Merritt inherits a magical house that makes his life miserable. Thanks to a magical housekeeper, Hulda, the house is tamed. Merritt, Hulda, the house, and staff all start getting along charmingly until an evil magician desires to upend everything. Set in the mid-1800s, it often feels anachronistic but then magic isn‘t real either. With a touch of romance, this is a charming story and I‘ll plan to continue with the series.
My next audiobook. What a cool cover!!

It's a book and beer Saturday! 📖🍻🩷
A mysterious inheritance of a haunted house. A killer able to steal spells out of any magician. Merritt & Hilda find themselves trapped between these two stories.
Slow beginning, & a bit confusing at first w/ split timelines, but I love Holmberg‘s historical settings! They feel so real & grounded. & her magic systems are so creative! This is also a romance that I rooted for! The relationship grew naturally, & I loved watching it. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
Listening to this whilst at work for the second last work week of the year
This was really sweet - arguably almost cozy and I enjoyed immensely! Set in the 1840s in a world whweee magic exists but is reducing the world building was really fun. Merritt, the protagonist inherits a haunted / magical house and sets out to learn the mystery of it with the help of his fab housekeeper. Along the way he learns his own and indeed her secrets to boot. fun and easy also don‘t match for a #pantone2023 I don‘t have yet
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Keeper of Enchanted Rooms” had a bit of a slow start, but afterwards I greatly enjoyed this heartwarming and cozy read. I loved the characters and I can‘t wait to read the sequel!
I am spending the evening updating my reading journal and watching The Sound of Music.

Another book that I didn‘t love but really liked. I was kept mostly interested but not enthralled. No reason why I‘m not in love.
Litsy family— have you read either of these??
Hulda is an expert at getting misbehaving magical houses to calm down but she may have met her match in the remote island Whimberl House recently inherited by Merritt.
Hulda and Merritt work together to solve the mystery behind the haunting only to be thrown into turmoil when a power hungry wizard returns from Hulda‘s past.
Kind of a slow start but very cute story, cozy until the very end. I can‘t wait for the sequel.
A unique and fun read! I did catch one slip up, where the author mentions a faux rose bush (I don‘t think they had those in the 1840s 😅) Other than that, I enjoyed all the characters and absolutely loved the setting. The magic was clever, even if the end and the villain were fairly predictable. If you like fantasy or romance novels give it a go. Also it took me 3/4 of the way thru before I noticed the woman‘s dress on the cover. Anybody else?
This book seemed like it was made for me initially, with lots of things included that are personal favourite of mine. I begun to doubt around halfway through whether or not the book was really for me, I believe it had to do with my own circumstances though, not the book itself because when I sat down to read, I still loved it!

This was an enchanting ghost story. It‘s been a long time since I‘ve read a book in which one of the main characters was an inanimate object (Whimbtel House). It took awhile to get into the story, but once I did, I cared about the characters so much that I had to keep reading so I could find out what happened to them. I am anxiously awaiting the second book in this series.
It was just a little spark, nothing important. But sparks led to embers led to flames, so it had to be snuffed now, before her heart again crumpled to ash.
The coddled and content seldom told good stories.
This was utterly charming - I loved it! @kellyann28 @EclecticBookLover @Readergrrl I‘ll get it in the mail sometime this week #lmpbc
The ice storm has begun and I'm happy to hunker down at home with my books and knitting for a couple days...
This came in the mail days ago and i keep forgetting to post! @Readergrrl the chocolates were an entirely unnecessary, but very welcome, addition - thank you! Other Birds also got delivered today, which is what finally reminded me to post this 🤦♀️ #lmpbc @kellyann28 @EclecticBookLover
I had so much fun reading this magical-just-cozy-enough-mystery! The dialogue between spinster-like Hulda and eternal-bachelor Merritt was smart, witty, and not saccharine at all! I thought Holmberg did a nice job with her world-building and plot development. While there were no major surprises for me, I still enjoyed the storyline and give this a solid 3.5/5⭐️ I‘m a full 2 weeks late mailing this out so I‘ve added some treats for @Johanna414
I enjoyed this book about an author who inherits a magical house and needs a magical house keeper to help him control it. It felt like a perfect winter read. I really liked the magic system. There was enough intrigue to the story to keep me wanting to turn the page. I'll definitely read the next book in the series, but I might try it as an audiobook. I feel like this would be absolutely perfect as an audiobook.
"Beauty is just like a book. Some will not bother to look beyond the cover; others will find the entire tome utterly captivating.”
I really loved this listen. The story was enchanting and intriguing, and the characters were extremely likable. The narrators were fantastic, too. They each really captured their respective character‘s personality along with the personalities of the other characters in each scene. There was plenty of action, magic, and suspense with some cute, even funny moments between the characters. I already added the next in the series to my wishlist.
My next listen, kind of excited about this one 🤞🏼
Such a fun fall/winter fantasy read. Excited for the next installment.
Apparently, it's International Tea Day today. Enjoying some Irish Breakfast in my newest Christmas mug with one of my current reads.😊🫖
Look what came today! Perfect timing, as I just finished up my book and I will send it on Monday hopefully. #lmpbc @Readergrrl @kellyann28 @Johanna414
I really wanted to like this book, but it was all over the place and the author tried too hard. The ending was enjoyable and less convoluted. A little love story covered with a lot of silly magic. Book #75 in 2022
A haunted house, wizards, romance, and a nefarious villain. An uncomplicated, lighthearted read. Set in and around Boston in the 19th century, a man inherits a haunted house (which he doesn't believe is haunted) and it changes his life forever. Not to be taken too seriously, this was a fun read.
I LOVED this book! The vibes of this were just so fun and cute and quirky. If you're looking for a lighter read and a few laughs and a well thought out magic system, then give this a go! I will certainly be reading book 2 when it comes out! Can't wait to see what my #LMPBC group thinks! @Johanna414 @EclecticBookLover @Readergrrl
This was my other Kindle First Reads selection from last month. A unique magical world and interesting premise kinda read. Perfect if you‘re after a “palate cleanse” kinda read after something heavy or overly emotional. I enjoyed it. I believe it‘s now a KU freebie read now.
I think I'm starting this one today for #LMPBC! 🎉

I don‘t mind magical books, or time travel, or a combination of both…but I had to bail on this one. Just too much magic as part of everyone‘s natural capabilities.
