This is my favorite book series & I figured it‘s time for a reread. The narrator (Stephanie Daniel) is fabulous & I can‘t recommend this series enough! 5⭐️
third time reading this
romp through Melbourne — never fear,
Phryne‘s on the case.

One of my favorite things about Miss Fisher‘s Murder Mysteries is Phryne‘s fabulous wardrobe! The 1920s is my favorite time period in general, but for clothes especially.
fabulous frocks flow
freely from Phryne‘s fantastic
form — flatteringly.

Thanks for the rec @jenlovesjt47 - what fun! 🤩
#Series firsts are hard -- the author has to hook you on the characters AND tell a good story. Greenwood deftly uses the dancer Sasha and the impressionable Dot to help show us Phryne's character, but also as pivotal plot pushers. Phryne is hedonistic, yes, but not just that, and it is ultimately a pleasure to get some insights beyond her roaring 20s persona. The whirlwind sometimes overwhelmed, but overall I'm happy to continue with the series!
Let‘s channel Phryne
as often as possible —
life‘s less dull that way.
Phryne Fisher is my favorite book character and I‘m due for a reread of this series soon. Also love the show Miss Fisher‘s Murder Mysteries. Highly recommend both if you haven‘t read/seen them!

The guests were silenced by a painful mixture of Schoenberg and Russian folk song, derived from musically obtuse Styrian peasants, who had absorbed their atonality along with their mother's milk. The sound hurt; but it could not be ignored. Too much of it, Phryne was convinced, would curdle custard. (69)

1) I always wanted a name people know how to spell. Like Jane. Easy Peasy.
2) My first pet a dog named Frisco I was 5 and named him after my favorite General Hospital soap opera character 🤣
3) I always loved the name Phryne Fisher from Miss Fishers Murder mystery
Pretty sure I found these on a midsummer night. It‘s started to get 🥶 like it does every yr after the Writer‘s Festival & every yr I hate it! I ❤️ the mags at the bottom of the pile. They‘re from the Art Gallery of NSW & my State Library. I collect the tagged 📕 series. The covers are so pretty. I‘m a big fan of Inga Simpson & got to meet her at the SWF. She isn‘t as serious as she seems on stage. We spoke about her new book set where I grew up.
