Wow Christie never ceases to amaze!! There were sort of two layers of twists, which was absolutely fabulous. The ending....lovely and unexpected! It was also really nice because Poirot was especially methodical in keeping track of the suspects, making it really easy for a reader who might want to put the book down sometimes to stay on top of all the characters :) really enjoyable!! One of my favorites of hers!

Okay this book literally saved my life while I was trapped for 12 hours in the Atlanta airport due to a layover gone wrong. It totally made me forget about my terrible situation; my only negative is that it wasn‘t longer... I wish we could have gotten to see more interplay between Korede and Ayoola after their past was explained. Loved the mix of absurdity of the murders with the serious sister relationship and family ties. Would highly recommend!

Truth is literally stranger than fiction in this recounting of the ride and downfall of the medical testing company Theranos. What I wouldn‘t give to see the unfiltered thoughts that were going on in Elizabeth Holmes‘s head throughout everything, although this will probably never happen. Such a fast and engaging read! Friendly to those with and without a science background!

It gets better and better every time I read it! What a fantastic end to an amazing series!
Also, I had so much fun at Harry Potter trivia! My team got third in the week about half blood prince and fifth at deathly hallows (and we had been first at the half!) so much fun; hoping to do more trivia in the future, esp book related trivia!

I can‘t believe how emotional the scene still is when Harry sees his parents‘ grave even after I‘ve read the book so many times!

Picked up these two bad boys from the library today! Just started on Bridge of Clay — has anyone else read it? It‘s off to a pretty weird start so far... do things start to make sense eventually?

A bit scandalous for me to be reading the series out of order, but I need to be fully prepared for trivia night in my town that‘s based on the HBP book and movie! Trivia night is this coming Monday — wish me luck! :)

It was a mix of both high (waited to borrow from library for ~9 months) and missed expectations for me. I just don‘t think that St. James pulled off the two different storylines well enough — potentially the time gap between them was just too large. I really only liked the past girls. The ending sentiments were nice but came out of no where IMO. And the ghost story on top of everything was just too much! Simplification would have helped

A beautiful book full of comics detailing the adventures and reflective moments that the author had while biking from Arizona to Georgia. Although the art style is rough and simple, the stories Eleanor Davis told in these comics touched me greatly. I loved especially her comics on TX, as I did undergrad there and miss it. Very true, raw and full of nature. It felt like she bared herself to the world through these comics and it was so beautiful!

Wooo!! Had such a great weekend—learned a lot from the #24in48 I did last year so I definitely had a wider variety of books to read and tried my best to save books for this weekend that I was most interested in reading. Overall finished two audio books, one novel, three graphic novels and am halfway through my last read. Also made it over my personal goal of 20 hours woo!! Hope everyone had as much fun as I did 😊

Starting my last #24in48 read woo!

I learned a lot about what the re-reduction program in 1970s China was like. I also liked the crazy situations the boys got into. I didn‘t like how poorly “The Little Seamstress” was treated in the text—how the boys wanted to culture her and how the narrator was only interested once she became more cultured. Also she had no name :( BD Wong read character voices weird, esp. women. Nearly a pan for how much I felt like she was treated like an object

Going to best my last years time of 17:15, but it‘ll be a close call to see if I make it to the full 24. Weird story, but enjoying having the flexibility of the audio book! #24in48

Twists and turns abound over all the pages of this novel! Can‘t say anything without spoiling it all, but literally didn‘t see anything coming. Very exciting and fun puzzle of a read. Will definitely keep an eye out on Turton‘s future publications. Happy to have read this nearly all in one go during #24in48! Much easier to keep track of characters. Would not recommend audio of this book—it would be way to hard to keep track of everyone

Ooooh boy what a fun ride! I actually loved the audio read by Imogen Church—she had such distinct voices for the six main characters and there was a lot of tension in the scary scenes. V fun! Still weird how Nora was so distraught about events from ten years ago and how well she remembered everything...seems to be a common theme for Ware. Also wrapped up a bit too quickly. But still so fun! Also my first finish of #24in48 yay!!

Doing my first audio crochet! So relaxing, yet so exciting. Loving Imogen Church‘s audio of this book—all 6 characters are easily, audibly distinguishable! Very nice. But laughing at how dramatic Nora is when discussing her friendship and school life at 5—who really remembers that much?? Also making my first big crochet project—a ribbed scarf!

Yasss my metal queen came to me in book form!! So this is just a cutie little book in which Retsuko (from the Netflix show Aggretsuko) gives some useful and some ridiculous advice about how to survive your office job life! Cue lots of metal and raging. Super cute but doesn‘t really reference or advance the show at all. A fun present for big fans! (But needs more Gori—she‘s my favorite but was only in this book once!)

I was surprisingly blown away by this book! My heart was racing during multiple scenes and I read the whole book in two sittings. I can‘t remember the last book that made me feel like that! Also reallly happy that there indeed was a box full of birds in the book and that it totally made sense (the title had a big part to play in me not picking this up sooner). Can‘t wait to watch the movie soon!

For the title, there sureeee was a lot of focus on Achilles in this book... wished we could have had more unique storylines involving more of the Trojan “bed girls” in the camps (as well as the working women). Also wished Briseis wasn‘t so dang perfect—she was a pretty boring narrator. Would definitely recommend Madeleine Miller‘s myth retellings before this book.

Excited to be starting this title today! Looks like I‘m always down for a scary read, no matter what the season 😈

I‘ve been really into Greek myth retellings this year, esp. the Persephone myth (any Lore Olympus Webtoons fans out here?) and this one didn‘t fail to disappoint! Loïc was more just briefly inspired by the original story, but it was so cool to see where he went with it. Loved Demeter as a BA mage but also really appreciated Persephone‘s storyline, which gave her such agency and purpose. She‘s a v strong heroine! Art style is great for Ghibli fans!

Absolutely lovely. I love how many questions are left unanswered, but how perfect an ending it was. The Netflix adaptation was quite good too!

It‘s pretty slow paced in the beginning and Toby is massively oblivious to everyone‘s struggles around him and is pretty whiney for most of the book, but supporting characters really get to shine through at the end of the book. French also throws out a bunch of twists that leads to a melancholy ending that has me contemplating all of the deeply hidden motives and reasonings for action. I‘ll remember this one for a long time!

A beautiful novel that accurately captures the friendship between two preteen girls who vacation on the same lake in the summer—all the growing up drama, giggles and discovery. It feels very slice-of-life, so sort of meandering in the beginning, before reaching a climax that felt too dramatic to me in relation to the rest of the book. The beautiful art and nostalgia of childhood summer kept me attentive throughout. Can‘t wait for summer weather~

My name is Katy, but I took inspiration from one of my favorite childhood heroines, Lyra Silvertongue, when choosing my Litsy handle. I just reread His Dark Materials last year when prepping for La Belle Sauvage, and was touched when, in one of the short stories, it was revealed Lyra adopted the last name that Iorek had gifted her. A fun and easy psychological thriller! It‘s a fast read, but I liked how Mangan started explaining Alice and Lucy‘s backstory pretty quickly, so you weren‘t waiting forever. The backstory took multiple chapters to tell, which made it exciting when you finally could piece everything together. Tangier was a real character in this novel; very beautifully described. While there were some twists, i just don‘t I‘ll remember it well in a year or so

Loving my book outlet haul that came in today! Have somehow resisted the urge to buy for them for some time, but a recent sale got me hooked again. Excited to get so many more of my favorite Shakespeare editions, even though those will be on my shelves for awhile 😊

Wooo!! I‘d say this was a very successful first #24in48 readathon. Read two books in full, and finished a partially stated play and audiobook. Also got a little into Alias Grace; haven‘t read a new Atwood in a couple of years; looking forward to it! Amazed at how much time I do have to read; want to do more of it and less of TV and phone scrolling in weekends to come. Thanks for such a fun event @24in48 !! I listened to a terrible audio version—weird voices and read so slowly. It was nice by the end Tess was taking more action and standing up for herself, but more than half of the novel she was so frustratingly pitiful. Hated that most of the drama was from lack of communication. I have no idea how to process the ending; so unexpected and sudden. Wouldn‘t recommend; too many terrible characters. Happy to have this done after nearly 2 years! #24in48

Starting the second day of #24in48 with some nice YA to get myself going. Read the first book in the series nearly two years ago; excited to see how it will finish!

I really appreciated reading about the horrors and hardships the Okinawans endured during WWII. I had no idea how terrible the whole situation was for them. However, I found characters in Luz‘s time to not be well fleshed out (poor Jake, king of info dumping), and they didn‘t sound all that realistic to me. Some descriptions were weird, as was the ending. Would be interested in some nonfiction books on this subject. #24in48

So beautiful. I loved how Benjamin was not heavy handed in explaining how all the characters felt with the date pressing down on them; it was fun imagining how each sibling must feel. Wished there had a bit more magical realism elements in the novel, but still so happy to have read it

What a plucky protagonist! Flavia‘s got that great, dry, British sense of human with excellent word play and I love her love of chemistry. Great cast of supporting characters; hoping they get a little more two-dimensional later on. Mystery was fair--liked the British stamp details, but the whodunit was pretty obvious. Bradley also spends almost too much time laying the scene of Buckworth and the town; it was a little distracting from the mystery
