I really liked this, I was worried because I REALLY liked the 1st 3 books following Nevada, but although Catalina was quite different from Her older sister; the characterization (aside from being instagram obsessed &saying “I Can‘t Even”) -& why Nevada is no longer HoH- is well explained. House Baylor is out of their grace period & Catalina makes powerful allies &enemies, including some from their past. Alessandro is no Mad Rogan tho.

While I found the transition to Catalina as MC jarring (despite the intervening novella serving just that purpose), overall this was very good. I didn‘t like the 3-year jump with almost no explanation, or seeing Catalina not as the little sister but as a full adult woman with power and desires, but I‘m getting used to it. Interested to see where this trilogy takes us. #SeriesRead2022 @TheSpineView

TheSpineView I'm enjoying this series also. Waiting on a library hold for the next book. 2y

This is book 4 in the Hidden Legacy series. I have been obsessed with this series. Now I am waiting on book 5 from my library. This is the first full length novel devoted to Catalina, Nevada's sister. She has a very rare magic. She is a siren. I enjoyed getting to know her and her magic. The plot was good and very fast-paced, which I have come to expect in the series. Fun stuff! 4 ⭐️

It was a big jump to Catalina being head of her house, but I‘m loving the change even though I miss Nevada and Mad Rogan.

Catalina is a siren, her magic can get people to love her, and now as head of her house she has responsibilities in which she needs to use a magic she‘s always kept contained. When a family is murdered she takes the case and is quickly in over her head. When sexy Alessandro pops back into her life she isn‘t ready.

Rereading to prepare for Emerald Blaze later this month and I am struck by how much I love Augustine (and what an asshole he is).

Catalina's anxiety is super relatable, though.

1st book completed for the #24B4Monday #readathon and progress made in several other books

It took me a while to warm up to Catalina because she is so unlike Nevada and I missed her. But a good author illustrates differences between their characters and that's what this author has done with the sisters.

Idk I just wasn‘t feeling this book. I kept comparing Celina to Kate Daniels. And I just love Kate Daniels so much more. Idk if I would have felt differently if I started at book 1 and was more invested in the world but the magic was interesting.

So this was my first book by this author and in this world and I am here for it! I love Catalina. Seeing her try to manage everything while having Alessandro around was amazing. To see the cat and mouse game they play with each other (chef kiss). I cannot wait till the next one and need more from Alessandro's perspective. That tease at the end did me in. I will also be check out the other books too. #romantsy

And cheer up. We‘re about to embark on a killing spree accompanied by massive property damage. Try to have fun.

A siren balances leading her family business with battling rogue magical creatures. The romance is slow burn and should play out over the trilogy, so this first installment was more expository and adventure-heavy. Recommend.

Annnnnnnd Ilona Andrews delivers again!! I don‘t know where they find the inspiration for the worlds they create, but they are always so fascinating. And they are just right, close enough to reality to easily connect as a reader and at the same time so different from anything else, that you can‘t help but want to know everything. Add in a little romance and I‘m done for🙈☺️😍

I liked the Nevada series. Now the storyline has moved on to her sister, Catalina. Good plot, but I found it hard to get into Catalina's obsession for the hero. I also couldn‘t warm up to the hero. Maybe because we don‘t know much about him. I‘ve never been a fan of celebrity worship so to me, didn‘t feel real. The story has moved forward, hinting at a secret which will be revealed in a future novel. I think I‘ve figured it out, and interesting.

I 💞 Ilona Andrews! 'Nuff said😀

No, seriously though, this is a great story and a great start to the spin-off trilogy starring Nevada's sister Catalina. Even I, loyal to Nevada as I am, adored this book. More strong women in a really cool magical Houston embroiled in House warfare.

5⭐

Beachesnbooks I'm reading this now & love it so much!! I actually prefer Catalina/Alessandro to Nevada/Rogan (gasp!) 5y

I don‘t want to wait another year for the next installment!!! I‘ve been so excited to read Catalina‘s story, and IA did not disappoint! This was a great intro to her story arc.

Set 3 years after Nevada‘s trilogy, we see Catalina step up as the head of House Baylor and take over the business. It was great to see so many familiar faces and learn even more about some characters we were only briefly introduced to in previous novels.

Ahhh I really love this series and dare I say I may love Catalina and Alessandro just as much as Nevada and Mad Rogan...maybe even a touch more. This is the fourth in the Hidden Legacy series and is best read in order. Ilona Andrews‘ world building is second to none. BTW-this is an urban fantasy series with Slow Burn romance. I highly recommend. #romantsy #fantasy

This story was filled with non-stop action that included witty dialogue, plenty of danger, romance, & an ending which only promises more to come. I can‘t say I was the biggest fan of the ending because the heart wants what it wants but I‘m intrigued as to the direction the overarching plot is taking. This book is a welcomed addition to this strong series but more than that it was a joy to watch Catalina come into her own & learn to trust herself.

It was impossible to go into this book without high expectations which is usually a recipe for disaster but I was not even remotely disappointed. I was afraid that I would miss Nevada and Rogan but I honestly didn't. Catalina and Alessandro hold their own and make the change of focus onto them easy and intriguing. I liked them both so much and really loved their banter. Knowing that there is more to come in this series fills me with glee.

wanderinglynn I love Ilona Andrews. ❤️ 5y
