This was a quick read. I enjoyed the book. If these books would have came out when I was a kid, I would have loved them. I rated the book a 4 out of 5 stars.

I got this book for free, in exchange for my honest opinion via NetGalley.
I haven‘t read the first two books in Rodman Philbrick‘s The Wild Series, but if they‘re anything like Wild Wave, then I‘m in for a treat.
Nick and Jess are two middle school students that fate tosses together when a tsunami hits their small coastal town.

This has been my book to read at school, and it‘s taken a long time since I just get a few minutes a day. I didn‘t enjoy it quite as much as Gratz‘s previous books. It felt too heavy handed in the lessons on climate change, and I also had a harder time with the transitions between the three story lines. I did think each of the main characters had an interesting and action packed story.

Definite #borrownotbuy for the majority of you! 😂😂😂 (Unless you're really interested in the 18th century / Defoe / Crusoe!)

Maus is the second of the two graphic novels I‘ve read. The first was They Called Us Enemy. While they may not be my go to, both books were excellent and important. Maus was on my #AuldLangSpine list from @Amiable and I‘m glad to have had the incentive to pick it up. 5🌟 And now I need to read Part II of this story. Thanks for the great recommendation Amy! #52Books #SurvivalStory

Forgot a picture, so here‘s #DannyBoy being a goof. Enjoyed this reread, with a battered woman finding her place and purpose in a new home, new love, and discovering her inner witch. #52Books23 #survivalstory #catsofLitsy

Such a wonderful #HF story about the 1811 Richmond Theatre Fire that killed 72 people mostly women. The story begins with the fire and then the aftermath following a handful of survivors. Ripe for bookclub discussion, I couldn‘t turn the pages quick enough. I appreciated the addition of the Author‘s Note which gave more context. This book touches on the cruelty of slavery, society struggles between men & women and preconceived idea of heroism.

Ooh this was dark, and with too many content warnings to mention! Writing is razor sharp and fast paced, and this take on a fairytale romance gone very bad is compelling. The LGBTQ+ #metoo tale includes a human trafficking element, rape, conversion therapy and a look at telling our own stories, in our own time vs the responsibility to share to help/save others. Didn‘t care for the ending, but so worth a read if the content doesn‘t scare you off!

I know I am late to reading this book...but Wow. What a masterpiece. Loved how she used the story of Medea as a framework to tell about this family surviving hurricane Katrina and life. One of the best books I have ever read. Jesmyn Ward is a must read if you love Toni Morrison or Alice Walker. 5+ 🌟
