Banned Books Week!!!
I am with the #banned
Also known as my new bookmarked tbr pile. I‘ve only read two of these listed book. I think Lawn Boy will be at the top, as I‘ve heard a lot on that one recently. Best to borrow from the library so they see how important it is to share these books.

dabbe Bravo! 🤩🤩🤩 6mo

The entire Daily Show segment is worth watching (& horrifying, I was unaware of some of the legislation currently in the works in regards to challenged books) but the above with Levar Burton is priceless:

Leftcoastzen Horrific stuff ! Not LeVar , he‘s amazing! Thanks for posting! 2y
vivastory @Leftcoastzen It's really terrifying how quickly these things spiral out of control 2y

Since November is the month of Thanksgiving and we kick it off with National Author‘s Day…whose work are you most thankful for? Who is your favorite?
I know,so hard to pick just one!

I probably won‘t get any reading in today as I‘m traveling out of state and didn‘t bring any books with me.

But, my favorite author, someone I‘ve always loved the work of and someone I‘d trust to write my own story if given the opportunity is Shauna Niequist!

Have ya‘ll seen the StoryGraph app yet? It was mentioned on bookriot today. It can be a goodreads alternative, but it‘s strength is in recommendations - even for me, a hard to please mood reader. I completed a profile & clicked on some of the random recommendations they‘ve given me - and I‘ve found 3 under-the-radar books that I‘ve never heard of, and I sampled them and want to read them RIGHT NOW. It‘s amazing. Found at: app.thestorygraph.com

Megabooks I‘m obsessed with it! I love all the graphs. I‘m a sucker for graphs. 3y
atla @Megabooks ahhh! I‘m waiting for my goodreads import to go through so I can have graphs too 😍😍 3y
readordierachel I'm liking it too. Who doesn't love a good graph? 3y

The Missouri Library Association is fighting against Missouri House Bill 2044 which would appoint a “parent group” to pass into law censorship of library books. I can only hope the librarians and library patrons who fight against this censorship win this battle. #censorship #freedomtoread #ala #ireadbannedbooks

These three books won the Caldecott Medal, the Newbery Medal, and the Printz Award, respectively, this morning at the ALA Midwinter Conference. I‘m pleased that diverse characters are featured in some of these. I‘ve got Hello Lighthouse and Merci Suarez on order.

Have you read any of these?

AceOnRoam I have poet x on my TBR but must look up the other two as well... 5y
thebluestocking @AceOnRoam @Kristy_K I forgot to mention I put The Poet X on hold at my library too. I can‘t wait to read it! 5y
AceOnRoam @Kristy_K that sounds promising! 5y

Doing another workshop on banned books today. I totally overhauled the presentation from the last time (especially since the last one was just before banned books week and this one is after). Here‘s hoping I survive this, again.

When both books you‘ve picked out for Banned Books Week have waiting lists...and they both come in early. I won‘t have either for the actual week. Not sure what to do. I‘m going to have to consume these before banned books week and wing it for the actual week. #readerproblems #firstworldproblems #bannedbooksweek

Any suggestions?
