Did anyone else get this a while back from audible? I think I loved it...but I don't know? Just finished and am feeling rather unsure....
5🌟/5🌟 Loved this! Always true with Ms. Atwood, though... isn't it?
This is light and bright Atwood. I saw some reviews express disappointment and confusion claiming this to not be up to Atwood‘s standard, but I disagree. I feel this story reflects the humorous, human, and effective writer Atwood is.
This being Margaret Atwood, I hovered over So-So but ultimately? This is a pan. I don‘t think you can even count this as fluff - it just feels like half baked (haha) writing. The narrator (and her daughter) come off like total brats. Just wasn‘t for me.

Short book about a young woman whose mother may or may not be a witch 🧙🏻♀️
The mom claims to have a centuries long beef with the gym teacher and that she turned the father of her child into a garden gnome, so the chances of something witchy going on are strong 😄

Life is hard enough for a teenage girl in 1950s suburbia without having a mother who may—or may not—be a witch.
This was a cute little read about the relationship between mother and daughter.
Another short story for #JumpStart2023 and #sharreadathon I finally dug out the kindle, I‘m not a huge fan of reading digitally, and I‘ve really been enjoying all the free short stories they have to offer. This one by Atwood was witchy good fun.
Very enjoyable short story from one of my favorite authors. I loved her exploration into complicated mother/daughter relationships.
One last Halloween-y read and this is a fun short story from Atwood. Free in KU so worth a half hour of your time.
Quick, interesting short story about a woman with a complicated relationship with her mother, who acts like a witch

Doing some #audiocleaning today and listened to this short story while cleaning the kitchen. A teenager in the 1950s discovers her mother is a witch. A very good story about the power of a mother‘s love!

A short story of a teenage girl in the 1950's whose mother is a witch. It goes into their relationship as the daughter grows older. An interesting, quick read.

Aiming to finish all of these in the next week.

I typically shy away from novellas, as they rarely satisfy me. I picked this to complete a kindle challenge, and it did NOT disappoint. Fun and quick read that held me captivated throughout.
It‘s not what I said I was going to read. And I‘m not even sure what to make of it but I listened to it today. 🤷🏾♀️

Wish my mother had been that evil.
And, I wish I haven't yet crossed the line not to be such an evil mother. 😁😁

This was an enjoyable and quick read. It grabbed me from the beginning and I read it straight through. I love the way Atwood develops her characters.
I‘m fighting with my printer so I decided to walk away & read this short story that‘s been sitting on my Kindle.Being a teenager with a magical single mom is a bit of a challenge , especially when she has you convinced your father is a garden gnome! I laughed , Atwood‘s writing is always excellent, even in a mini dose.Added bonus, I didn‘t take a sledgehammer to the printer! #Iuddite
Navigating teen years can be challenging enough, but what if your mother is a witch and your father a garden gnome? I loved the humor; I snorted and laughed out loud! This is a short story definitely worth a read. (It was free with Amazon Prime.)
I‘m not usually a fan of short stories, but this one packs a lot in a small amount of words! I should have know anything by Atwood would catch my interest.
Gives off a hint of Practical Magic vibes, and this is very much a mother/daughter story. Perfect as a lead up to Mother‘s Day!

Another short story!
I love Margaret Atwood‘s style, and this little story packs quite a lot into a few pages. I love the messy mother/daughter dynamic and the maybe-witch mom is a riot (see the above about the narrator‘s absent father). Retro, fun, and touching.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book said quite a bit in a very short span of time. Who doesn‘t love efficient art ? lol
This short story by Margaret Atwood may have changed my mind about short stories! Read my full review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#my-evil-mother
Margaret Atwood is one of my go to Authors and I was super excited to see this short story on Kindle unlimited. A short, fun read
💙🧙♀️💙
A super quick short story that I read while kiddo enjoyed running around on the playground. The story of a mother and daughter and the complicated relationship they have. It reminded me a bit of Practical Magic. Not bad, but forgettable.

After writing my review, I wonder where the author draws the story from... experience? 3.5 ⭐
