Sometimes you just need to enjoy a book with your supper. I‘m already in the middle of several books, but I picked up this one that came off my holds list. It‘s a novel in verse about a middle school Syrian American boy who wants to be on the school football team. It‘s full of football and bookish references.

Happy Tolkien Reading Day! After recently reading Tolkien‘s work on The Fall of Arthur I decided to revisit a bit more of his poetry today in the tagged book with supper tonight. I love the story of Beren and Luthien, and the parts that were written as poetry are especially wonderful.

I haven‘t had a lot of reading time this past week, so my priority was finishing The History of Love. Now that it‘s done, I finally settled in to start “The Evolution of the Poem” this evening with supper. Also, crazy Missouri weather was in the 60s yesterday and back in the 30s today, so it was chili for supper again.

pickI finished the last chapters of this book with supper tonight. This was actually the first book of the series I read, and I think it might still be my favorite. We‘ll see as I continue this series reread. I found both mysteries absolutely fascinating, and the historical setting as vivid as well. I like the continuing friendship between Shardlake & Guy, and Barak definitely adds an interesting dynamic and useful investigative skills.
It‘s the first week of school and my to do list is so long, but I took a short break this evening for supper and one chapter. Maybe I can fit in another later tonight.
