"It's a frying pan that ruins Lucas's Life."

Read for #AuldLangSpine 2nd book from @JacqMac ‘s list, I really enjoyed this short story, finshed this week. I read & loved A Man Called Ove when it came out but for some reason let Blackman get away from me. This story about Lucas who just wants to be left alone made me laugh out loud several times although I did identify with him a bit too much for comfort (like with his views on Pad Thai & people dropping by)! 😆
5/5
Lucas is pulled from his comforting isolation when his apartment board drags him into an investigation into who left a frying pan on the ground outside. It's a quick read with Backman's humor, emotion, and strong voice. I enjoyed it as much as the longer works of his I've read.

Backman can do no wrong IMO. I will always refer to him as a wordsmith. He can take the most absurd scenario and make it a philosophical look at life. In this case, Lucas just wants to live his life by himself, but nagging neighbours stealing wifi, a cult believing he‘s an angel (and one that believes he‘s not), a meddlesome apartment committee… and a frying pan, just won‘t let him enjoy his Pad Thai and video game.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A fun, quirky cast of characters in this short story from a favorite author of mine.

So far is book is funny and super cute. Love the characters thought process. Relatable for introverts!!
Fredrik Backman can do no wrong. He writes dysfunctional outcasts the best and I love reading the mess he comes up with. Go read this fun short story!
