Bought this a while back and am finally getting into it.

#rebranding And some of us thought rebranding was a new thing.It seemed like Allen Ginsburg went effortlessly from beat to Hippie, with the turning of the pages on the calendar.Kerouac disavowed the idea of the Beats leading to the Hippies,and/or he being the “father” of both.Signet didn‘t seem to have any trouble turning Jacks books into Hippie inspiration.Found today at the book sale.

Wow - 2nd book I‘ve bailed on this evening. The next one will be the one, I just know it!

This novel still retains Kerouac's characteristic style and does not feel heavy with his lamentations about his life as a known author, as what happens in most of his other novels.

It's well written, humorous with good scenes and memorable characters.

I think it's fair to say I really enjoyed this one.

I can‘t believe how long it‘s been and what‘s transpired. As part of carving a new life for myself, I got a tattoo of a man that changed my life at 17. Flawed genius, right where I can see him remind me to tell the f*cking story.

I like these free-thinking and rebellious quotes from the iconic author Jack Kerouac because I think it's important in our lives to make sure the every day things we do isn't ALL we do and we should always TRY and do something extraordinary and also think for ourselves.

The Dharma Bums 5⭐️: I absolutely needed this. We all need this right now.
It was also really cool to read about my old stomping grounds and realize that for years I lived like two blocks away from the main characters‘ homes and hangouts in San Francisco. It‘s strange to picture him walking down exact streets and into stores that I thought only belonged in my world.

I‘m not exactly hitchhiking with a rucksack, but vacations definitely put me in a dharma bum frame of mind.

I took this book back to its homeland when we went to San Francisco last month. I took this picture in Muir Woods National Monument. That #forest has some of the biggest trees I‘ve ever seen!
I haven‘t read it yet but in the book description the characters go camping in this part of California, so I‘m assuming some of it will take place... *Update: Sources say ...on a steep mountain. 🙌

Another review that wouldn‘t fit. This book is so worth the read. 💘💘💘

1. Capricorn sun, Aries moon, Sagittarius rising. But I feel more like a Pisces or Cancer.

2. Finally applied to grad school (MLIS)! 🙌🏻

3. I‘ve started Kerouac‘s “The Dharma Bums” like, 5 times. I always like it & I always bail. 🤷‍♀️ Maybe this will be the Summer I finish!

I read almost nothing other than books from the Beat Generation when I was 19 and 20. I‘m not sure why I lost my taste for the Beat movement, but let‘s see how I feel about it now.

This book was released shortly after the Beat Generation classic, "On the Road". Although it is fiction, it is loosely based on the author's exploits with his friends. #septembowie #alltheyoungdudes #tbr

Kerouac has this way with the words in his stories that always make me want to just abandon my life and head out on a grand adventure. While it didn't illicit the great longing that stayed with me after On the Road, it still brought with it an urge to get out and see something I had never seen before. I love Kerouac's ability to create that feeling. This was a wonderful book! #JackKerouac #TheDharmaBums

San Francisco's City Lights! #getindie

This one didnt leave me with the same dire need to go SOMEWHERE - like I legit almost packed my life away and left after On The Road. Probably because he mostly talked about camping and sleeping outside and just...ew. 💀🕷🐌🐜. But the way Kerouac writes about people always moves me, and this had no shortage of lovely characters & beautifully detailed settings.

This book mentions Oregon way too many times for my current wanderlust problem.

I've always been amazed at the variety of cover art for various editions. Found this vintage beaut circa 1974 for $2 at a used book store. Diving in today.

Sometimes the only thing that helps is cheap wine from a mason jar & an old favorite book.
