That was long and had a LOT in it. I kind of dig it though. Can‘t say that the writing is anything spectacular or that the narrator is great (why does the little person character have an Irish brogue? He‘s not a friggin leprechaun). 33 hrs is an investment. There were like able characters and unlikeable (Joffrey 👀). I‘m going to continue with the next book (it‘s rare that I don‘t finish a series anyway).

I loved the first season of this show and it‘s so accurate to the book! I‘ve already moved on to the second book. I hate how they ended the show but I am a reader of course so I have to read the books!

Very very long and hard to get through, but it keeps you on the edge for what happens next. The characters are extremely believable and the fantasy world is beautifully developed with history and languages and cultures. Highly enjoyed the book, even if at moments I wanted to lunch some of the characters.

Paced while watching the final episode - okay okay, only paced until 12 minutes before the end. 😁

Well, wow! Not exactly what I had expected, but I can live with this ending.

One day I might even 'read' the audiobooks. Once I've managed to get through #MountTBR.

alisiakae Great job on the steps! I‘m torn on the ending. I don‘t like how they handled Dany‘s arc in the last two episodes, but love where Job ended up. There were a few great little scenes though, like Bronn and Tyrion together on the small council. 5y

julesG @4thhouseontheleft Dany has been a bit nuts from the start. I started watching the whole show again a few weeks ago, and right in the first episode, when she gets into the too hot bath, you think she must be either very desperate, or a bit 'not right in the head'. I can't wait to find more of the tells in past series. Tyrion hinted at a few things when talking to Jon. - - I was actually hoping for Arya to still get a chance at killing Cersei. 5y

alisiakae Yeah, I thought that was really out of character for Arya to turn around after she talked to the Hound. Cersei also deserved a better death than death by rubble. I was looking forward to an Arya /Cersei confrontation. (edited) 5y

julesG @4thhouseontheleft And Bran the Brat?? Yes, it makes sense, but he's soooo wooden. No emotions. Again, makes sense, but he's not a very likable guy. Arya/Cersei b-fight would have been great. It was pretty lame her talking to the Hound and then leaving. Out of character, indeed. And why did we get several minutes of that fight between the Hound and the Mountain? 5y

julesG @4thhouseontheleft Jamie made sense. I think that was well done. Although he had a crush on, maybe even loved, Brienne, he went back to Cersei. 5y

so-so

ever wished that lord of the rings had more sex (and more dragons)?
i really liked the political aspects of the novel, and the world building and characters were astounding, but it did sometimes feel as if the sex and violence was inserted into scenes for no reason
i understand that reader interest (and scenes that let you take a break) are important but it could‘ve been so much shorter if some of the adult scenes were taken out

Snack break! I bought these a couple of weeks ago and hadn‘t opened them. These were the first 3 I pulled out. Since the show is winding down I thought I would revisit the actual books and get reacquainted since the lines are blurring in my memory of the differences. Have started the audiobook at night. Here‘s to whatever happens tonight on the show! 🥂 🍻
