Leftcoastzen Link isn‘t working 2mo
Bookwormjillk I‘ve seen 27 which is about 25 more than I would have expected. This reminds me I‘ve been meaning to watch Shakespeare in Love. 2mo
CogsOfEncouragement 26 for me. My all time favorite movie is My Fair Lady. (edited) 2mo
See All 50 Comments
CSeydel 42 … I‘m exactly average 🤣 2mo
melissajayne 43 for me 2mo
rwmg 38, which I was surprised by. There were a couple that sounded vaguely familiar and which I might have seen on TV and forgotten about. 2mo
Amor4Libros 30…I thought it was going to be lower 😅 2mo
willaful Only 29 for me. I'm not that into the sort of movies that win Oscars, apparently. 2mo
Blueberry 37, it was hard to remember some. 2mo
nelsonmatt890 I like to connect with you and read, lol. 2mo
AnnCrystal Thanks for the tag 🎬🥳💝. 2mo
TheLudicReader 42! I am exactly average, too, @CSeydel ! 2mo
kspenmoll 38 but now I want to see some of the older films. I mostly skip movies with war & too much violence- lingers in me too long 2mo
Amiable Oh, man, only 29 for me. I‘m not a big movie person (weird, I know). I did love “The King‘s Speech.” And also, how DO you solve a problem like Maria? 🧐😀 2mo
Cheryl_Russell 6, which is more than I thought I would get. 😂😂. Obviously not a big movie person. 😂🤣 1mo
shortsarahrose 40! But I minored in film studies in college and watched a lot of old musicals during the pandemic 💃 1mo
The_Penniless_Author Thanks for the tag! Only 36 - I really thought it would be higher. Favorites would have to be Casablanca, Godfather 1 and 2, and No Country for Old Men. 1mo
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Only 16. My tastes tend to run more pop-culture then critically acclaimed. Now, ask me about goofy sex comedies over the years, well, I've seen Porky's 100 times! 🤣 1mo
Read4life Only 19! I need one for sports movies. 😂😂 1mo
Bklover 35. Favorites would be Silence of the Lambs, Terms of Endearment, and Dances With Wolves. Oh, and Titanic. 1mo
CSeydel @TheLudicReader woohoo 🙌🏻 (edited) 1mo
dabbe @Bookwormjillk S in Love is excellent! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿💚📽️ 1mo
dabbe @CogsOfEncouragement Audrey Hepburn is beyond elegant, isn't she? And I had a huge crush on Sexy Rexy! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @CSeydel For these surveys, that's a great place to be! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @melissajayne #yahooyou! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @rwmg I hoped you counted them! Did you think you'd score more or less? Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @Amor4Libros Nice surprise, huh? 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @willaful I have a lot more that I want to watch! I haven't been into the later movies at all for some reason. The last one I saw in a movie theater was INSIDE OUT! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @Blueberry IKR? Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @nelsonmatt890 The books are ALWAYS better than the movies! 🤩🤣🤩 1mo
dabbe @AnnCrystal YW! 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @TheLudicReader You're in excellent company! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @kspenmoll Same here! Most of the movies I have seen from this list are the older ones, especially musicals and such. Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @Amiable You're not weird at all! I haven't been inside a movie theater since INSIDE OUT came out! I love watching old movies, though. And double also, how do you catch a 🌥️ and pin it down? 🤔🤩🤗 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @Cheryl_Russell_BookNotes I haven't been lately, either! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @shortsarahrose I'm a sucker for older movies, especially film noir. Do you have a favorite? Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @The_Penniless_Author IKR? But then those first movies in the early 1930s, I was like 😳 Now I have a TBW list! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Or me with rom-coms or film noir! I haven't seen Porky's in ages ... time to revisit! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @Read4life Oh, I love sports movies! My faves are probably HOOSIERS (rip Gene Hackman 🥺), the original BRIAN'S SONG, and RUDY. What are yours? Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
dabbe @Bklover Wowza, what a list! You nailed some fab ones! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 1mo
Read4life Hoosiers is my top for sure!! I also love The Sandlot, Field of Dreams, Rudy, Miracle, oh I can go on and on!! Watching Hoosiers & The Replacements this weekend (Gene Hackman 💔) 1mo
shortsarahrose Film noir is good, but my heart belongs to mid-century film melodramas, especially anything from Douglas Sirk. Written on the Wind is my favorite, but All that Heaven Allows and Imitation of Life are also great. I also love anything with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Swing Time is my favorite of theirs (except for the black face - might be the only film I‘ve seen Astaire do black face in), but all of them are fun. 1mo
dabbe @Read4life I'm definitely rewatching HOOSIERS this weekend. Totally forgot about THE REPLACEMENTS, too! 🥺 1mo
dabbe @shortsarahrose I need to look more into mid-century films. And 🎯 to Astaire and Rogers! 🎶 1mo
tpixie @shortsarahrose @dabbe did you know that Fred sister was actually thought to be a better dancer? I didn‘t even know he had a sister!! Until I read 1mo
tpixie 40/96=0.417 46% 1mo
dabbe @tpixie They were quite the pair ... until he went solo ... well, sort of. 🤩 1mo

#ThreeListThursday @dabbe

Impossible to resist a “greatest books” list.

I‘ve read 56 of the 100 books which puts me, at the moment, at #20 on the list.

Favorites include the tagged book—love it and The Fellowship of the Rings—as well as I Want My Hat Back (love Klassen), American Born Chinese, and The Graveyard Book.

Books I would add: The Lightning Thief (first Percy Jackson), Stuck (Oliver Jeffers), & The Monster at the End of this Book.

dabbe #woohooyou! You kicked my sorry butt! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🩵🩶 3mo
TracyReadsBooks @dabbe I benefitted from working in a school library for many years! Fun to revisit some favorites…some of which I still reread when I want to spend time with a great story. 3mo

So many I haven't heard of; quite a few I now want to read. The three in the pic above are my favorites that did NOT make the list. As some Littens have stated, the list was interesting to say the least. Even the BBC states that it “also has its limitations and biases“ and that “the list is not designed as a fait accompli, but rather as an inspiration for further discovery and debate.“ ⬇️

dabbe The BBC article was published in 2023, so it is quite recent. For more information or to tell them your thoughts about the list, visit this link:

dabbe @peaKnit So many I hadn't even heard of! Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶🖤🩶 3mo
DogMomIrene 😲They didn‘t include Where the Red Fern Grows? One of my English teacher friends and I would hand that book out to incoming 6th graders and explain what a seminal work it is, even all these years later. 3mo
dabbe @DogMomIrene IKR? My 4th grade teacher read it to us after recess. None of us knew how it would end--including her. We all sobbed at the ending! 🤩😂🤩 3mo
DogMomIrene @dabbe Similar experience, except my 3rd grade teacher didn‘t finish the book before summer and then we moved across country😲 I couldn‘t remember the title so I would meticulously scan every Scholastic book fair table until I eventually found the cover. Took a couple of years, but I too sobbed so hard🐶❤️🐶 3mo
dabbe @DogMomIrene That book was an EXPERIENCE. 🐾😭🐾 3mo

This was a fun one, as someone who now also teaches children's literature.

My favorites:
- Matilda by Roald Dahl
- The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
- The Arrival by Shaun Tan (though I wouldn't consider this a children's book!)

Ones I think should have been included:
- When You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff
- Sisters by Raina Telgemeier
- Holes by Louis Sachar

Amiable An also -- how is the Shardlake series? I've seen a few of you guys reading them for a group -- are they good? 3mo
Soubhiville Congratulations! That‘s great. 3mo
dabbe @Amiable I may be biased (since I lead the group), but I ADORE THEM! You've got Tudor England, a complicated and lovable hunchback detective named Shardlake (that's what he calls himself), and his arse of a sidekick Barak. Check it out if you're interested! #shardlakeseriesbr 🤩🤗🤩 3mo
dabbe #woohooyou! 🤩🤩🤩 3mo
Amiable @dabbe I do like a good Tudor novel! I‘ll definitely give it a go. 3mo

I couldn't limit myself to just three favorites! There were a few books in the list I hadn't read, but I'd read others by the authors (I didn't count them, nor did I count movies).

Thanks for the tag, @dabbe ! #TLT #ThreeListThursday
