Is each Maisie Dobbs just better than the last? This was so excellent. I could barely put it down and finished it way too quickly 😢

Book 6 in the #MaisieDobbs series hits a new level of peril for both our MC as well as society at large with a madman with chemical weaponry skills on a threatening rampage at Xmas 1931 in London. Yikes. Also a higher level of govt secrecy and intro of govt agencies using yet also thwarting our Maisie. This will take her and the series in new directions, of course, but is not cozy per the usual Maisie murder vibe…
I legit don't even bother with reading the back blurb when it comes to this series. This was a super fast read for me and when I want a book that won't be too heavy but still smart and populated by characters you want to hang out with I always chose this author.
I‘m still loving this series, but this serial killer twist on chemical warfare wasn‘t my favorite. Number 5 in the series remains my favorite so far. Maisie and Billy work with higher-ups in the British government to track down a creepy letter writer. It reminded me of Agatha Christie‘s ABC murders. I loved the side story with Maisie‘s best friend, Priscilla, as she deals with some major life issues.
Wishing you all a peaceful day and a happy Christmas if you celebrate. Starting my morning with some good coffee, a chocolate croissant, and Maisie Dobbs.
Maisie Dobbs tracks down a mad scientist threatening London. Yet, she does it with compassion, unlike the government who caused the problem in the 1st place. Winspear‘s growth as a writer makes this the best one in the series so far.
Another solid entry in the Maisie Dobbs series. An interesting mystery that delves into the injustices in regards to how veterans suffering from prolonged “shell-shock” (PTSD) were treated in the UK between the two world wars. I see many parallels to veteran‘s rights in the modern day.
On another note, my backyard looks like spring! 🌱☘️🌸

It‘s the kind of Friday where I need an afternoon tea break. This brioche loaf with a fig spread is divine! I‘m drinking the last of the cream earl grey that @SkeletonKey gave me last year! #booksandtea
Hanging out at the DMV, waiting to upgrade to a Real ID. I‘ll probably be here a while. 📚
I guess I‘m not having any 🥧 tonight while starting my next book! 😂
My daughter cracks me up, I told her she could have the last slice, but not tonight. This is the note she stuck on it to prevent her dad (who is working late) from eating it when he gets home. 😜
Dessert is a serious business in this house.
Finally getting around to the #femaledetective prompt for #Booked2019!
First book from the tbr shelf since I got back from the US and it‘s carrying on with the Maisie Donna series that I was reading out there. This is very good with plenty of suspense and impending peril.
Another solid addition to the Maisie Dobbs series. This #audiobook takes a look at how mental health problems such as PTSD and grief were treated in England in the early 1930‘s. It also addresses the problems soldiers faced adjusting to civilian life after WWI, at a time of economic struggle in Europe. Trigger warning: scientific experiments with nerve gas and other agents tested on animals and humans is briefly mentioned.
I'm really enjoying this series. If you like mysteries and historical fiction this is the series for you.
#fiercefeb #criminal having an old time A&W lunch to celebrate Family Day. Maisie Dobbs is a private detective in 1930‘s London , thanks to @Lizpixie , I picked this novel at a booksale. I‘m sure Maisie will bring the criminals to justice.
Loved this book! Maisie gets to work with Scotland Yard & truly shows them how good she is! It had a bit if a ‘mad‘ feel to one of the characters and yet you couldn‘t help but feel sorry for him for all he had been put through. So glad mental health medicine has advanced so much further now than in those days!
*And I completed my Goodreads reading challenge!!!

My favorite so far!!! Maisie ups her game when she is recruited by Scotland Yard.
I'm finding myself amazed with these books & thankful my Litsy community encouraged me to pick them back up-in order! Here are my thoughts from Book 4, as I start Book 5: Trees in a forest are connected in ways we humans don't detect. Does that connection lives on in books & humans, by the paper coming from that forest as it touches us? I feel this book so keenly, speaking to me about prejudice & world hate today.
Sometimes I just like returning to a series that you know you are in good hands with, especially after reading a few non-stellar reads. I do enjoy this series. Ironically, I first found it after reading that Hillary Clinton mentions this series as one of her favorites.
I've been working my way through the Maisie Dobbs series and I love them. Great story, believable characters, and the post WWI setting combine to make these books memorable. The narrator of the audio version really brings Maisie to life.
