This YA horror has been on my TBR a while. I picked it up for January‘s #ReadSpooky2023 prompt. I thought it was a traditional haunted house story, but there was a twist I didn‘t see coming. It‘s a pick for me, but a low one. It‘s not a long book and I feel that the story could have been fleshed (ha!) out more. It's a YA haunted house story with an ambiguous setting: clues about the story's location in space and time are so mixed that I expected it to end as Just A Dream. But it has its moments, and the ending delivers
so-soA kind of haunted house story with a twist. Good enough that I kept reading it because I wanted to know what happens, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves a haunted house story but it‘s by no means a masterpiece. You never quite forget that you‘re reading a YA novel. #ReadSpooky2022

pickA lot of great spooky imagery and atmosphere! I always enjoy a horror that starts out with a slow burn and then goes explosively off the rails.
There were things about the setting that didn't make any sense, though. Maybe it should have been set in a different time period.
Overall good for it's YA horror genre, not quite for me, but still fun.

pickLiterally read this in one sitting. Such a fantastic book and totally had so many elements that I love in it! I always love grand manors in books and this did not disappoint. I wanted a bit more history of certain elements, but that is just me being persnickety. Definitely going to look into other books by this author! Highly recommend this one!
pickTrigger warning for self harm!
This book gave me major Sinister vibes, which I loved! I had a hard time putting it down because I just had to find out what was really going on. Super creepy and, at times, gruesome. I'll definitely be picking up her other book, Daughters Unto Devils.

panWell that was scary. I was very happy to drop this off at the library. I couldn‘t stop reading it even though it was gross and scary. Usually YA horror isn‘t that bad! And yes I am a wuss, deal with it.
pickSo i just finish this book..need it the distraction. And its amazing..so intense and it graps you from the beginning. I had never read anything by this author before but i think im going to start. Def recomend it to everyone that likes horror/mistery❤❤

picksuper creepy and completely addicting, i read this in about 5 hours today and was hooked.
not as much as i would've liked to have been. only 4 stars. but that just because of the lack of descriptions. I LOVED the plot. this book was perfect for fans of horror.
The first few paragraphs grabbed my attention. This book is not a deep read but chilling nonetheless.

Starting out my catch up month a day early with this creepy book.
First post on here and I'm feeling the Election Eve tension! So what am I doing? Snuggling with a cat and reading a horror novel! I greatly enjoyed DAUGHTERS UNTO DEVILS by Amy Lukavics, and this is her newest foray into horror. At least this is a horror story I know isn't real. We shall see how tomorrow goes...
so-soThis was just ok. It wasn't scary and the characters weren't that good. It took too long to get to the real story. It was so weird to first describe this elegant diner where people come dressed in their finest and then the food is corn or hamburgers. That was so strange. Also I think the house in the cover of the book doesn't match with the describtion in the book. These are only details but when there are enough of these it gets really anoying.
pickStrange, gruesome things are happening in this "sacred" house. Things become even stranger when the walls begin talking. A quick, spooky read.

The best part of this book is the very last page. In the acknowledgments there is a reference for Stephen King's It. Yeah, I didn't like this book so much.
I'm not too crazy about this book but I have a feeling that now after 115 pages it's starting to get better.
so-soAlthough this kept me reading and was imaginatively gruesome in places, the ending disappointed me so much that I am now exasperated with the whole book. The characters were also rather flat.
so-soI really wanted this to be good but it just fell flat for me. It had some really spooky scenes but overall was kind of bland. However, I am excited to see what Lukavics writes next!

Visited a bookstore today. My order had arrived. Women in the walls looks like a perfect book for a dark and cold autumn before the winter arrives. The other book was an interesting find. It is a collection of stories of mistakes done by famous and historical people and the consequences that followed.
pickI've been looking for good YA horror for years and finally found a fantastic author! This book was really good! It was scary and gory and quite disturbing😱👻💀

so-soSomewhere between Pan and So-so... I really enjoyed the first half- very creepy and atmospheric. The second half got progressively more absurd until a rushed ending that was just grotesque. It was almost like two completely different books.
