Definitely the best Nancy Drew we've had in a minute. This one had more of the regular level of ridiculousness 😂 Favorite parts included the police acting very clever because they determined that two masked men who attempted to break into the house at the same time were working together; the girls acting like sitting behind empty picture frames was a brilliant hiding spot; literally everyone not only knowing how to sail but being really great ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) at it; and Nancy's magical disguise-wig that seemed to stay on no matter what! This one reminded me of why I enjoyed these books so much when I was growing up - there were also some scary moments and the chapter cliffhangers always have me wanting to read more.

As always, thanks for hosting @Librarybelle !!!

Pickpick

A soft pick for these two loosely-connected stories that take place on Nantucket a year apart. These were super Hallmarky and perfectly pleasant. I enjoyed the first more than the second, because the mom in the second story drove me kind of crazy. But the greatest tragedy is that I was 160 pages in and all of the sudden the book skipped to page 216!! Right at the big finale of chaos (you know, where the kid ran away with the puppy and supper is ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) getting ready to burn and the baby is coming early and someone's ex showed up unexpectedly... the usual Christmas stuff 😂) SO I caved and purchased this book for a SECOND time except in Kindle version! All in all I was missing about 40 pages, which is a lot when the story is only 195pgs long. But it all worked out because then I was able to search the Kindle version for word search words and found 674!!!!!

So yeah, not groundbreaking ⬇

Loose ends from first book are tied up. Kimball is a PI, hired by a former student (Joan) to find out if her husband (Richard) is cheating on her. Multiple POVs, let us understand events from the past, and tell us the story in the present. Lily Kintner makes an appearance. I enjoyed this book as much as the first one. One OMG moment for me! Overall, a very good read!

bthegood @jeannasser good to see you back, and doing well I hope. I am enjoying this Peter Swanson series (Kind Worth Killing is first one) - although I think you can read them on your own. Have a good day 🙂 3mo

@dabbe

Hello, Dissolute Readers (thanks for the name for the 1st book, @kwmg40 🤩)!

I have a schedule for all of us! It can easily be changed, too, if we need to. Discussions twice for each book (because they are quite detailed), and thrice for the last #chunkster!

1st discussion: 6/30/24 over the 1st half of DISSOLUTION. Can't wait!
Schedule link: https://bit.ly/3KhKlIP

Librarybelle Sounds great! My copy from PangoBooks is on its way! 7mo

bthegood @LiseWorks The holds for ebooks at my library were long waits but the physical copy I was able to pick up today. I'll see if that holds true for the rest of the series, especially since the tv series begins soon🙂 (edited) 7mo
LiseWorks @bthegood There's a TV series. Where will this be playing? I decided to get it on Kindle. I never buy books, but the series sounds good. And I like to not rush reading long books. It's all good. 7mo
bthegood @LiseWorks glad you were able to get it - and I believe it is on Hulu - I think it began the first of May - 🙂 (edited) 7mo

Long book but worthwhile so far. I‘d love to finish it before Libby snatches it back again, but I‘ll be happy to get to the 50% mark. I barely remember anything more than the major details of the first four books, but that‘s okay.

For #seriesread2024 non-mystery edition I‘ve also activated the bail option for The Perfumist of Paris. As much as I enjoyed the first two books, this one just wasn‘t working for me.

TheSpineView I love a good chunkster! 11mo

I‘m in the middle of a couple long books, so I snuck this in under the wire for January. I predicted the perpetrator and knew about the change in the DI‘s situation, but neither panned out as I expected. All in all a good story.

Meanwhile for #seriesread2024 mystery edition and my #readorbail effort, I decided to bail on Boar Island since I really wasn‘t enjoying it. A friend of mine from Maine didn‘t like it, and considering that it‘s set there…

Susanita Next I‘ll either carry on with the last two books of the Stephens & Mephisto series or read this one I‘ve put on Libby hold: 11mo
TheSpineView It's OK to bail on a book you don't like. 11mo
