Very soft pick, as the late stage complications really didn't work for me. Almost the epitome of an "I'll read the sequel if the ebook goes on sale" book

3.5/5 ⭐️ Cute story with so much tasty food. I wish there was more development with Ryan's father, but I think the grief storyline was well written.
So I liked the overall story (and cared way more about the friends and his daddy), but ... I feel the ending was a bit lackluster. So... more in-between a pick and so-so for me (but leaning towards so-so because when it's a problem with the ending that's all you can think about).
But.. I got to read outside in the hammock with my baby boy JuJuB and a nice warm blanket :)

@ElizaMarie This one is on its way to you! Sorry for the delay, it‘s been a tough few weeks. But I just dropped it off at FedEx. Avoiding too many spoilers, this is between a pick & a so-so. I loved the non-romance parts of the story more than the romance. The banter, humor, racial identity, family, and heart were all a plus. The romance was just ok for me. 3.5 stars. I‘ll still probably read the next though. Hope you enjoy! 💖🍩 #lmpbc #groupr
I feel like I haven‘t slept in 3 weeks. Between house sitting, vacation, and finally moving my daughter away to college this weekend, I am pooped!
Really looking forward to finally digging into this #lmpbc #groupr pick from @BethM We had our mail stopped so I just got it! But it looks cute & I love the bookmark idea. Can‘t wait! @Hazel2019 @ElizaMarie
Not super substantial but cute. By the end I wanted to know more about dad and Vivian than the MCs. I‘ll have this in the mail as soon as I can! #lmpbc
This is a sweet and sexy romance between a famously gorgeous actor and a regular woman baker. Watching the fledgling friendship turn into more is fun and the things that provide tension are realistic and understandable. http://booknaround.blogspot.com/2023/02/review-donut-fall-in-love-by-jackie-lau....
It was pretty cute and sweet. I thought the family dynamic was interesting on the male mcs side.
Life has been running at an insane pace the last few weeks, coupled with the start of constant cold season from daycare. It was so nice to come home to my #fffs swap! @catiewithac I think you‘re my sender?
I adore everything thank you so much! I‘ll be in IN next week for work and was planning a stop at the gummy bear store! I didn‘t know it existed!
Thanks to the incomparable @Avanders for organizing! #fallingforfallswap
Ah the things that one does for a book photo. Like picking out doughnut flavors, buying doughnuts, and eating doughnuts, all because of a book about a baker and a meet-cute where a movie star causes some matcha tiramisu doughnuts to fall on the floor. Alas, we didn‘t have matcha tiramisu doughnuts. So regular doughnuts will have to do.
4/5
Movie star Ryan agreed to go on a Celebrity Nailed It type baking competition, the only problem is he doesn't know how to bake anything. After a run in with Lindsay at her bakery, he asks her for private lessons in preparation. I love the romance between Ryan and Lindsay, and I also love their relationships with their families, especially Ryan rediscovering his relationship with his father.
Gatsby and Ozzie are both helping me read his latest romance offering.
I ordered gourmet doughnuts for Sunday breakfast, inspired partly by DONUT FALL IN LOVE and partly by my local shop‘s 15% off promo (designed to help raise everyone‘s spirits in January).
Isn‘t the Unicorn Dip just the cutest durned thing? I hope it tastes good! I can already vouch for the Hot Honey Glaze, a spicy-sweet varietal.
Solo lunch date today - so far this book is so cute and fun!
Sexy actor first falls into a tray of donuts, then for the lovely baker.
TW: both MCs are dealing with grief after losing a parent

It‘s very snowy and very cold and I‘m very sad about it, so I‘m gonna put on my onesie and do the book & beer thing. Based on her body of work, Jackie Lau is a big beer geek, so I figure it‘s a good pairing. I‘m enjoying this IPA way more than I usually enjoy IPAs, too. Whee!
I found a Tim Hortons reference for @Lindy and anyone else who collects them!
This book is great so far. Lots of funny bits; lots of relatable bits; lots of deep bits. It‘s also convinced me I need to order gourmet doughnuts from my local shop before the end of the month. (Alas, Tim Hortons does good Timbits but disappointing regular doughnuts. They never have enough icing or filling for their size.)
This was delightful - it reminded me of Farah Heron‘s writing in all the best ways. Romances with heroines who are obsessed with food are definitely my jam and this one was so cute, just what a romance should be!
My Romance for #PromptMaze. Moving on to the next square!
This little elf was wrapping until midnight so I chose to go to bed and to open my #jolabokaflod this morning. Than you so much @Light_of_Aether The ugly Christmas sweater Reese‘s cracks me up! And the book perfectly fits the theme. (The card is gorgeous too!) @MaleficentBookDragon
I love Jackie Lau and am so happy that she has a book picked up by a mainstream publisher. And this book was everything I've come to expect from her books: a sweet romance, lots of food, and intergenerational support. Fun, funny, and tons of baking. Awesome!
