The stacks for my #DecemberTBR & #WinterReadathon!

The left are book box books that have arrived recently. The middle is all my #pemberlittens reading that I‘m behind on (with the exception of the Heiress) so that stack is my goal for the Winter Readathon - I solemnly vow to catch up on #janeandtheexcellentreadalong! The right is some leftovers and a few books as I continue my quest to #ReadMyOwnDamnBooks.

Gonna be a busy month!

DieAReader Looks great! Good luck📚🤓♥️ 5d
Andrew65 Some great choices, enjoy. 🎅🎅🎅 4d

#Pemberlittens it's Time for #JaneandtheExcellentReadalong Discussion.
This Read at Your Own Pace Book Club is held on the 30th of every month. Pop in anytime to leave your thoughts.

In Book 4 we've traveled to Godmersham Park 🇬🇧 in summer.

My Answers in Comments.

Crinoline_Laphroaig 1️⃣ Jane 'gardening' while eavesdropping:
"I threw my back into snipping flowers as tho‘ my very life depended upon it."
2️⃣ "However retired my future days, I will have my wit to sustain me—the secret sarcasms of my pen, that must subject even the greatest to my power, unbeknownst to themselves."
3️⃣ Godmersham Park. This was a case of Setting becoming Character.
4️⃣ Lord Harold
.

Crinoline_Laphroaig 5️⃣ That they we're under a threat of Evacuation because of Napoleon. While I know some about this time period, I didn't realize this.
6️⃣ Country Cottage. I like reliability. Plus I could save my money and have a holiday of visiting great houses
7d
Crinoline_Laphroaig 7️⃣ Lazy morning with breakfast, and then reading by the fire in Library. Afternoon visiting all the sights of the garden: HaHa, Summer House, Bentigh, and especially walking across the Stour and up the hill to Doric Temple. More reading, then back to the house for sumptuous afternoon tea.
8️⃣ My Glasshouse is definitely my happy place. I really feel my garden needs a Folly. Mini Stonehenge at the corner of the property?
7d
Crinoline_Laphroaig 9️⃣ Enjoy all the books in this Series, it really hits it stride with this one. Perfect mix of intriguing mystery & Jane's life.

Captures Jane's actual poor relation status to her wealthy brother. Love the playful snarkyness of Jane & her brothers.

Also like how included real person Anne Sharpe in a way that was believable. Isn't always the case in Historical Fiction.

I'm a gardener so all descriptions of gardens made me happy. 👩🏻‍🌾📖📚

Oh man, good timing! I have gotten behind on a few things and with December being an absolutely batty month, I need a goal to help me focus my reading! So my goal for #winterreadathon is going to be to get caught up on my #pemberlittens reading. I‘m staying up-to-date on The Heiress but I haven‘t touched Jane Austen‘s letters yet or any of the #janeandtheexcellentreadalong yet.

Thanks for hosting, @Andrew65 @GHABI4ROSES @DieAReader

Andrew65 Great to have you with us, good luck 😁 1w

#Pemberlittens we're off to Canterbury Races and doing a spot of gardening with November's
#JaneAndTheExcellentReadalong

Title references classic garden design from Alexander Pope: "In laying out a garden, the first and chief thing to be considered is the genius of the place."

The Gardener in me loved this one when I read for #JaneandtheYear2020 because it mentions one of my favorite garden designs - the HaHa. ⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig Beautiful cover! It's just a bit dark which makes it hard to see in the photo. Jane is peering out from what I think is a Garden Folly. Will see if I remember correctly once I reread.⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig For background info there's a great Blog Post on Author's Website: http://francinemathews.blogspot.com/2011/04/surveying-jane-landscape-jane-and.ht...
Discussion Questions will be posted on Wednesday November 30th. 👩🏻‍🌾📖📚

TheBookHippie I‘m liking this one as well. Started it late due to my body not cooperating with me. Also we have the same mug!!! Thanks for the link! 3w

I really enjoyed this third book. It ticked along nicely. #JaneandtheExcellentReadAlong #Pemberlittens

A huge Thank You to @Crinoline_Laphroaig for hosting.😃Answers to questions are in the comments.

Ruthiella 1. The final revelation of the murderer was good. I also enjoyed the Bath setting. 2. I loved Lady Desdemona‘s shooting down of Miss Wren “I may wonder that having a so biddable nature in your day, you failed to find a husband”. 3. My favorite character was Mr. Elliot, the sloppy yet sharp magistrate. 4. I was surprised to find 👁 portraits were a thing. 5. I learned Jane wasn‘t a fan of concerts. 6. I find eye portraits a little creepy. 1mo
Ruthiella 7. If I could visit Bath, I‘d definitely want to visit the Roman baths that give it its name. 8. Random Thought-I‘ve never know anyone even named Harold! 😂 1mo
Leftcoastzen 😻 1mo
