Why wasn't I warned that I would need book 2 right next to me the moment I finished book 1??

A YA romance between the school's star rugby player and the new girl who is bullied and abused.

TheLudicReader Right? That was exactly my reaction. 2w

I mean, I guess it says everything that you need to know when I tell you that I now must go buy the sequel…and I never read sequels. There was definitely some stuff about this book that made me cringe, but it was also laugh-out-loud funny and the two main characters are likeable. You weren‘t wrong, @TheSpineView .

These books have to be read together Book 1, Binding 13, ends on a huge cliffhanger. The story was fabulous and the characters were awesome. It is YA but didn't read as YA. My favorite read this year. Highly recommend.

What a chonker omg. But it didn‘t feel long — I got sucked right in to the angst and the longing and the confused teen silliness. This book is kept from absolute nonsense by a strong current of abuse (not between MCs) and its fallout, the search for family and a place to belong. It‘s a very engaging read, with a busy plot, lots of action, and a good quick pace. FMC Shannon whines maybe a bit too much, but it‘s not that bad. Gone right into book 2!

Hard to believe we are 1/4 of the way through 2025! 🤯

Unless something really hits me over the head, Binding 13 will be my top pick for the first half of the year. I still think about that story. Still two months to go, so it could happen. We'll see what May has to bring.

In the last couple of weeks, I blew through this series. Pretty tough in parts, it is set in Ireland and follows young adults dealing with pretty difficult situations, physical and mental abuse in the home, bullying, and the financial challenges that existed in the late 2000s. Walsh writes with an intensity that kept me reading, even though most of these are 600 pages or more. Waiting in the next one to become available at my library :)

TheSpineView Agree! I read the first two books and loved them. Both were 5 stars reads and my favorite so far this year. Book 3 is on my TBR list. 3mo

If I was 18-25I‘d have loved this book,it is a spicer version of Judy blumes wonderful forever , it is a lot lot better than the bombardment now of poorly written boring 🥱 romance but and here‘s the BUT maybe it‘s
An age thing (I‘m 53) with a huge TBR and time is precious , this book is 800 odd pages and…..

Bookbuyingaddict that‘s the sort of length of a epic which this isn‘t for me. I did listen on Audio as well as Reading the actual book & enjoyed the audio for the 2 Irish narrators. It is a spicy first love high school romance so if that‘s your bag your gonna love it 3mo

1. Tagged. This one pulled at my heart strings. You also have to read Keeping 13 because it is a continuation of the story.
2. Not yet. However, I might DNF " The Familiar ". I can't get into it, and I don't care about the MC.

Play? @Kshakal @TheBookHippie @JenReadsAlot @ImperfectCJ @Deblovestoread

IriDas My daughter and love about half of Leigh Bardugo‘s books. The Familiar didn‘t look like it would land in that category so we haven‘t ventured there. 3mo

This book took me by surprise. I was expecting more of a fluff type book; however, I got so much more. The story and characters have so much depth. It is definitely a slow burn. Loved it and have already started the next book. 4.5 🌟

Unexpectedly addictive!
Hadn‘t heard anything about this, just saw it had high reviews on Amazon. The first few chapters I immediately thought this was for a younger audience, Literally couldn‘t put it down 😅&what a cliff hanger , you can‘t not start the next book! Very clever Chloe Walsh.
Cute but complicated high school relationship with some very serious topics of DV,neglect, traumatising bullying and bulldozer hormones with added Irish banter.

Shannon changed schools b/c she was bullied at her old school. She collides w/ rising star rugby player, Johnny. He‘s supposed to be focused on rugby, but he feels drawn to her, especially when she‘s being bullied again & faces DV at home. Will they be able to be together?

This 1 was ok. I don‘t like reading DV & bullying; it should be a TW. The writing wasn‘t that great. It was kinda funny. The main characters got on my nerves, mainly Shannon.

As a rugby player this made me so happy. It is the only rugby romance I have ever found and it was so phenomenal. I love a good slow burn, and this was exactly that. I loved the characters, none of them are forgettable. I‘m already reading the second book and I can‘t wait to get further into it. I NEED more rugby romance novel recommendations.

So I buddy hate read this with a friend and it's sooooo bad. that it was weirdly fun? I know this is a super popular book on TikTok and we sold a crap ton of preorders at the store, so no shade if you love the Boys of Tommen series... I'm the idiot that started the 2nd book bc the first one legit ends with cliffhanger so hangering that I had too. Sigh.
