Spanning 200 years, a story held together by the glue of a strong woman, an enduring love, a fierce protection, and generations of heartbreak and rebuilding. I didn‘t know what to expect coming into this but coming full circle, I really enjoyed it! For those who love stories centered around a place.
One more, probably my last for September‘s #aam.
This is a cute collection of short stories revolving around a cottage and its various inhabitants over several generations. Really sweet and the audiobook was only about 6hrs but I found myself less interested as Hoffman brought the stories closer to modern times. Some of the enchantment was lost for me with the last few chapters. Still recommend 3.75🌟
Now to finish that other blackbird tale…
#AuthorAMonth I enjoyed this short interconnected novel revolving around a house by the sea. Each chapter focuses on a new inhabitant, some are descendants others are newcomers. Each chapter is richly crafted & written with Hoffman‘s tender prose and skillful style. It‘s a quick listen, read by numerous narrators, which made this book really enjoyable. #AudiblePlus perfect for a Fall day 🧡
I wasn‘t going to pick up an Alice Hoffman this month @Soubhiville but than I saw this audio in my Audible library and thought, why not?!?!! I‘m REALLY enjoying this interconnected short story collection 💕Multicast narration and really good stories so far. Each character that resides in the Blackbird House is whimsical and compelling. Alice Hoffman is a truly gifted writer and storyteller 🙌🏻 Solid companion for running errands today 😁
I am so sad! The writing is beautiful, the story is fanciful and emotional... There really aren't many reasons for me to bail on this book except that it just isn't quite my cup of tea.
Book 14 for 2021
Need something light and short
At 225 pages, I think this will do
Traveling a lot to see my grandchildren, I don‘t stay over anymore due to covid and I am working so we wear masks and stay outside , my daughter is pregnant with her third a little girl this time💖
So I am not usually an audio person but it‘s great on these rides. Loved this book what a wonderful string of stories all set around a small farm house near Cape cod over the coarse of two hundred years, beautiful prose and stories of loss and love
Loved it! I really enjoyed the format of how each story was seperate but still tied to each one and some of the characters carried over.
Alice Hoffman reposted me on instagram!!! *fangirl screams* 🤪🤪
Charity shop purchases today 😁
No, I haven‘t read Atonement or seen the film and I don‘t know how or why 🤷♀️
I really like the way Alice Hoffman writes. Her stories tend to be a little bit too tinged with sadness for my liking, but they are haunting and melancholy in a beautiful, poetic way. This set of short stories centers around one house – Blackbird House – across the span of many decades. I enjoy that common thread through her stories. Sometimes the stories end abruptly and leave the reader hanging. I didn‘t feel strongly compelled to keep reading.
Pumpkin spice coffee, a good book, and beautiful rural scenery on this misty morning in the mountains.
This old farm is near where @MrBook and I live in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. 💚

Spending the afternoon in the quaint town of Milford PA, waiting for @MrBook to meet up with me after he‘s done at the library. Enjoying a delicious lunch of Hungarian Mushroom soup, fresh baked biscuit, and Havana panini while catching up on some reading. Yum. Happy reads & happy eats!
I enjoyed this little book so much. It's a series of stories all connected and surrounding a small New England farm from the 18th century through present day. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Trying to read all of Alice Hoffman. Here is Sunday afternoon‘s effort! 😊🌞🐞🌺
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I listened to this on audio and I'm so glad I did. The 11 narrators brought each interwoven chapter/story about a house/land in New England to life across 11 time periods generations. Fantastic.
Since I am spending my Sunday with her latest book this is my choice for #shoesoncovers. #jubilantjuly
I wasn't afraid. I had read the Odyssey and I knew there was no way to escape your own fate. I knew that every monster had a beating heart, even those with scales, even those with flame-hot breath that could light the eelgrass on fire, even those whose faces were too terrible to see.

From every bitter thing, after all, something hardy will surely grow. From every difficulty, the seed that's [sown] is that much stronger.

Lovely interwoven vignettes, following the lives two centuries of residents of the same small farmhouse on the outer edge of Cape Cod. Hoffman's prose is as lyrical as ever, with hints of magic underlying the everyday.
