read it together. And I agree, some of the Star Wars books are great and some just ok. I hope Ahsoka is a good one. 🤞 7y
InLibrisVeritas @Riveted_Reader_Melissa That would be great! And yeah, some of them have been a bit slow but haven't dislike any of them. He wasn't blown away by Ahsoka, but he's really hard to impress. I've enjoyed some a lot more than he has, so we shall see 🤞🏻 7y
annkuch13 This one is really good. I liked it better than the first Battlefront book. 7y

InLibrisVeritas @annkuch13 I'm glad to hear that! I liked her other book Dark Disciple, so I was hoping it would be good overall. 7y
annkuch13 @InLibrisVeritas yeah her characterization is so great! 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @InLibrisVeritas I agree, I wouldn't call any bad either....just some were great and so ok. I really liked Bloodline for instance, where as I thought Heir to the Jedi was just ok (which was a shame because I really enjoy Kevin Hearne's writing as a whole). Something I think it has more to do with how much leeway the author has with the story versus filling a very small potion of a backstory that is already set. 7y
InLibrisVeritas @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Totally agree! I haven't read Bloodline yet, but I agree about Heir. It was okay, but it has some moments I still love to reference (noodle scooter 😂). I loved Lords of the Sith and A New Dawn, they just seemed less restricted. 7y

I really enjoyed this one. Golden did an amazing job of making you care about the characters and played around in the gray moral areas of Star Wars. I recommend this one for people hesitant to read about Imperials.
