I forgot how much this book rocks. Vimes is such an intriguing, hilarious character, and Lady Sybil...ADORE her. Everything about this book just shocks the hell out of me. Considering when it was published, Pratchett's stance on transgender rights is fucking fabulous. I don't think I caught that the first time I read this. People underestimate the ability of SFF to make a goddamn statement, even if it is “only“ genre fiction. ⬇

Whoa. That was #dark. And surprisingly funny. Lots of violence and gore and 🔥🔥🔥 scenes. Couldn't put it down once I got going. Definitely a #bookrecommendation for those who like their romance a little twisted. Also, it's kinda hard to tell, but there's definitely #blood on the cover.

Another cozy fantasy romance (coromantasy?) in the bag for #HauntedShelf. This one I got from NetGalley. Overall, mostly enjoyable. The protagonists are sweet, the town is charming and quirky, and the romance is slow building. My only quibble is that the plot itself seemed to peter out a little too soon. Still, I recommend it. It's a lovely read for this time of year.

I found out some truly distressing/heartbreaking news this week (I'm fine, my family's fine), so I binge read this book to soothe my heart. I have been extremely fortunate in my life to not have experienced much deep loss in my life, but this book healed my bruised heart in ways it's hard to explain. I can't overstate how much the descriptions of death made me feel better. Highly recommended.

This was so bananas. Many of the references went over my head, but I think that's because this book was set in the 1950s, but published in 1990, and I read it in 2024 🤣🤣. Anyway, the story was beyond bizarre, but I could not put it down. Highly recommended!

Depressing and informative. And grizzly bears are scary AF!

This was surprisingly compelling. I don't know why I was surprised, as I loved Transmetropolitan, but I guess it's because I wasn't a fan of Ellis' other novel. This is a really terrific police procedural, with the expected rough language and flashes of gore-ish violence. Still, really enjoyed this.

Finished my #aam today. What an incredibly compelling mystery. The descriptions of Australia in the midst of an intense drought was.... Damn, so horrifying. The mystery was depressing AF and the characters were complicated. I highly enjoyed this and might actually continue the series 🤣🤣

Finished my first #aam title! This was fantastic. Some of the stories were fairly disturbing, but overall I highly recommend this. I haven't been able to get into her novels, so I'm pleased I enjoyed this.
