#Bibliophile #ZInTitle I read this years ago and really liked it . Captures the culture of Germany between the Wars .Rainer Werner Fassbinder did a 15 hour film version of this book. This book was also in the list of titles in this week‘s #ThreeListThursday quiz. Franz is out of prison, trying to built a life , gangsters, petty thieves, unemployment lines,& other challenges stand in the way of his stability.

dabbe Looks like a W🤩WZA one! 45m

#TLT #ThreeListThursday should say 1900s actually.
I‘m surprised I am not a bit higher. Really read many around the WWI era.
Room with a View , Howards End EM Forster fantastic. I love James Joyce, you don‘t need to read Ulysses, read Portrait of An Artist as a Young Man, The Jungle , Great Gatsby of course. E E Cummings Enormous Room is an impressive book about the WWI era.

dabbe I fixed the error; thanks for catching it. #TFPAS (Thanks for playing and sharing). 😊 47m

The Secret Agent | Joseph Conrad

ABYSMAL. I never thought I‘d be grateful for The Great Gatsby, but at least it enabled me to check one box. Hemingway was another and I‘ve already forgotten the other two. I‘ve owned copies of three of the pictured books (two for 30 years!) and lost all desire to read them. The only one on the list I still want to read is Conrad‘s The Secret Agent. #tlt #threelistthursday You‘re killing me @dabbe 🤣😭🤣

dabbe This list was horrific IMHO. Most of them I was like 😳! Never even heard of most of them. And I agree with your choices as far as they've been on the TBR, but I really don't want to read them, especially THE JUNGLE. Too many other more enjoyable ones out there! We'll have to find some better lists! #TFPAS (Thanks for playing and sharing). 😊 18h

7/100. Better than I thought I would get considering my history with these lists. 🤣

I don‘t know that any of them will make my TBR stack. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I‘ve read so much American literature because that‘s what I taught. So many titles here that I should have read!!

dabbe And I'm an American-Brit lit kind of gal! World lit? 😳 #TFPAS (Thanks for playing and sharing) 😊 1d

#ThreeListThursday #TLT @dabbe

There is no in between in this survey, I had either never heard of the book or I had read the book and a lot of the ones I did read I didn‘t like. My collection of 1001 Books to Read Before You Die is very different. It was nice to see E M Forster, Evelyn Waugh, James Joyce, and Virginia Wolfe. Special shout out to The Charwoman‘s Daughter for making the list.

dabbe It seems this 2018 version went WAY out of its way to include a lot more world literature, which is my weak point. 🤣 #TFPAS (Thanks for playing and sharing) 😊 1d

This is too funny. I thought that the 1700s would be my worst showing, and my scores would improve by the 1900s. But the 1700s were my best score, and they've gotten progressively worse. If I'm 100% honest, I don't know about some of these titles. 🫠 My only thought besides shame after this quiz is that I would like to read more Edith Wharton and Virginia Woolf. 😉😏😂
#tlt #threelistthursday @dabbe

ChaoticMissAdventures I want to read more Edith too! It's so interesting that the books of the 1900s have been a struggle for most of us. I wonder why that is. I really expect to see more Fitzgerald and Agatha Christie. 1d
dabbe @lil1inblue @ChaoticMissAdventures Oh, we are FAR from finished with the 1900s ... many more still to come. And my best score was in the 1700s, too! 🤣 #TFPAS (Thanks for playing and sharing) 😊 1d

Dismal is the word I would use to describe my results. The only reason my score was a ten instead of a 2 or 3 is I was forced to read some of these books on the list in school.

My favorites are: A Passage to India and The Great Gatsby.

If you scored more than 15 color me impressed.

lil1inblue I got 7. My inner student is so ashamed. 😭😂 😉 1d
ChaoticMissAdventures I scored 21 and I still don't understand how or why we all did better on the older books 😂 The real question is were there any on the list you want to read? There were not many I would pick up today and read. 1d
TheSpineView @ChaoticMissAdventures I doubt I will ever read any of this list. 1d
