After years of frequent moves following her mothers death, Chloe Saunderss life is finally settling down. She is attending art school, pursuing her dreams of becoming a director, making friends, meeting boys. Her biggest concern is that shes not developing as fast as her friends are. But when puberty does hit, it brings more than hormone surges. Chloe starts seeing ghostseverywhere, demanding her attention. After she suffers a breakdown, her devoted aunt Lauren gets her into a highly recommended group home. At first, Lyle House seems a pretty okay place, except for Chloes small problem of fearing she might be facing a lifetime of mental illness. But as she gradually gets to know the other kids at the homecharming Simon and his ominous, unsmiling brother Derek, obnoxious Tori, and Rae, who has a thing for fireChloe begins to realize that there is something that binds them all together, and it isnt your usual problem kid behaviour. And together they discover that Lyle House is not your usual group home either From the Trade Paperback edition.

This is the first for this series. It is not as good as some of her other series but it makes me want to read the second one. It is about teens coming into their power with puberty with no help of any adults. It is a pretty cool book if your a teen. It has lots of drama like teens do.

Chloe‘s life is thrown upside down when she learns that she is part of the supernatural world, she and her new group of friends have to figure out how to escape being experiments and who is on there side. This novel is full of adventure, friendship, and trial and error. I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys supernatural and adventure novels. Out of all the books I‘ve read this is my favourite.

Piper_Ell I absolutely love the plot and character development that the author wrote. A motif in this novel is that nothing is ever how it seems. The significance of this is that even if on the surface something seems good and safe that there is a chance that it isn‘t at to be careful. Or that just because someone seems ‘crazy‘ or ‘rude‘ it doesn‘t mean that they are and that there is most likely a story behind a persons behaviour. 4y

I lived how fast-paced this book was. I'm really looking forward to the next in the series, especially since it ended on such a cliff-hanger!

I really enjoy reading this series and it is of the few books I have found and enjoyed dealing with necromancy.

This book turned out pretty much exactly like I expected. It was a quick, fun, easy YA read that could please a wide variety of non-readers. As an avid reader, I have slightly higher expectations, but by no means was this a boring book.
3.5/5

tracey38 I agree. I enjoyed this book for what it was. 6y

I feel like you can tell a lot about a person based on their favourite book. I would never be able to choose! But I am currently reading 'The Summoning', gifted to me by my cousin because it is her favourite. So far I can see why...

Did a little #audiowalking this evening and started this book. Enjoying it so far. Have been eyeing this series for a bit, so we‘ll see how book one progresses! Anybody read this series?? Thoughts? 🎧

ripley_reads I actually think I may have this book lol. I will have to check! 6y
brittanyreads @LindsayRipley It‘s pretty good! I‘m struggling because I‘m listening to the audio. I‘m starting to figure out that maybe audiobooks just aren‘t for me. 🙁 6y
ripley_reads Yeah, while I like the idea of audiobooks, I don‘t know that I would be able to fully pay attention if I‘m not actually looking at the words lol. I haven‘t tried it yet though. And I couldn‘t find that book. I feel like I saw it at goodwill. Maybe one of my friends bought it instead lol. 6y
brittanyreads @LindsayRipley Yea, I‘ve tried listening to several and I always just start daydreaming lol. The only ones I‘ve successfully read were memoirs read by the author. I can listen to podcasts just fine though. Haha makes no sense. 6y

I suck at selfies and have never successfully pulled off a #bookface photo so I'm amazed that I lucked out and snapped this today on my first try...well, first try with this particular book, that is! I had some pretty epic fails with a few other books I tried! It's not perfect, but it's far better than any of my previous attempts so I'll call it a win. #ReadingResolutions

My cat (Ashes) and my dog (Hazy) are sadly no longer with me (It‘s been a few years now) and I haven‘t wanted to get any new pets since, so for today‘s #BooksWithPets prompt I thought I would just post a pic of my framed pics of them on my bookshelf 💙💙 #MarchInBooks 🍀📖

This book was fantastic. Deals with serious mental health concerns through the Guise of metaphysical and magical fiction. At least. That's what I got from it.

Finished the series for a second time and really recommend the books! Fantastic for any reading level with enough action to keep you going for days, and touches of romance for those who appreciate that.

This is a pretty good read. Easy and light; also there's supernaturals. My only thing is how have they not heard of terms such as witch, sorcerer, etc and they are 15 or older?

I am currently reading this book from my public library and I just love the way it fits in my hands and the way the pages smell and feel! Does anyone else ever get super excited about things like that? Like it's just so worn out and you can tell it's been a lot of places and so many others have read this one copy of this story.

I had hoped for a bit more paranormal from this one. The story dragged a bit and I wished for some more "scary" throughout. It took way too long to get to the realization of what they all were and it might have spiced up the story more if their "powers" had been introduced much sooner.

BekahB I've been on the fence about reading this series for a while. I might check it out from the library instead of buying it. 8y

I've read this book at least four times, but it continues to creep me out every time. Now, on to the rest of the trilogy which, strangely enough, I've never read.
