This will probably be the last rainy Sunday snuggle session for me and my buddy--he's in the final stages of heart failure and we've decided that it probably will be time to take him to the vet this week. Between his illness and my grandmother's passing last Christmas, it's been a really hard 2019 for me so far--and especially lately, it hasn't been easy. so-so

This book started out nicely with some good suspenseful atmosphere, but it ended up being kind of a mess. Without being too spoiler-y, some plot points are beyond silly. My biggest complaint is about Emma and her friend Mel(?) Mel is a 9 year old who rolls her own homemade cigarettes and says things like "she's in a dissociative state." I'm all for a good precocious character but this went into the completely unbelievable territory. Disappointing.

MaleficentBookDragon I actually really liked this one. The doll was super creepy. With all her books you must REALLY suspend disbelief. 7y

I can remember buying my first Jennifer McMahon book but I couldn't remember even reading the description and after sitting patiently for some time it jumped out at me one day from my bookshelf and it prompted an obsession (Promise Not to Tell was the book). While I somehow have yet to read The Winter People and The Night Sister, Dismantled was, I think her "creepiest." It's definitely a #scaryread that needs more recognition #AllHallowsRead
