Purchased a copy for a child and realized some readers were concerned about the content and I needed to check it out. I found that this quirky fairytale reminds children that the world can be difficult and silly, but that all are searching and fighting for their heart‘s desire. Read and discuss together. This tale of an unlikely hero fighting fear and rats to save a princess is a four ⭐️ read.

Progressive for its time and a commentary on Japanese cultural, traditional norms, this classic 50's manga is a more adult version of Disney where divine intervention created Princess Sapphire, a being with dual hearts of both sexes. Disguised as a boy prince, Sapphire goes on epic adventures that explores gender identities, sexuality, equality, and feminism while presenting all the fairytale tropes.

I don't know how Michael can deal with the immaturity. My goddddd.
"Sexy dance" was repeated so many times, it was reallystarting to hurt my eyes.
And Lilly just gets more and more selfish through each book. Please drop her Mia. I'm begging you.
I do enjoy JP's character. I hope he sticks around.

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it.

And in this month of Mia's life... she's really not ready to "do it".
But she might be able to crush running for student council president. Even if she doesn't want to do that either.

3.5⭐This says that you may be a princess but to get stuff done, you need to wear pants. That sometimes skirts get in the way and that the job is more important than the fashion. The book rhymes decently. However, the cadence has many places where it switches and or faults. Do I think this is the best book that will be talked about for 20 years? Most likely not. But was it a good effort

I‘m not sure which part I found the most charming/entertaining - a witch who traps princesses in towers for the art of it, a princess who eventually realises that violence is the answer and a bottom of the garden fairy with a penchant for science, tactics and explosives. This was my first Tamsyn Muir - and I loved how this unfolded so I suspect - not my last.
