I own an edition of this book and have used it as a checklist for more than a decade and i still didn't recognize all the books on the list. 😂

It's not necessarily we're not “well-read“ but rather a specific effort was made to create an international list so, for example, it includes classics from Scandinavian countries that are not well-known elsewhere.

Three books I don't remember reading:
The Roots of Heaven
The Guiltless
Death Sentence

kspenmoll Wowza!!!! 1w
RaeLovesToRead 90?! 🤯🤯🤯 Even with the book as a guide, that is really impressive!!! 1w
Liz_M @RaeLovesToRead So, sorry to disappoint you, but most of these books DO exist. 😆🤓 1w
See All 25 Comments
Liz_M @kspenmoll Thank you! I'm going to be at a complete loss once I decide I'm done with this list. 1w
TheBookHippie How much do you have to go yet ?? 1w
BarbaraBB You‘re my hero! I wonder if this 10% who apparently read more than you, do exist! Where can I take the quiz by the way? 1w
dabbe Beyond W🤩WZA! Has this book been your major book guide for the last decade? Thanks for the 3 not to read, too! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💙📚💚 1w
dabbe @BarbaraBB The lists are coming from me and #threelistthursday. If you want to follow me, they'll show up in your feed every week. If not, I'll gladly provide the links when you want them. 😊
Here's today's: https://www.listchallenges.com/1001-books-you-must-read-before-you-die-list5
1w
BarbaraBB @dabbe Thanks so much! Don‘t I follow you???? Must change that immediately 🤍 1w
BarbaraBB I read 58! Not bad but you‘re so far ahead of me 😀 1w
Liz_M @BarbaraBB The quiz stats are a little wonky -- both TheBookHippie & I are ranked #1 Also, how can it rank a person as #1 and then say 5% of users did better?!?? 🙃

58 is a lot! You read so much more than me and read way more TOB and prize-list books than me. 🌟
1w
Liz_M @TheBookHippie I've read about 980 books (sometimes I count half-completed books, sometimes I don't) from the 1318 books in all the various editions of this list. . 1w
TheBookHippie @Liz_M you‘re getting there!!! 🙃 it‘s fun to follow a list. 1w
BarbaraBB @TheBookHippie Are you reading the list too? 1w
TheBookHippie @BarbaraBB Nope. I didn‘t even know about it 🤣 1w
dabbe @BarbaraBB #woohooyou!!! I am not surprised one bit! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💙📚💚 1w
BarbaraBB @TheBookHippie and you read all of those 👌🏽 1w
BarbaraBB @dabbe Thanks for organizing ❤️❤️ 1w
TheBookHippie @BarbaraBB School. 🤣😵‍💫🤷🏻‍♀️ 1w
dabbe @BarbaraBB YW! I need to find other lists, so if you know of any, let me know! You're a major book guru! 😍 1w
BarbaraBB @TheBookHippie I‘m in awe! 1w
BarbaraBB @dabbe The 1001 list has been my guide for years. I have been neglecting it for the past few years but it‘s the mother list 🥰. What about Booker lists? 1w
dabbe @BarbaraBB Ooh, excellent idea! You've read lots of those, right? I look to you when you post things about them. I'll check it out! 😍 7d
TheBookHippie @BarbaraBB it‘s fun to talk about now 🤣😉 1d

We're on to list 2! Bye bye, scary 1700s. All of these are from the 1800s!
1. Survey link: https://www.listchallenges.com/1001-books-you-must-read-before-you-die-1800s
2. Share your score if you'd like.
3. Share your 3 favorites from the list or 3 that you might be interested in reading, or 3 you thought were horrible or a combo of whatever you'd like.
4. Tag a few!
Tagging JUST A FEW who've played before. 🤩

jenniferw88 1700s were NOT scary for me thanks to my MA 🤣 1mo
CSeydel Yikes, only 13, although a couple of my favorite books did make the list (Silas Marner and Tess of the D‘Urbervilles) 1mo
jenniferw88 18 this time! 1mo
See All 65 Comments
Chrissyreadit Only 9- but a lot of nf books. 1mo
Lynnsoprano Wow, only 12! However, there are 19th century authors who are missing from this list, whose books I would have expected to make the list—Hawthorne, Austen, Brontë, to name a few. 1mo
Bookwormjillk Ooof only 9! 1mo
Susanita @Lynnsoprano I guess the divisions are not entirely exact with so many books. There were some Austen and Brontë last week. In fact, without them my score would have been even worse! 1mo
Lynnsoprano @susanita Ah, that explains it. I was down with COVID last week—not bad except for the headache. I‘ll have to go back and look at that list. 1mo
BarkingMadRead I only had 15. I own like 5 or so more but haven‘t read them yet 🙈 1mo
Bklover 15- thanks to a years ago obsession with Jules Verne and HG Wells. And, of course, #hashtagbrigade 1mo
Librarybelle So bizarre—I did worse this week than last with only 13! And I call myself a classics reader! 🙄 1mo
willaful 12 for me. Alice and Little Women my favs, of course! I'd like to read What Maisie Knew. Calling the #HashtagBrigade ! 😁 1mo
dabbe @jenniferw88 Yay for you! I find them rather terrifying myself. 🤣 1mo
dabbe @CSeydel I think my score will be right around there, too! TESS was my #1 fave book in 2023 with the #hashtagbrigade! And we're currently reading THE MILL ON THE FLOSS. I loved MIDDLEMARCH, too. Is SILAS your favorite of hers? Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💜💚 1mo
dabbe @jenniferw88 #woohooyou Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💜💚 1mo
dabbe @Chrissyreadit 🎯🩵🎯! Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💜💚 1mo
dabbe @Lynnsoprano There are still more books from the 1800s coming your way! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💜💚 1mo
dabbe @BarkingMadRead We need to get them into the #hashtagbrigade! 😍 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💜💚 1mo
dabbe @Bookwormjillk I feel it! I haven't taken it yet, but I think I'll score around the same! Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💜💚 1mo
dabbe @Susanita @Lynnsoprano The list I have is ordered by centuries, but not necessarily in chronological order of that century. So, the 1800s could have one from 1813, then the next from 1802, then the next from 1889, and so on. 🤷‍♀️ 1mo
dabbe @Lynnsoprano I hope you're feeling better! 😍 1mo
dabbe @Bklover IKR? I still need to read WAR OF THE WORLDS. I've read his others, but not that one! 😱 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💜💚 1mo
dabbe @Librarybelle I think I'll score worse, too! But, man, some of those titles I have never even heard of! I'm more of a British Lit classics girl, not a world one. Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💜💚 1mo
dabbe @willaful Ooh, that one does sound good for the #hashtagbrigade, doesn't it? Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💜💚 1mo
Bklover Thanks for the tag! I truly appreciate it. 🩷🩷🩷. Also loved Tess with #hashtagbrigade (edited) 1mo
Susanita @Lynnsoprano Ugh. I hope you feel better! 1mo
Eggs 💗🌺💖 1mo
CogsOfEncouragement 19 for me this round. 1mo
ImperfectCJ I missed last week, so I'm playing catch-up. I've read 17 from this round. Love Alice and was surprised how much I enjoyed Kim and Sister Carrie when I read them. Now to post about last week's list! 1mo
dabbe @Bklover 💜💚💜 1mo
dabbe @Eggs 💜💚💜 1mo
dabbe @CogsOfEncouragement We scored pretty closely together this time! Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💚💜 1mo
dabbe @ImperfectCJ We're close in our scores! Added your choices to my TBR. Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💚💜 1mo
tpixie @dabbe yikes! 9% I am currently reading Les MIs! December 31 that‘ll get me up to 10%! ❤️‍🔥. @dabbe @CSeydel Tess is a favorite ❤️ (edited) 1mo
CSeydel @tpixie it‘s so good. Reminds me, I‘m due for a re-read … on the other hand, I still haven‘t read Jude the Obscure. Decisions decisions 1mo
CSeydel @dabbe believe it or not, I haven‘t read Mill on the Floss OR Middlemarch (despite having the latter on my shelf for like 3 years, gazing dolefully at me every time I walk by with another book in my hand). But yes Silas Marner is one of my favorite books of all books! 1mo
Faranae 30! Some of these authors feel over-represented, like they could have just chosen 1 or max 2 by that author and fit someone else in. Some of these I really have to vote against! I read André Gide's “fruits of the earth“ in French and yikes. Also I love Sherlock but just put the Hound on there and move on! 1mo
rwmg 29 Brings home how Anglocentric my 19th century reading has been, even if not completely so. But an embarrassing number where I've never heard of book or author. 1mo
AnnCrystal
Thanks for the tag
📚☺️👍🏼💝.
(edited) 1mo
peaKnit Ope, 5! I also love Tess, I see she is a popular read! I read it in Highschool. 1mo
Daisey I‘ve read 30 from this week‘s list, and that‘s with consistently reading from the 1001 list for the last several years. 1mo
tpixie @Daisey 🩷🩷🩷 1mo
tpixie @CSeydel I know it‘s so hard to do a reread when there‘s so many other books still left to read! 1mo
dabbe @tpixie You're in good company; most of us are between 5 and 25! Here's hoping the 1900s are better for all of us! And I think we should be able to include LES as 3 books just for its length alone! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💚💜 1mo
dabbe @CSeydel And SILAS is the one of hers I haven't read! 🤣 I adored MIDDLEMARCH and am enjoying MILL, though MIDDLE is better IMHO. I'm moving SILAS up on the TBR! 😍 1mo
dabbe @Faranae The Sherlock is a hard one for me as I am a MAJOR Sherlock fan. But I see your point. Perhaps only one book per author, right? Yet some writers are way better than others and contributed more to the overall literary aesthetics of history. Hard choices all around. BTW, you beat my sorry butt. Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💚💜 1mo
dabbe @rwmg 🩵🎯🩵 So many world authors I've never heard of, nor their books. I need the clock to slow down so that I can get to them! Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💚💜 1mo
dabbe @AnnCrystal YW! 🥰 1mo
dabbe @peaKnit I applaud any teacher who had high schoolers read TESS. I adored that book! 😍 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💚💜 1mo
dabbe @Daisey You know, some of them just don't look that appealing to me. I don't care how low my score may be, if I'm not even interested by the cover or the little snippet provided in the 1001 book, I ain't reading it! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💚💜 1mo
CatLass007 My score was 11 and I think I should get some credit for at least TRYING to read Les Miz three different times. But I didn‘t check it. A couple of these I‘m pretty sure I read so I checked them. I read most of these with #NoPlaceLikeHolmes, #HashtagBrigade, #RandomClassics, and #WhatTheDickens, so thank you #LITSY! I also DNF several others. But, as @dabbe reminds me, #HailTheBail #BetterBooksAhead (edited) 1mo
CatLass007 Three that I own and want to read are Anna Karenina, War and Peace, and Middlemarch. 1mo
TheLudicReader 🤣 7. I still have the essay I wrote about Tess. Hated her. But I loved The Mayor of Casterbridge. 1mo
catiewithac 27/100 but why so much Zola? It was a weird list. 1mo
dabbe @CatLass007 YES! I love book surveys, but I don't always agree with them. If the book doesn't look good to me, I don't care who thinks I should read it! 🤣 And 🎯 for all of the books thanks to Litsy. I feel the same way. Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💜💚 1mo
dabbe @CatLass007 If I had to put these in order of what I enjoyed, I'd say MIDDLEMARCH, ANNA KARENINA, then WAR AND PEACE. But don't listen to me! 🤣 1mo
dabbe @TheLudicReader Well, here's something where we aren't in sync. TESS was my favorite read of 2023 (maybe that was a crappy reading year! 🤣). I want to read that essay when I get there! And I never read MAYOR, but I adored FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWS. That Hardy! #oy Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💜💚 1mo
dabbe @catiewithac I guess Zola is Ze besZt. 🤣🤷‍♀️😍 I've never read anything by him! Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💜💚 1mo
tpixie @dabbe lol Les Mis as 3 books yes! (edited) 4w
tpixie @CatLass007 I‘m hoping to read Anna K next year. I missed out on @TheBookHippie buddy read this year 4w
CatLass007 @tpixie I didn‘t know there was a buddy read to miss. 4w
dabbe @tpixie 🎯🩵🎯 4w
tpixie @CatLass007 🩷 it‘s hard to keep up with all the buddy reads!! 4w
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I think I'm coming in with the lowest score: 4! I'm confident enough to carry that torch. 🤣 I enjoyed Little Women & Dracula. Jekyll & Hyde and Alice's Adventures...not so much. I am not familiar with many of these. I should probably do a little research and bump myself up to a nice, round eight books read. 4w
dabbe @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Some scored “0“, so you're not the lowest! Even if you were, who cares? 🤣 I loved Jekyll & Hyde, but did NOT care of any of Alice's adventures! Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💜💚 4w

#ThreeListThursday @dabbe #TLT

I scored better than last week, though not by much. There were so many great books in this group that spanned totally different genres. My favorites are (not in any order):

The Clan of the Cave Bear
Good Omens
Black Beauty
Emma
Matilda
The Hobbit
LOTR
Dune
The Pillars of the Earth

BarkingMadRead I‘ve read 49! 1mo

Soubhiville Terry Pratchett should be popular everywhere! He‘s a favorite of mine. 1mo

Soubhiville I‘ve read 47, and I‘d say my favorites are LOTR, Terry Pratchett‘s, and Watership Down. 1mo
dabbe @Soubhiville Good to know! I didn't get around to reading him for #AuthorAMonth, but he is now on my major radar thanks to you! 💙🩵💙 1mo
dabbe @Soubhiville #woohooyou! Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💜💜 1mo
CogsOfEncouragement 43 for this one. So many good ones too. Some I‘ve enjoyed more than once. 1mo
CSeydel I got 47. My favorites are probably Rebecca, A Christmas Carol, and Wind in the Willows 1mo
CSeydel But Terry Pratchett‘s books are excellent also! He has a way of combining wordplay, satire and fantasy to hilarious effect (edited) 1mo

dabbe @TheSpineView YW! 😍 1mo
Amiable Again with the Pratchett! 😬 Mine was 39 this week. “A Prayer for Owen Meany” is my favorite book. But I also loved “A Suitable Boy” and “A Town Called Alice.” 1mo
dabbe @julesG He must be one of the best writers ever! Thanks for playing and sharing! 💜💜💜 1mo
dabbe @peaKnit No palm slapping allowed! 😘 I have a feeling my score will be right there in with yours. I don't think I read any from 50-100! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing! 💜💜💜 1mo
dabbe @Amiable All 3 I haven't read but are on the TBR, thanks to you! I agree about Pratchett. I am totally missing something! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing! 💜💜💜 1mo
peaKnit Thank you!! I‘d have been in bigger trouble had Harry Potter not rescued me lol! Many on my TBR all the same:) 1mo
Amor4Libros 13! 😅 Harry Potter helped me get to double digits 🤣 1mo
Lesliereadsalot I read 36 thanks to taking two semesters of Russian novels in college, along with both 18th and 19th century British novels. I did love those Russian novels, long as they were! 1mo
TheLudicReader 30. How can I even call myself a reader? 1mo
BooksandCoffee4Me @TheLudicReader I feel the same way with 39! I‘m going to rationalize that as an English teacher, I had to read several of these repeatedly which left me with too little reading energy for the others. 😊 1mo
Lynnsoprano 25 🙄 Mostly the English classics. I‘m hanging my head 1mo
Librarybelle 31 for me. There are a few I am in the middle of, but still, ouch! 1mo
dabbe @peaKnit I love how they linked the HP books separately here but only as one book (series) on the American Great Read. More bang for your buck on this list! 🤩 1mo
dabbe @Amor4Libros Yay for HP! 😍 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💜💜 1mo
dabbe @Lesliereadsalot I bow to your wow. I could NEVER had survived two semesters of Russian novels! 😱 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💜💜 1mo
dabbe @TheLudicReader No talk like that, missy! 😘 You are the queen of contemporary literature, and there weren't so many of those on this list. And again, who puts MATILDA alongside WAR AND PEACE? Totally weird list! I bet I score right around where you did. Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💜💜 1mo
dabbe @BooksandCoffee4Me 🎯🩵🎯 Usually in my years of teaching English, I was lucky to read 15-20 completely new books all year! I'd constantly have to reread the ones I taught because I had to be ready for those smart kids who would ask me persnickety questions! 🤣😍🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💜💜 1mo
CSeydel It‘s a very odd list! 1mo
dabbe @Lynnsoprano No hanging your lovely head! 😘 I know I'll score around the same! We just have more books for our TBR. Except I don't think I'll add all 30+ Pratchetts and Wilsons! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💜💜 1mo
dabbe @Librarybelle I'll be ouchie right there with you! It's a quirky list, to say the least! Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💜💜 1mo
dabbe @CSeydel 🎯🩵🎯! 1mo
rwmg 59 including those started but not finished (looking at you Gabriel García Márquez) and some I know I've read but cannot remember anything beyond the title. 1mo
dabbe @rwmg W🤩WZA! Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💜💜 1mo
Amor4Libros @TheLudicReader I got 13! 🤣🤣 1mo
dabbe @Amor4Libros Way better than zero! Seriously, though, what a weird list! Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💜💜 1mo
Deblovestoread Thanks for the tag! 1mo
AnnCrystal Thank You For The Tag 🥳👍🏼📚💝. 1mo
AnnCrystal 🤔😂 I've decided to whisper my total instead of shouting it out...1/100 · 1% 🧐🤔🤗.

I have some of these in my bookshelf waiting for me...and I have watched some as movies...

📚💝.
1mo
AnnCrystal My three, must read someday: Harry Potter books, the Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, and The Christmas Carol ☺️📚💝. (edited) 1mo
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I'm at 26 from this list. I hated better than the bottom half of the list. I do have others on my TBR, so it would be interesting to come back in a couple of years to see if I've done better. I really do need to read some Pratchett. Faves here are LOTR trilogy, HP & the Goblet of Fire, and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. (I'm surprised by the last one as I'm not a big Sci-Fi fan, but it was accessible. ) 1mo
tpixie Hmm 36% 1mo
dabbe @Deblovestoread YW! 😍 1mo
dabbe @AnnCrystal YW! 😍 1mo
dabbe @AnnCrystal You are adorable! I say movie watching counts! It's sometimes hard for me to read a book after I've seen the movie, especially if it closely follows the novel. Thanks for playing and sharing! 💜💜💜 1mo
dabbe @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I don't think I read anything on the lower half of the list! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💜💜 1mo
dabbe @melissajayne Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💜💜 1mo
dabbe @tpixie We're close in our scores! Thanks for playing and sharing. 💜💜💜 1mo
dabbe @AnnCrystal Especially A CHRISTMAS CAROL. I reread that one (and see a bunch of movie variations) every year during holiday season. 🎄 1mo
Bklover 43! Thanks for the tag @dabbe 🩷 1mo
dabbe @Bklover YW! 😍 1mo
AnnCrystal @dabbe it is difficult to appreciate a movie that has been separated from the book it came from. I only really had a bit of trouble once, with the movie Valentine's. Tom Savage book version was so much better, although I did enjoy watching david boreanaz 😍😂.

🤩👍🏼💝. We always watch the Christmas Carol movies, every year we try to watch all the different versions that show on TV. Really must read the book! ☺️👍🏼📚🎬💖.

CSeydel 42 … I‘m exactly average 🤣 4mo
melissajayne 43 for me 4mo
rwmg 38, which I was surprised by. There were a couple that sounded vaguely familiar and which I might have seen on TV and forgotten about. 4mo
Amor4Libros 30…I thought it was going to be lower 😅 4mo
willaful Only 29 for me. I'm not that into the sort of movies that win Oscars, apparently. 4mo
Blueberry 37, it was hard to remember some. 4mo
nelsonmatt890 I like to connect with you and read, lol. 4mo
AnnCrystal Thanks for the tag 🎬🥳💝. 4mo
TheLudicReader 42! I am exactly average, too, @CSeydel ! 4mo
kspenmoll 38 but now I want to see some of the older films. I mostly skip movies with war & too much violence- lingers in me too long 4mo
Amiable Oh, man, only 29 for me. I‘m not a big movie person (weird, I know). I did love “The King‘s Speech.” And also, how DO you solve a problem like Maria? 🧐😀 4mo
Cheryl_Russell 6, which is more than I thought I would get. 😂😂. Obviously not a big movie person. 😂🤣 3mo
shortsarahrose 40! But I minored in film studies in college and watched a lot of old musicals during the pandemic 💃 3mo
The_Penniless_Author Thanks for the tag! Only 36 - I really thought it would be higher. Favorites would have to be Casablanca, Godfather 1 and 2, and No Country for Old Men. 3mo
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Only 16. My tastes tend to run more pop-culture then critically acclaimed. Now, ask me about goofy sex comedies over the years, well, I've seen Porky's 100 times! 🤣 3mo
Read4life Only 19! I need one for sports movies. 😂😂 3mo
Bklover 35. Favorites would be Silence of the Lambs, Terms of Endearment, and Dances With Wolves. Oh, and Titanic. 3mo
CSeydel @TheLudicReader woohoo 🙌🏻 (edited) 3mo

dabbe @kspenmoll Same here! Most of the movies I have seen from this list are the older ones, especially musicals and such. Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 3mo
dabbe @Amiable You're not weird at all! I haven't been inside a movie theater since INSIDE OUT came out! I love watching old movies, though. And double also, how do you catch a 🌥️ and pin it down? 🤔🤩🤗 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 3mo
dabbe @Cheryl_Russell_BookNotes I haven't been lately, either! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 3mo

dabbe @Read4life Oh, I love sports movies! My faves are probably HOOSIERS (rip Gene Hackman 🥺), the original BRIAN'S SONG, and RUDY. What are yours? Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 3mo
dabbe @Bklover Wowza, what a list! You nailed some fab ones! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 3mo
Read4life Hoosiers is my top for sure!! I also love The Sandlot, Field of Dreams, Rudy, Miracle, oh I can go on and on!! Watching Hoosiers & The Replacements this weekend (Gene Hackman 💔) 3mo
shortsarahrose Film noir is good, but my heart belongs to mid-century film melodramas, especially anything from Douglas Sirk. Written on the Wind is my favorite, but All that Heaven Allows and Imitation of Life are also great. I also love anything with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Swing Time is my favorite of theirs (except for the black face - might be the only film I‘ve seen Astaire do black face in), but all of them are fun. 3mo
dabbe @Read4life I'm definitely rewatching HOOSIERS this weekend. Totally forgot about THE REPLACEMENTS, too! 🥺 3mo
dabbe @shortsarahrose I need to look more into mid-century films. And 🎯 to Astaire and Rogers! 🎶 3mo
tpixie @shortsarahrose @dabbe did you know that Fred sister was actually thought to be a better dancer? I didn‘t even know he had a sister!! Until I read 3mo

#ThreeListThursday @dabbe

Impossible to resist a “greatest books” list.

I‘ve read 56 of the 100 books which puts me, at the moment, at #20 on the list.

Favorites include the tagged book—love it and The Fellowship of the Rings—as well as I Want My Hat Back (love Klassen), American Born Chinese, and The Graveyard Book.

Books I would add: The Lightning Thief (first Percy Jackson), Stuck (Oliver Jeffers), & The Monster at the End of this Book.

dabbe #woohooyou! You kicked my sorry butt! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 5mo
TracyReadsBooks @dabbe I benefitted from working in a school library for many years! Fun to revisit some favorites…some of which I still reread when I want to spend time with a great story. 5mo

#ThreeListThursday #TLT

So many I haven't heard of; quite a few I now want to read. The three in the pic above are my favorites that did NOT make the list. As some Littens have stated, the list was interesting to say the least. Even the BBC states that it “also has its limitations and biases“ and that “the list is not designed as a fait accompli, but rather as an inspiration for further discovery and debate.“ ⬇️

dabbe The BBC article was published in 2023, so it is quite recent. For more information or to tell them your thoughts about the list, visit this link:

DogMomIrene 😲They didn‘t include Where the Red Fern Grows? One of my English teacher friends and I would hand that book out to incoming 6th graders and explain what a seminal work it is, even all these years later. 5mo
dabbe @DogMomIrene IKR? My 4th grade teacher read it to us after recess. None of us knew how it would end--including her. We all sobbed at the ending! 🤩😂🤩 5mo
DogMomIrene @dabbe Similar experience, except my 3rd grade teacher didn‘t finish the book before summer and then we moved across country😲 I couldn‘t remember the title so I would meticulously scan every Scholastic book fair table until I eventually found the cover. Took a couple of years, but I too sobbed so hard🐶❤️🐶 5mo
dabbe @DogMomIrene That book was an EXPERIENCE. 🐾😭🐾 5mo
