Oh god, they confused Baseball with Basketball in the translation 🤦♀️ Makes me want to bail immediately.

I came for Nicola Yoon & Angie Thomas but, wow, I loved all of the stories in this book! These 6 authors did a fantastic job weaving these characters and their stories through each short story.

This book - 3.75/5 -This book gave NY vibes from start to finish. The different couples featured gave real love, loss, and renewed love. I wanted more from some of the couples but I really enjoyed this peek into a nyc summer black out & young love. Check out these amazing authors because this little taste will have you read their work. #blackjoy #lgbtq #love #woc #poc #nyc #ebook #libby
This is a fun weaving of different authors telling one over all story. I think this is a nice weekend read. I enjoyed how all the stories over lapped each other, but I will say there was a couple I really wanted more from. I have read books from each of the other authors and could see their individual story telling in the grand idea of the a Black Out in New York and various people trying to get to a block party in BedStuy. #poc #love #selflove
March wrap-up: Highly recommended Blackout and Under the Whispering Door.
Wild Seed is another difficult but important book from Octavia Butler.
Myth of Sisyphus was a miss, it just didn't speak anything important to me.
And Rolling in the Deep is a good, short prequel if you already enjoyed Into the Drowning Deep.
A cute romance anthology-overall quite enjoyable 😊

This collection of Black teen love stories was fun and satisfying. Read my full review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#blackout
Loved this collection! For once, I‘d be hard pressed to pick a weak story. #Audiolisten from the library, but I‘m thinking of getting a print copy for a reread at a later date.
Tagged was one of my #Top21of2021 and is a kindle deal today. Written by multiple POC authors, It‘s interconnected short stories that take place during a NYC blackout.
And of course, Woodson‘s Red at the Bone is amazing like all her work. $1.99 today.
I'm old and grumpy so high school kids obsessing over their love lives causes some eye rolling. Still, the throughlines of the blackout and the block party kept me going. There were a few standouts: Mask Off (which also had superb narration); All The Great Love Stories; and Seymour And Grace.
NYC Blackout. Interconnected love stories by not 1 but 6 talented authors. I recommend this YA novel.
This anthology of YA romance short stories by Tiffany D. Jackson, Nic Stone, Ashley Woodfolk, Dhonielle Clayton, Angie Thomas and Nicola Yoon features an all Black cast that inter-connect to form a wider novel with excellent pace, crackling dialogue, LGB representation and aspiration that does not ignore reality. There were a couple of points where I didn‘t get at first how characters connected but this is an enjoyable read if you like romance.
Short stories aren't always my jam, same with novellas. I want more and that just not the way with either genre. At least in this case there was a central theme and each story didn't have to world build the setting as they shared it - Blackout mid summer in NYC.
Fun, light, summer read full of black joy, black love and self discovery.
Well, I lied about not finishing any books this weekend. Didn‘t realize I was this close to finishing. I loved how all these stories were interconnected. Well done!
A sudden blackout hits all of New York City on a summer evening. These six interconnecting stories tell of six different romances in different stages happening across the city. As with any collection, I preferred some stories to others, but overall I\'d say it was worth the read.
Second book down in the #AwesomeAugust Readathon! Finished last night! Two books read in one weekend, wow. This is a short story collection from a group of YA authors revolving around a NYC blackout. Each story revolves around a YA romance with black characters. And they all connect in a way, which was really neat. I really enjoyed this one! A quick and fun read.

Although it is a young adult book I enjoyed every minute of it. The stories were about different teen couples during a blackout in NYC. I don‘t know which story I enjoyed most, but they all were good.
“It's a heat stroke kind of day. One where bad stuff happens. Tensions matching the temperature make people do stupid things in a city full of millions.“ #tiffanydjackson #blitsy #blacklove

Loved this as an audiobook. The narrators were wonderful! I definitely have a few new favorites. Basic premise is there‘s a blackout in NYC. A bunch of teens are making their way to a party and catching feelings along the way. I liked how the stories were connected, but easy to listen to independently of each other. Wish there had been one about Twig- a side character who was mentioned in most stories. Maybe in a future companion book :)
It‘s lovely to see such inspired, fun art coming out of the pandemic. This novel in stories was written by six authors collaborating virtually to tell romantic stories set against the backdrop of a blackout in NYC.
My only complaint is that I wish there had been one big wrap-up where all the characters got to interact! Loved this interconnected story collection. 💜 #yalit #yaromance
I absolutely loved this book! The audio included a full cast narration with some of my fave narrators. Highly recommend as a fun romance, summer time read. We meet several different teenagers during a NYC blackout. First love, meet cutes, exes, and more! LGBTQ 🏳️🌈
Reading time with my girl. She gave us a scare this week and was pretty sick for a few days. Thankfully all of her bloodwork came back amazing and she is back to herself! 📚💜📚💜📚💜
One of my most anticipated reads of the year showed up today. I have been stalking the tracking for the past couples of days. I absolutely loved the surprise cover when I took off the dust jacket! 😍😍😍
