Love the aesthetic of the illustrations; but man, is that in-illustration text hard to read. #middlegrademagic #summerofmiddlegrade
Three books that I am giving to my Grand-Daughter for her birthday amongst some other things for her jewellery box.
I loved listening to this Audible book. It‘s a fun story with great narration. I‘m looking forward to reading book two in this series . #bookwalkers #audible
🎧 Did you like the audiobooks in the How to Train Your Dragon series? Same author, same narrator.
Wizards & Warriors. Wizards have magic & Warriors don‘t.
Xar is the son of the King of Wizards & can‘t do magic.
Wish is the daughter of the Warrior Queen & has a forbidden magical object.
Will they end up coming across each other fighting a common foe? Very engaging.
David Tennant narrates. I could listen to him tell any story!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2t
I read the book and listened to the audio at the same time. I must say, David Tennant sold the story for me. His narration was amazing, one of the best I have ever listened to.
The story was well written. I loved going on the journey with such quirky characters. It would make a great movie, but for now, I'm content with the audiobook.
All the stars. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We are so excited that it‘s a series of 4 books, hopefully all read by Tennant. I‘m going to request my library gets the rest of the series ASAP! Both my boys, 12 and 10, loved it and I loved it just as much.
Listening to the amazing David Tennant narrate this book with my sons, on the way home from school everyday. It is fantastic. My 12 year old even commented on the writing style. We are absolutely smitten with it.
“This is the problem with adventures. They bring out parts of you that you never even knew were there.”
Another fantastic narration by David Tennant.
Today I‘ve been listening to another audiobook narrated by David Tennant 😍 and working on the finishing touches of a quilt made from men‘s dress shirts. (And making GF banana bread muffins om nom nom).
What fun has everyone else been up to lately? :)
Mesmerising writing, stunning illustrations, a gripping, twisty storyline with as many unanswered questions as resolutions. This is middle-grade fiction perfection.
Thanks aunty @Victoria_Clyne
I adore how the font size changes depending on who is talking. And the illustrations! What a dream this book is so far!
This is the story of how Xar the Wizard (waiting for his magic to come in) meets Wish the Warrior. They are sworn enemies but need to work together in an effort to prevent them getting in trouble with their parents.
A great pre-teen read. An engaging story that is well-told and gripping. I'm looking forward to reading more by Cressida Cowell and I'm intending to lend this one to my niece.
@thearomaofbooks this is my April #bookspin.
Well that was convenient @Joanne1 my current read is purple.
@LeeRHarry do you want to play? How about a green cover?
So I've been a bit MIA from Litsy the last couple of weeks. So much so I forgot to update my #bookspin list for April. According to my March list number six is the Wizards of Once. Also hoping to finish my March #bookspin though it will take me some time.
Book read as part of the YouTube Middle Grade March Readathon-prompt=book with illustrations. I really enjoyed this book. I loved Wish and Xar. Their magic world was so peculiar and I loved the illustrations. I hope the mother-daughter relationship can improve in the 2nd book. But Xar's father learned his lesson. This is a beautiful edition, thank you @JoScho 4⭐️I'm not an expert in middle grade books but I liked it. I want 2nd book U.K. edition
1. I started reading earlier than at 8, my favourite place was the library growing up. There was a librarian who always put the new books to one side for me too look at!
2. Watching Baywatch/Gladiators, drawing with my fashion wheel/Spirograph.
3. Princess Diana, Brit pop bands causing havoc!
4. Most recently, My 13 year old daughter told me to read this (tagged book) I loved it, need to read the sequel now.

Happy Friday to you all 💖📚💃🏻
Here‘s #FriYayIntro From @howjessreads
1. It‘s the most fun book I‘ve read especially with the audio read by David Tennant! Highly recommend 👍🏼
2. I‘ve won two book giveaways from IG including a signed copy of Normal People 🙌🏼📚
3. Chinese
4. Too many to record 😂 more than 12!
5. 💖💖🙌🏼
Crackling with magic, adventure and humour. But it was the wonderful characters and how they bounced off each other that made this so much fun.
Today we started this audiobook (read by David Tenant) on our trip to Kyra‘s Bake Shop for some Celiac-friendly goodness. Both the audiobook and maple donut were a hit!
I really enjoy Cressida Cowell‘s books - they manage to be full of action, entertainment, and also lessons to be learned. This is the first book in a new series, following two characters as they figure out the world and their role in it. Bonus: David Tennant narrates it and he does a wonderful job! Double bonus: I could pretend it was Hiccup telling me the story since Tennant also did the audio for How to Train Your Dragon series 😂
My son has an iPod now and he can text my husband and I. I downloaded the Libby app for him and loaded a few audiobooks I thought he would like.
Looks like I win!
I mean, David Tennant is the narrator so it was a no brainer...
If you enjoy YA/Middle Grade audiobooks or have kids who do this one is so fun to listen to!!! It‘s on sale today on Audible for only $1.95. The audio production is awesome. I loved it! It‘s the Daily Deal so get it while you can!
Finished this audio book the other night while doing my daughter‘s cosplay costume. I don‘t usually read middle grade book nor listen to audio book, but this one caught my eyes since it‘s read by #DavidTennant and Boy am I glad I borrowed it from my library! David Tennant was absolutely brilliant and definitely brought the story to life. It‘s such a funny story I was laughing constantly while listening! #Brilliant 5⭐️

It‘s neighborhood fireworks season! As you can see, we are THRILLED with this development 😐
This #middlegrade book has really fantastic illustrations, but I feel like the first chapter really made use of them for plot development. After that they‘re still here, but they‘ve become a lot less substantive. I‘m only on chapter 7, so I‘m hoping that turns around. #currentlyreading #fantasy #kidlit
Next up, a middle grade book. Loving this little raven on the cover! This is about a wizard boy with no magic, and a warrior girl with something magical, who must forget their differences if they're going to make it to the hidden dungeons of Warrior fort where something that has been sleeping for a long, long time is about to wake up...
The kids and I went to the library and came home with a pretty good #bookhaul today! I nice stack for the littles and a fun middle grade for me! #raisingreaders #librarybookhaul
This was excellent and the best of the month, so far. I read this on audio narrated by David Tennant and his performance was awesome.
This is a very imaginative YA about witches, warriors and wizards and the battles between them. I love the two main characters (although Xar got on my nerves a touch) and really enjoyed Tennant's narration and his different voices for each character (especially Squeezjoos!)
Recommended on audio 4.5🌟 #28of2018
3.5/5 🌟
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick and fun magical adventure.
Of course the book is for middle grade children, but is also a great escape for adult.
I love the lessons and messages in this book. You can teach your kids so much with this story.
I think it's a great story for children to read or a bed time story you can read with your kids.
Currently reading 👏 -Drumroll- 👏 The Wizards Of Once. I was so intrigue by this book that I had to buy it. I think It's an awesome add to my collection and it's such a beautiful book.
My little puppy love staying bery close to me in case he needs something. Making sure he's taking it easy. He's doing great! He's a smart and brave puppy! ❤❤❤
I can appreciate the writing and story telling and I loved all the black and white pictures in it. The biggest detractor is that Xar was such a bratty character that he annoyed me the entire book. His personality was such a turn off and none of the other characters really called him on it. (Cowell did do a great job with the character). I also wish that witches weren‘t evil and wizards weren‘t good. Too gender loaded terminology for me.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This audiobook is so much fun! David Tennant is an amazing narrator and his voice acting and singing made this book really enjoyable. I hope more books are published and David remains as the narrator.

We loved our last book of 2017! I finished reading it to my son a few minutes before midnight which was the perfect way to end the year. Full of adventure and humor with beautiful illustrations all the way through. Xar is the son of the Wizard's leader, Wish is the daughter of the Queen Warrior, and their two tribes have been at war for a long time. But they make it past the prejudices they've been raised with and find a way to work together. 4🌟
Hi everyone! My daughter, @wordslinger42 , finally convinced me to give Litsy a try under threat of confiscating all my books, so here I am! :) The only way I could get my Cressida Cowell book back was to sign up ? I'm excited to "meet" all of you!
Oh I loved this! The story was even better being read by David Tenant and with the illustrations! It looks like the doodles in my elementary school notebooks!
Xan really grew a lot and I love the quest. Really excited to see how the King and Queen interact in the sequel. The evil King is gonna be so cool to see in the next book.
