"We were Ukrainian." I was touched by this secret Tully's mother shared as she told of growing up thinking it was a bad thing. Being #Ukrainian was not a secret in our family, but when my grandparents left "the old country" for the US they altered their last name, then advised my dad to do whatever it took to "fit in." As a result, all I have left of that heritage is food, a few traditions, & heartbreak for the people there. May #peace come soon.
I liked this one slightly less than the first in the series, Firefly Lane. It was a bit repetitive and sometimes confusing with which timeline we were in, but overall still a great book!
I read Firefly Lane just a year or two ago, and it was the first book in a long time that made me cry. I only just found out that this sequel existed, and of course I had to subject myself to an extension of that emotional torture. 🤣 It is true to the continuity of its predecessor - it has all the same feels, and (most) of the characters I fell in love with in Firefly Lane. If only I could scrub away the image of Katherine Heigl as Tully... 🙄
This was such a hard story to read. I can't say much without spoiling it, but if you've read Firefly Land, READ THIS ONE. It's such a great sequel.
My best friend invited me out tonight and I initially said yes, but then I canceled on him an hour before we were supposed to leave. I just had a bad feeling in my gut. Turns out, right where I would have parked my car is now under 4 feet of water. My town got hit with a crazy hail, thunder, lightning storm that's been going on for hours now and turned into a flash flood & tornado sirens blaring. Really glad we all stayed in. 💕
I enjoyed this sequel to Firefly Lane more than I enjoyed the first book. When I started this book, I felt that it was depressing and that Hannah should have stopped the story with the first book. But I ended up loving the characters, the details of their lives and the storyline so much more than I did in the first novel.
Fly Away by Kristin Hannah is the sequel to Firefly Lane, which I LOVED. I enjoyed the continuation of more characters from the first book and more of the story of Tully and Kate. I also really liked seeing what happened after the first book. I didn‘t love the storyline in this one quite as much as the first book, but it was still a great book. I would definitely recommend if you read Firefly Lane, this is a must!
Been reading this one for quite sometime. It's a sad book but a good one too. To friendship, mothers and motherhood🥂🥂🥂
I liked this. Not as much as Firefly Lane but it was good to see what happens to the characters. This was my #bookspin for April @TheAromaofBooks
So...I chose to listen to this book after watching the 1st season of Firefly Lane on Netflix. I have not read Firefly Lane and I‘m kind of annoyed at myself for thinking the show would be enough of the story to prepare me for this sequel. It was not! It starts with some pretty big revelations that the show didn‘t discuss (and might not as they often change things) and I was quite shocked! I can‘t say I loved these characters or how they dealt 👇🏻
Wouldn't it be wonderful if life didn‘t get in the way? Wouldn't the world be a better place if we all read, all day?😉😉😉
It wasn't written in the same style as Firefly Lane. Jarred me a tad. More of the spiritual world. It was still a great read. I found myself lost in the story. #BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
Ok, I struggled with rating this a pick or a so-so. It‘s not nearly as good as Firefly Lane. However, if you loved Firefly Lane as much as I did you will be glad you read it to see how the characters come along. I would say a 3/5 ⭐️ Oh bonus! I didn‘t cry. 👍🏻
Good follow-up to Firefly Lane. Love author‘s writing style & character development.
I‘m 2/3 of the way through this book. I really think I‘m dragging my feet because I don‘t want this story to end, the story of Tully and Kate. It‘s just a beautiful story about friendship and what happens with them after the loss. 💫
Book 15
I listened to Fly Away. I've really loved some of Hannah's books and others are misses; the discrepancy is surprising. I haven't read Firefly Lane, but it wasn't problematic; it's the same characters, grown-up. Fly Away reminded me of a soap opera. All characters have extremely dramatic, continous difficulties. I would have preferred if Hannah had focused on only one character. It was decent enough to listen to but not reccomendable. ⭐⭐⭐
I read and enjoyed Firefly Lane awhile ago but wanted to read Fly Away before the Netflix series came out. I‘m not gonna lie, I skimmed through the last part of the book.. it went on..and...on..... though I‘m a fan of Hannah‘s style of writing, I‘m not always a fan of her stories. The Netflix series is a little cheesy but I‘ll give it a chance because I‘m a Kristin Hannah fan. Next up- The Four Winds.
I thought this would be a fun thing to join! I actually just passed my Goodreads goal of 55 books so I figured I would extend my goal to 100. It‘s been awhile since I have read that much so I‘m excited to give it a bit of a push in the right direction! I would like to get 3 or 4 books completed.
This is a companion novel to Firefly Lane and I suggest you read that one first before you read this one. There is not a lot I can say without giving the story away. But this story deals with grief, all types of relationships, drug abuse, alcohol abuse and etc. I enjoy kristin Hannah and her writing thank you for another story with these characters.
Sher,
thank you so much my sweet bestie for these books and tea!!! I haven‘t read these Kristen Hannah books! You are the best!! And you even threw in a cat in the box 😹😹😹
Love you bunches!!!

The sequel to Firefly Lane is either as heartbreaking, or more so, than the first book. Even though I felt like the ending wasn't as deceptive as I'd have liked, I saw it as a happy ending, which was so necessary in a series that made me cry more times than I can count. Although these aren't my favorite Kristin Hannah books (Winter Garden, The Nightingale), it's close. She's such a fantastic author that is able to evoke such intense emotions.
Starting the sequel to Firefly Lane today. I hope it's as good as the first one, but maybe a little less heartbreaking.
At first I felt like it was "so-so" and that it wasn't necessary to read the second book of this set. However, when I finished, I realized I was dead wrong. It answered every question I had. Kristin writes yet another amazing story.
Sequel to Firefly Lane....best friends Kate and Tully: the rest of the story ❤️😭❤️

I had to break my self-imposed book buying ban. I couldn't read Firefly Lane and then not see what happens next! I didn't feel too guilty, it only cost me $5.00 from Better World Books 😁👍
This picture is pure fear to me. I hate flying in big jet planes, you'd never EVER catch me in one of these tiny propeller jobs. I'd be white knuckles the whole trip

Ha! Just noticed that @GripLitGrl beat me to it on this one, but it‘s a different cover so why not?!
