The first-ever animated feature-length film, and a beloved classic, Disney Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a fairy tale for the ages and now in a beautiful collector's edition! After the Magic Mirror proclaims Snow White fairer than the Evil Queen, Snow White flees the jealous wrath of her stepmother and finds friendship with the lovable seven dwarfs. But Snow White can't escape the Queen's notice forever, and soon falls under her evil spell-a spell that can only be broken by true love. This beautiful landscaped, archive edition includes an introduction discussing the artistry behind the movie, as well as showcasing art that influenced the movie.

A part I noticed is when the man was about to harm Snow White but felt terrible and didn‘t. He didn‘t want to kill her because she did nothing wrong.

This book is traditional literature. I loved this princess and book. It‘s such a great story. The seven dwarfs add so much to the story and make it funny. The story can be scary for some kids so you have to be careful with children. This book keeps with the original tradition of this story. It made sure to keep the plot and characters the same.

PRESSING QUESTION! — In the Disney version of Snow White, are the dwarves intended to be short real humans with Dwarfism, or a magical Tolkien-esque race like Elves?

Please cite your evidence.

LauraJ Why are you trying to make me think on a Saturday night? 🤨 6y

Vansa They're clearly dwarves in the typical Germanic myth/ fairytale model, either way stand-ins for anti-Semitism! It's why Tolkien changed their character completely while writing Lord of the Rings- if you've noticed, the dwarves in The Hobbit are like the ones in Snow White, while in LOTR they're a far more heroic, noble race. 6y

jessinikkip I always assumed that like most myths and tales of the original Brothers Grimm tale, they were a separate race. However my best friend and I discussed and she believes they are meant to be more human, possibly relating to the Brothers having to work and care for their siblings after their fathers death. Snow White the mom taking care of 7 rambunctious boys (they were two of 9 kids so to exclude them leaves 7). 6y
Skyler I like to think that Snow White was just a giantess and that the dwarves were actually average height. 6y
julesG I don't know the Disney version. So I cannot answer your question. As a child, I thought the dwarves were like the average German garden gnome. Later, I thought they may have been a family of midgets. They work in the mines, which were small, narrow tunnels, so they had to be short. Even later, knowing about child labour, I came to the conclusion that they must be orphaned children. They are not very tall due to malnutrition. 6y
AsYouWish I never really thought about it, I guess I just thought they were short/shorter than Snow in the Disney version. Although in my favorite movie version they are the same size or taller than Snow, but they are all disfigured in some way due to the evilness of the queen. In fact if I remember correctly the queen turns one or more of them into garden gnomes when she finds out they are helping Snow. 6y
