Poor Catherine!
I've throughly enjoyed reading a chapter a day with group. I am going to finish reading today so I can post Discussion Questions tomorrow. Will continue to share daily quotes the rest of the month.

This chapter always makes me angry. General putting Catherine out of the house. Sending her home with any escort. Single women didn't travel without at least man servant. Plus Catherine is young, she's never been anywhere. Thankfully Elinor thinks to ask if Catherine has money for the trip.

I made this and forgot to post. 😆 Yesterday visited Henry's house.

Henry Tilney knows what Isabella is about.

“If I understand you rightly, you had formed a surmise of such horror as I have hardly words to——Dear Miss Morland, consider the dreadful nature of the suspicions you have entertained." - Henry Tilney
We all know where Catherine got her ideas from. I glad Henry called her out for skulking but I also find the "Remember that we are English," part hilarious.

"The kitchen-garden was to be next admired, and he led the way to it across a small portion of the park."
I love this chapter not for the plot but for the garden tour!
My Kitchen Garden is looking quite lovely. ???

🤪 Over the weekend I was reading on Kindle, switched back to print this morning. Read Chapter 20 rather than 19, so here's today's quote.
#PemberLittens #TalkTilneyToMe
#JaneAustenThenAndNow.
Morning cuppa and chapter - "and, in the course of a few minutes, she found herself with Henry in the curricle, as happy a being as ever existed."* ???
#PemberLittens #TalkTilneyToMe
#JaneAustenThenAndNow
*This quote is actually from Chapter 20. I had a moment.?
"The compliment of John Thorpe‘s affection did not make amends for this thoughtlessness in his sister."
I'm try to decide who is more annoying Isabella or John Thorpe.

"With all the chances against her of house, hall, place, park, court, and cottage, Northanger turned up an abbey, and she was to be its inhabitant." - Chapter 17
We're going to Northanger Abbey!

"For myself, it is nothing; I never think of myself.”
Yeah right, Pick Me Princess Isabella. ?
#PemberLittens #TalkTilneyToMe
#JaneAustenThenAndNow
"But I have a notion, Miss Morland, you and I think pretty much alike upon most matters.”
No Dude Bro Thorpe, not even close. ??♀️

#JaneAustenThenAndNow
One of the many reasons I love Henry Tilney! 💜💜💜💜💜

Catherine standing up to Dude Bro Thorpe, Pick Me Isabella, and The Damn Fool James. 👏🏻

#JaneAustenThenAndNow
"Is there a Henry in the world who could be insensible to such a declaration? Henry Tilney at least was not." ?
#PemberLittens #TalkTilneyToMe
#JaneAustenThenAndNow
"Thorpe defended himself very stoutly, declared he had never seen two men so much alike in his life, and would hardly give up the point of its having been Tilney himself."
Dude Bro Thorpe you lying, liar. ?
#Pemberlittens #TalkTilneyToMe
#JaneAustenThenAndNow
"Every young lady may feel for my heroine in this critical moment, for every young lady has at some time or other known the same agitation."
Go away Dude Bro Thorpe! I only want to dance with Henry Tilney!
#PemberLittens #TalkTilneyToMe
#JaneAustenThenAndNow
Catherine has decided Dude Bro 'John Thorpe himself was quite disagreeable.' 😒

I think it's fun the difference between a quiz today vs Northanger Abbey. You can play here: https://janeausten.co.uk/blogs/the-jane-austen-quiz/which-regency-style-is-for-y...
But more importantly Henry Tilney is back‼️? "He looked as handsome and as lively as ever,"......

When you meet a man and it's so obvious that he's not Henry Tilney. 🎩
“Udolpho! Oh, Lord! not I; I never read novels; I have something else to do.” - John Thorpe.
#PemberLittens #TalkTilneyToMe
#JaneAustenThenAndNow
“It is so odd to me, that you should never have read Udolpho before;" - Northanger Abbey Chapter 6.
That time I read Udolfo and had thoughts. Have you read any of Isabella's list of books?
#Pemberlittens #TalkTilneyToMe
#JaneAustenThenAndNow
.Henry Tilney is still nowhere to be found. But Catherine has made a friend! And gasp we're reading novels! 😱📖📚
#PemberLittens #TalkTilneyToMe
#JaneAustenThenAndNow
"With more than usual eagerness did Catherine hasten to the Pump-room the next day, secure within herself of seeing Mr. Tilney there before the morning were over, and ready to meet him with a smile:—but no smile was demanded—Mr. Tilney did not appear."
Where oh where can Henry Tilney be? ?
#PemberLittens #TalkTilneyToMe
#JaneAustenThenAndNow
"The master of the ceremonies introduced to her a very gentlemanlike young man as a partner;—his name was Tilney."
It's Henry Tilney‼️?
#PemberLittens #TalkTilneyToMe
#JaneAustenThenAndNow
I love how this chapter is so fun, to say that nothing happened. 😄

This is edition I'll mainly be reading from. Also have Audio and Kindle for busy days.
My favorite quote from Chapter 1 and one of my favorites from entire book:
"if adventures will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad,"
?????
