Wow! Super creepy! Well written. Thanks @Litlady for another great pick! Five stars
Please look at all these beautiful gifts I received from my wonderful friend @Litlady. Four Christmas books that I can't wait to devour. Just gorgeous! Also a Charlie Brown (my fav) number sticker book, a paper holiday craft, and 12 days of winter tea. Perfect cozy Christmas gifts. I'm so very thankful my friend! You outdid yourself once again. I hope you and everyone who celebrates had a very Merry Christmas! Happy holidays to everyone!
My spooky gifts from @Litlady are fantastic! I already did the dot bookmark today. I'll need the slippers and cute pumpkin mug real soon in PA. I love the Beetlejuice candy tin. The books all sound so perfect and creepy. Thank you so much @Litlady You always amaze me and I'm so grateful. Happy Halloween to you all!!!
My birthday was extra special yesterday thanks to my #litsypenpal and I‘m so thankful! That gardening set is gorgeous and this picture doesn‘t do any of it justice. The Jane Austen Escape Room!! I‘m so excited! Thank you sooo much @Litlady for so many wonderful gifts and your thoughtfulness! I am so lucky to call you friend.
I switched from audiobook to hardback. There were too many things I needed to remember. So far it's been fascinating. Maple thinks so too.
Merry Christmas!!! Santa came (more like the best #litsypenpal) and brought me so many goodies. Teas, crochet kit, a lovely candle, and some good-looking books! Yay, I love bookish Christmas! Thank you so much @Litlady for the fabulous gifts! I'm definitely reading The Nutcracker very soon. I'm going to a musical of The Nutcracker this week. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!
I am convinced you are not human @Litlady because you are just too good. I couldn‘t have pick out better gifts for myself. I‘ve already gotten into the lotion, the word finder, and decorated the house with those sponges (that I get the biggest kick out of) and cute ghost pumpkin. All the books look creepy and perfect. Thank you so much my friend! My #litsypenpal is the best! Happy Halloween to all!!!
Library sale finds! Momo is checking them out. 😺🐶
I have to say I'm truly spoiled on my birthdays. This year was no exception. My #litsypenpal is the best! Simon thought so too so he decided to model all the goodies. Shortbread, yummy Mickey Mouse tea, honey spoons, jelly beans, face masks, and four books I'm very excited to read. Ohh I can't forget that dog cloth bag because it‘s now my favorite thing. It's got so many pockets! @Litlady you are amazing! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! ❤️
What a wild ride! Louise goes back to her childhood house to clean it out and get ready to sell. Meanwhile, her brother gets in her way and causes his usual drama. They must try and put their differences aside to face the evil that lurks within their childhood home and unlock family secrets along the way. Many twists and turns. I couldn‘t predict anything if I tried. I listened to it and now can‘t get the creepy voices out of my head. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I haven't been reading much this year. My great #litsypenpal has come to the rescue with some perfect holiday goodies. Books on point per usual, nutcracker salt n‘ pepper shakers (which I used for Christmas dinner but forgot to fill them), fun lip balms that I so desperately need, goodies for the pup, nutcracker notepad, and the best thing. It's a reading shawl! I love it all, @Litlady thank you so much!!!!Merry Christmas🎄and Happy New Year all!
Happy Halloween! This day is almost always dreary in PA. Good thing I have a fantastic #litsypenpal that always brightens my day with goodies. She is the best! There are four spooky books, a pumpkin candle, a scare-tea cat tea diffuser, Jack bookmark, a Jack and Sally crochet kit, and lots of yummy candy. A beautiful doggie card too. The cat came separately. 😺 Thanks a bunch @Litlady for making my Halloween special and spooky!!! 👻
I hate they changed the name, but know there is a Swedish version out there. I hope this is good. This is one of my favorite books. It may get me to finally go into a theater. It‘s been some dark years.
Birthday book extravaganza from my #litsypenpal guys! Wow! I can‘t get over it. She makes getting older so much better. There‘s a bookshop puzzle in the back that‘s hard to see. Also a beautiful journal, the cutest little animals you put on your plants, a female writers mug, and a Jane Austen bookmark and card. Plus four books that are on point. I love it all! I feel extremely blessed and grateful! @Litlady I can‘t thank you enough!!! Thank you!!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. I‘m a bit late due to a lot going on, but must show you all the goodies my amazing #litsypenpal sent me. I even got a couple books today as an extra treat because she‘s just that awesome! Thank you a million times over @Litlady for the magnets, Christmas convo cards (that are handy), hot chocolate, a balsam candle that smells divine, and all these great books. She‘s got the best taste! So grateful ❤️
I‘ve had this book for awhile, but so glad I waited to read it. After my Foxy passed last year, I didn‘t know if I could ever pick it up. Not only did it help my broken heart a little, it reminded me that the love of a dog is so special. I needed that more than ever right now. This book is so honest and inspiring. I give it all the stars! Thank you @Litlady for sending this to me!!!
My fabulous #litsypenpal sent me all these Halloween treats! I don't deserve you @Litlady for your book selections are top notch. Plus that doggie sleeve and vintage bookmarks are super cute. I've been waiting to open the Pez, but the Swedish Fish didn't make it to picture time. Thank you so much!!! I hope you and everyone here had a magical Halloween! 💀🎃👻
Oh Shirley Jackson! She is the queen of old houses and mysterious endings. This collection of short stories did not disappoint. I usually like clean endings that I don‘t have to wonder about, but I enjoyed the wondering with this book. All five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I had such a special birthday yesterday... minus the snow and poison ivy. My #litsypenpal sent me these awesome gifts which gave me the motivation to rearrange my bookshelves today. That wiener dog card is a magnet! ♥️There is a super soft book sleeve way in the back with birds and cats. The book picks are of course perfect. Even my husband was impressed. Thank you a hundred times @Litlady for all the lovely gifts! I am so very grateful! 🥳
Lori has some great stories and insight in this book! I was impressed with so much, but I learned the most from her sessions with patients. She also had her own therapist and wrote about her journey with him. I will DEFINITELY be rereading this (and taking notes). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 stars
This one felt different maybe because we are inside the husband‘s head. Wife has an affair and is searching for herself. The husband wants wife back, but must find himself a little as well. I just wanted to shake both and tell them about the wonders of therapy. Sounded like they could afford it. Mostly an enjoyable read, but came up a little flat and disappointing in the end. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
My litsy penpal sent Santa my way and boy did he deliver! Look at these fabulous gifts she picked out for me! I was hoping to get more of those amazing socks. Also got some fur mama magnets, lunar new year black tea, and books that I already started reading. Thank you so much @Litlady for all these beautiful gifts! This year has been rough, but I'm so grateful for your friendship. Merry Christmas!!! Happy Holidays to you all! ❄️
I listened to this on audio and it was a little all over the place for me. Given the author passed away before it was finished and people helped piece it together, I totally get it. I think this would have been better in print, but the narrator can do a good creepy voice. Catching the Golden State Killer was the author‘s one goal and she didn‘t live to see it happen, but helped keep the spotlight on this dangerous murderer. ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
This was one creepy gothic novel. A widow and cousin move into this house of horrors. Are they experiencing evil paintings come to life or is it all in their heads? There‘s a couple twists at the end to make you even more creeped out. 😬 four ⭐️‘s
Harvey helped me open my Halloween box from my great #litsypenpal. I had my eye on that Agatha Christie book when I spotted it a few weeks ago on a trip to Erie. I definitely have “The Year of the Witching” on my tbr too. Stickers and a calendar to start my new year off (please let it be better than 2020 🤞). Thank you so much @Litlady for such wonderful gifts. Happy Halloween 🎃
I'm watching a documentary on Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark on Amazon Prime and this popped up. How funny is that?
Very interesting book. I didn‘t know what I wanted for the main character, but she surprisingly figures it out after dealing with what everyone else wants/expects from her. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just started this book and made myself some tea with honey a friend and client gave me. Trying to read more this week and relax before soccer returns.
This book! All the stars ⭐️ He writes about racial injustice intertwined with music, with Ohio, with his life. What an insightful and talented author!
My #botm came in! I added “Untamed” as a sweet bonus. Both books sound so interesting that I may just read them this year! 😆 I just told my husband since we aren‘t out and about buying books now that maybe I can make a dent in my collection. 🤞
More birthday goodies just came from a friend. Him and I have been buddy reading the Miss Kopp books and I guess he‘s ready to start the 4th one. We won‘t quit either Miss Kopp! We‘re hooked!
Another entertaining read about the Kopp sisters. This one isn‘t my favorite in the series, but still great writing and character development. Definitely worth the read for me. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ and 1/2
Birthday goodies have arrived from the fabulous @Litlady 🥳 I‘m so blown away! She knew I needed some cheering up and really delivered. All those books!! 😍 There‘s a journal for keeping me positive, a pretty Jane Austen mug for my teas, and a gorgeous Sherlock Holmes scarf! Perfection! I left this displayed on the table and kept telling my husband to look at all the beautiful gifts. Thank you friend! You made this birthday much brighter!
New #botm came today! I was having trouble deciding between these two, but I ultimately picked Beach Read to keep things light. At checkout they then offered me another book for free since it‘s my birthday month. Woohoo!!
Well this was a surprise! The sarcastic heroine was just what I needed. Reminded me of when I was younger, but way less adventurous. Our main teenage character goes on a road trip of self-discovery and truth. Loved it all! The writing was so clever and witty. I feel like the author would be someone I‘d invite to dinner. If I did that sort of social thing.
I‘m ready for the new year! Happy New Year to all my Litsy friends. May 2020 bring lots of happiness and fabulous reads!
Have I ever told you I have the best #litsypenpal ever? She is the greatest gift picker I have ever known! I don‘t give her any ideas because I know whatever I‘m lucky enough to get will be perfect. That mug had me laughing. ❤️ Those socks look like heaven. Caramel popcorn? Yesss! Finally those books! I let out a gasp when I saw “The Starless Sea” because that was on my secret wish list. Thank you @Litlady you‘re the best! Merry Christmas!!!!
I only found out about the movie today, but it looks like they already changed the book cover. I guess I‘m out of the loop. https://collider.com/killers-of-the-flower-moon-movie-filming-dates-scorsese/
I finally finished this! It was enjoyable overall. Some parts toward the end I found strange then I thought the whole thing is strange. In a good way! It‘s mysterious and entertaining! The candle really helped set the circus scene 😜🎪 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️1/2
So these are my December books all picked to read next month. I just have to finish up on some Halloween ones. 😜I better get busy!
Happy Halloween Litsy pals! The best pen pal in the world sent me these spooky reads, fun wine socks, and a really cool bookmark. The card is gorgeous and matches my tablecloth. I love it all @Litlady 👻 I bet you can guess which one I‘m reading first. Thank you so much!!! Happy Halloween 🎃
This is my first experience with Lore and the author. I‘m listening to the author read this and his voice just isn‘t working. I need creepier and he sounds cheerful even. I‘m still enjoying the stories even with some of his cheesy lines at the ends. I‘ll read the other book in the series, but probably in his voice now. It‘s gonna haunt me 😂
Check out this sweet summer package my fabulous #litsypenpal sent me! Those clouds are salt n pepper shakers. So cute! The puppies are soaps that smell like rose, which is one of my fav scents. That book is spot on and I got super excited when I opened it. This is why you are in the book biz my friend. Thank you so much @Litlady !!! You‘re the best!! 🤗
I received this as a gift and was pleasantly surprised by the story. I admit I knew very little about Polio and iron lungs, but this book inspired research. This is a fictional book based on real people. A woman contracted Polio while pregnant decides to raise her new daughter with a trusted caretaker‘s help. The hardships they all face in the story make the mother question her decisions. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
One of the best books I‘ve ever read! The author wrote at the end that he lived in some of these places and built relationships with the people. That‘s how he really investigated evictions in Milwaukee. He also wrote about the landlords and what their processes and thoughts were to get a better picture. It opens your eyes to things you don‘t think about or just take for granted too. Five ⭐️ s
Went to Charleston, Illinois and Indianapolis this past weekend and found some good stuff! 😍
Miss Marple plays up the old lady charms and I‘m confident will find the murderer. I think this will help prepare me for a murder mystery escape room I‘m doing soon. After I mentioned that, a friend suggested I dress up in an old lady wig, sit in a chair the whole time, and give everyone else directions. 👀👣👂🏻🕵🏻♀️
Huge thanks to my AMAZING #litsypenpal! Wow!! This picture keeps cutting things out so that stinks, but you get the idea of the greatness. I‘m so thankful and super excited! I love it all, but when I saw “Just Mercy” I started jumping around. I‘ve had my eye on that one lately. I ❤️ the Kentucky notebook and I am always using and loving Lush! Thanks so much @Litlady 🤗🎉🐶You‘ve made this birthday gal very happy!
