Two almost identical girls go missing 13 years apart. One was released by her capture after three years of daily abuse and now she is one of the prime suspects in Olivia's disappearance.

Really slow pacing, pretty lame ending, would make a decent Lifetime Original movie, tho.

This was a pretty good book about two missing girls, taken 13 years apart. I was drawn in at the beginning to figure out who Olivia was and why she was so important. Why would the same person kidnap her 10 years after his last victim escaped? I couldn't figure out who the kidnapper was, even with a small cast of characters and it kept me guessing until the end.

This book was a good read for me. I definitely think there were a few aspects that could have been better but THE ENDING IS JAW DROPPING. I couldn‘t put it down once the ball started unraveling at the end. Great read!

A great debut thriller. I truly enjoyed reading this book. Great characters that were well developed. My heart aches for our protagonist Ella/Lainey with what she went through as a child and continues to struggle with today. I was hoping for a little more backstory and the “why” from the antagonist. But a great read that I will recommend to others.

I liked this mystery. It had a good amount of suspense and twists and an interesting plot. I feel like the main character was frustrating and hard to get into, but I still enjoyed the overall story and how it came together. #goodreadsgiveaways

I‘m not sure how I feel about this book. It was really entertaining, but the story line was super unrealistic. Sorry horrible review, but I just don‘t know about this one.

A page turner, to be sure, but there is one big question I am left with, that I don‘t think was fully explained. I tried going back and rereading to see if there was something I missed, but I can‘t figure out what happened to Ella/Lanie when she was first ‘abducted.‘ Did her Mom sell her to Tom? Why did the mom say she thought he‘d bring her back? It wasn‘t fully explained. Any insights appreciated

ferskner I got the impression that her mom used her as a prostitute, without thinking that she'd be kidnapped. The mom said that she'd wanted Ella to "earn her keep". But I don't know that it was explicit, or how much work the mom put into finding her. It seems like there would be a go between? I thought there were some big holes in the ending. 6y

Excellent thriller! I was a bit worried that this would be another main character with a drinking problem. And it was, but it was different. She was so broken. But so resilient. And I loved her. If you like thrillers, add this to your TBR. You won‘t be disappointed.

I love how original the main character of this novel is! So often in these sorts of thrillers/mysteries the main character(s) are at least middle class white people with resources easily available. Laine is so different, living in poverty all her life, burying the pain and memories under drugs and alcohol, used to people not believing her and actually treating her like a criminal. The final twist was a surprise too, which I love. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I highly recommend if you enjoy a good thriller!

Kaylamburson Welcome to Litsy!!! 🎉🎈 I do love thrillers, so I'll have to check it out! Do you have a favorite thriller? Or author? 7y
lnicole34 Thank you! Gillian Flynn is one of my favorite authors right now, I'd recommend all of her books! I mostly pick up random thrillers from used book stores. Do you have some favorites? 7y
Kaylamburson I do love Flynn! Gone Girl is one of my favorites! I also really loved Delaney's The Girl Before, Tana French, and Dark Matter which was different than anything I've ever read. 7y

Kidnapped, imprisoned, raped; Laine has three years' worth of memories that she keeps at bay with alcohol and pills. When a young girl goes missing- the spitting image of her younger self- Laine knows the monster in her past is responsible. Can she help save a little girl, or is she too broken to reach the truth? 💊⏳

My review TBR pile is getting a little high, especially since most of these need to be read and reviewed before the end of August! That might not seem like that big a deal, but it feels like it takes me forever lately to finish a book! I just need to win the lotto so I can do nothing but read OR learn how to speed read 😆. Anyone else have this problem?

Maggie0557 Time to stop with the Gillian Flynn comparisons; hypes a book too much and takes away from a perfectly good book on its own merit. 7y
