Percy Jackson and the Titan's Curse
Percy Jackson and the Titan's Curse | Rick Riordan
The third book in the most exciting commercial fantasy adventure series since Artemis Fowl. It's the last Friday before the winter holidays but Percy Jackson isn't at school: he's battling the fearsome Manticore (half human, half lion), which in itself isn't ideal . . . but with Annabeth missing and the goddess of the hunt held captive, things get a whole lot more serious . . . Greek mythology relocated to modern-day America. Action-packed, funny, accessible writing for both boys and girls aged 10+. Perfect for fans of Harry Potter and Artemis Fowl.

I finished reading The Titan's Curse to my boys and we loved it. We're all excited to continue on with the series!

mom2bugnbee I loved Percy. I also really loved his Egyptian series because I knew so little about Egyptian mythology. 2w

Fantasy

April 5, 2019 - May 1, 2019

I chose this book to continue the series.

Annabelle and Artemis the Goddess of Hunting were kidnapped. Once again, Percy along with his friends, Thalia, Grover, Zoe, and Bianca went to finish Artemis' quest to track down the monster that is worth destroying Olympus. Percy and his friends went on a dangerous journey, challenging the prophecy of the Titan's curse(2 out of them 5 will die). Who will be perished?

Set during Winter Solstice, this was my favorite one so far! Although the quest structure is growing a little old. I absolutely loved the chapter where Aphrodite totally ships Percy and Annabeth. That was fun!

I have to wonder though, where are all of the adult demigods? It‘s weird - they just don‘t seem to exist, yet camp is full of kid demigods! Olympians don‘t strike me as ever having celibacy phases.

I liked the movement & pacing of this story better & it felt like things were constantly working & changing. There wasn't a dull moment in the entire story. I am still very much enjoying the whimsy of the book & the mythology is so much fun to reinforce & learn. I find Riordan's writing fun & inviting & I love his imagination. I'm anxiously awaiting my chance to grab the next audiobook in the series from my library. This series is a great time!

Didn‘t realize the 3rd book is set the week before the winter solstice, so I‘m still reading seasonally! It‘s not often that I read a book set during the exact week that I‘m reading it.

I‘m really early to car line since I came straight from a funeral (my good friend and neighbor‘s mother passed away last week - she had Alzheimer‘s), so had almost an hour of reading time while waiting.

4thhouseontheleft @Addison_Reads @Crazeedi @marleed Thank you! It is our friend‘s mom...we didn‘t know his mom all that well, but wanted to support our friend. She‘s been in a memory care unit the last few years, but our daughter has a very sweet relationship with her spouse, he‘s been like a great-grandpa next door. Our next door neighbor/friend is the primary caregiver for his parents, it‘s been a rough road lately. 1mo

Date Started: October 24
Date Completed: November 4
I chose this book because it was the next book in the Percy Jackson series.
The book took place in Nevada and Mount Othrys. It follows Percy Jackson now trying to stop the end of the world by happening. They begin by making sure that Atlas is still holding the sky up. They find him there, but it is still a trap. They eventually succeed and stop the end of the world once again.

My final result for #24in48 is 4 finished books and 16 hours 40 minutes reading time! I‘m very happy with this result and I would love to keep going but I can‘t keep my eyes open anymore. I‘m glad that my final book for this was a Percy Jackson because it feels like a good way to finish; I‘m finally home at Camp Half-Blood and can drift off to sleep knowing I‘ll be safe❤️

I read books 1 & 2 about two years ago and finally got around book 3. I enjoyed this one more than the others so I'm not sure if it's the time passed, the storyline or the lack of Annabeth. (Sorry!) I'll continue with the series, but it has been just OK so far. Since the half-bloods are getting older, I hope for a little more maturity & better adventures. I have enjoyed this version of the Gods we get in the series.

Percy Jackson: The Titans Curse (F) by Rick Riordan is the third book in the Percy Jackson series. The Titans Curse won the New York Times Children‘s Best Seller in 2008. Percy, Thalia, Grover, and the hunters of the goddess Artemis go across the country to save their friend Annabeth and save the world. (If you have read this book, then I hope you enjoy my picture, I thought it was super funny). #LAE3414sp19

audrey.wilson Rick Riordan provides on his website, incredible resources for teachers to use when using his literature. This link is for a discussion guide that follows The Titans Curse and has ideas for class projects. UDL strategy 3.3, guide information processing and visualization, aligns perfectly with this guided discussion lesson plan. 9mo
audrey.wilson I offered the second book, Sea of Monsters as an LC option, and I hope that my students will want to continue with Percy, so The Titans Curse will also be an LC option. ESOL strategy 6, continually monitoring students‘ comprehension, works well with the guided discussion lesson plan.

Every once in a while I ask my oldest kid to recommend a book to me. Turns out he‘s salty that I haven‘t finished reading the Percy Jackson series. So, book three it was! As always, I found the “jump straight into the action” opening a little jarring, but I enjoyed it overall. My favorite part was probably Artemis revealing that she turns boys who trespass in her camp into jackalopes. I have a strange weakness for jackalopes.

✅Another one done for my #riordanreadingbinge 🔱

I absolutely love this series and can‘t get enough of the half blood adventures. My favorite elements from this book was the incorporation of the Pegasi and the epic battle on Mount Tam (which happens to be one of my favorite hiking spots). Highly recommend.

📚Up next: The Battle of the Labyrinth

Loric At 53, I just read the first in this series, The Lightning Thief, and really enjoyed it. Do you need to read these in order? 12mo
TrishMcCallister @Loric Hi 👋🏻 I read The Lightning Thief for the first time this fall and it started my love for all of Rick Riordan‘s books. SO glad you enjoyed it too 😊 I recommend reading them in order for the sake of the characters story lines. It‘s harder to tell in Lightning Thief, but the subplots for Percy, Grover, Annabeth, Luke & Thalia are well thought out and exciting to tag along with. (edited) 12mo
