Mehso-so

This book was a so-so for me. I did enjoy her wit and she had some great quotes, but unfortunately I did not connect with Lillian. I found the story very boring and drawn out at times. I often drifted off in my own thoughts and had to reread pages for I lost interest in it. I wanted to like this book more but did not find the story very compelling or find Lillian endearing enough. 🌟🌟1/2 Stars

Mdargusch I can see how you felt this way. For some reason I liked this book more towards the end. 7y
cobwebmoth @MinDea I felt the same way. I ended up bailing for now. I might try it again when I'm in a different mood. 7y
rachaich I think I felt more towards her as her emotional needs were revealed. 7y

Before Tann, yes they were yours. A heart wrenching story with a family history, secrets unearthed, children, sisters and a cruel woman. A woman who made history ugly, and the present cannot forgive or forget these crimes. Based on a true account, it grabbed at me, and I still want to investigate further. A winner! Completed 8 Jan 2018. #firstbookof2018

#firstbookof2018 While this was a lighter and quicker read than “Can‘t We Talk About Something More Pleasant?”,I enjoyed it as well. Chast gives us a tour of Manhattan, displaying her love for the city and providing practical tips.

Finished on January 2nd.

#firstbookof2018 ... and it was a good one... (I think it was @emilyhaldi I saw mention it?🤔)
Atmospheric and creepy at times, this has a definite Bronte-esque vibe with it‘s Yorkshire moors setting. Perfect book to curl up with during this unusually cold week we are having in South Florida! Brrrrrrr!

LeahBergen I‘ve had this stacked for ages. 👍🏻 7y
emilyhaldi So glad you likes this!! It was a great dark, moody, Victorian read. Ideal for a cozy winter day 🖤 7y
FlowerFairy In Florida, too. Crazy weather! Icicles on the palm trees is just WRONG. LOL 7y

About 1/3 of the way through my first book of 2018 and LOVING it so far. I love the characters, the Shakespeare quoting (they've been doing Macbeth and Julius Caesar, two of my favorites), and the fast-paced plot. I feel like I haven't been hearing enough about this one! #currentlyreading #firstbookof2018

bunny I was just looking at the cover for this book the other day and wondering about it. I‘m so glad you‘re enjoying it! 7y

Stay With Me is a compelling and intense novel about a Nigerian couple desperate to have a child. I really liked the way the narrative was split in time and in voice. I definitely recommend it! #Recommendsday #FirstBookof2018

I am so enjoying this book. The story is good, it takes place in the future but is stuffed with 80‘s reference. Being born in the early 80‘s I know most of them and it adds another layer of fun.

Jennick2004 I started Emma in the Night and it‘s great so far! 7y

alisiakae @cinfhen Yes, I hope so! But I‘m not sure where it is right now. I was going to touch base with the Dec and Jan folks when I get home from vacation, but I don‘t have the list on me. I know your month is coming up soon, was it Feb? Or this month? 7y
