I'm really enjoying this book about a small-town Texas teenager - fat, gay, and ginger - who's discovering drag. I especially like sibling relationship stories, and his close but not without its troubles relationship with his twin sister rings true.

When doing so he learns how happy he is and that he can be successful no matter who he is. Whippoorwill book award winner, published in 2021.

pickI highly recommend listening to the audiobook version, it is narrated by Chad Burris and he makes it so engaging and fun. I didn't read Dumplin but watched the Netflix movie and both stories translate well beyond the YA crowd. So many quotable parts!

I loved the tasks associated with nominees, and wonder if most school require them to show appreciation towards their school, staff & fellow students at like this. Just reinforces that nominations aren't so freely given, but earned.
