Paleo-biologist Jonas Taylor once dared to enter the perilous Marianas Trench, where the Megalodon shark has spawned since the dawn of time, and now that the monster is terrorizing the California coast, he must return to fight his ultimate battle. By the author of Meg.

⭐️⭐️ The first book was kind of fun and, I think, unintentionally campy. I liked it! This follow up started okay but went waaay off the rails. And it was too damned long. Now, after realizing there are 8 books (how??), I won‘t be continuing on.

I didn‘t even get a good pic of the cover before returning it to the library. Pretty sure I was reading it here … even Champ was unamused. 💤 #dogsoflitsy

🌟what utter trash of a book! I mean can‘t we get a decent shark book and not some rapey, cartoon villain nonsense.

It‘s #BigJuneReadathon update time! 3/7
🏖 Last week I read Terror in the Trench (link unavailable here, independently published) edited by Jay Alexander. I loved or liked every ocean themed horror short story in this book, some giving me the creeps. Bonus points for diverse characters, and diverse authors. Double bonus points for using all proceeds to benefit The Shark Trust!

I can now say that I have dropped a book in the bathtub 😂😂😂 Any suggestions on drying it out with minimal damage? 😳😳😳

BookishMarginalia Store it in a bag with uncooked rice? — the rice will absorb the moisture 6y
Blueberry I lay it down with a few heavy books on top of it. 6y
mcipher Stick it under something heavy - it helps smooth it out as it dries. 😉 6y

CoverToCoverGirl Oh no! 🤭🙈 6y
sixgun In my experience... I've been there more than once, dry it between two heavy books. But, if it's really saturated, fan the pages with your thumb a few times a day, so it doesn't mildew. 6y
BeansPage @BookishMarginalia @Blueberry @mcipher @sixgun thank you so much for the suggestions my friends. I currently have it sitting between two large homes and will fan it out a few times a day. Hopefully all goes well 🤞🏻😄🤞🏻 6y
BeansPage @CoverToCoverGirl IKR??? 🤦🏻‍♀️ 6y
sixgun @TheReadingMermaid Best of luck! 6y
Sweetkokoro This is the exact reason why I will never read in the bath. I am too clumsy and so paranoid of dropping my books in the tub XD. Hopefully the damage won‘t be too terrible after the tips you were given. 6y
ravenlee I only read stuff like Nora Roberts in the tub - easily replaced if I lose hold, or I can just move on without feeling like I‘m missing out. 😂 6y
athorne @Sweetkokoro This is why I bought a waterproof kindle. XD 6y

This was between a pick and so so for me. I really enjoyed MEG, and this was a decent continuation of the story. I had a hard time liking any of the characters in this book though. I can do the rest of the series in audio form on hoopla. I hope that the other books have more of a MEG feel to them, but either way I'm still a sucker for a giant shark story.

BeansPage I'm reading this one currently! 💕🦈 6y

After more than a decade since first reading this one, I have to say that it‘s overall a solid sequel with plenty of #shark action! Yes, the subplots and characters are a little over the top - but it‘s still one of Alten‘s better books! Looking forward to re-reading the third book next!!! 🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈

This book picks up a few years after The Meg. With characters we already met and a few we are introduced too and who I was annoyed AF with! Why is there always a...never mind, you‘ll have to read it yourself. Jonas Taylor is still obsessed with the Megaladon, Angel who has been captured at the Tanaka lagoon for some time; but something is about to go down - he can feel it. Fast paced and excellent on the edge-of-seat scale! 📚📚📚

Book 2 of the #Meg series was phenomenal! It's fast-paced, taking off about 20 pages in. There's always one thing after another that keeps rolling the plot forward. There were some side plot elements that I hope surface in a big way w/upcoming instalments. The science is well-researched & fascinatingly technical; it's intelligently gripping. There's less volcanology & more paleo-biology than the 1st book. 4.5/5.

I'm about 160 pages into this book and I absolutely love how fast-paced it is!! It hooked me within the first 20 pages, and it's been quite the ride so far. Even though I anticipated one of the occurrences, it was still so exhilarating to read about it. I'm definitely enjoying this sci-if-thriller series so far!! 🦈 🦈 🦈

I tried starting this at the beginning of Feb. But due to a monstrous slump I just couldn't get into it. Time to try again! This is the sequel to MEG. The story's a sci-fi thriller (w/o spoilers) about a Megolodan shark. Now that it's tasted so much human blood, it's craving more & more, & it's not the only one! Paleobiologist, Jonas Taylor, returns in the 2nd book of the series as the oceans' last hope!

This book isn't as good as the first, but still great! Steve Alten creates great characters, and the "villains" in this book are brilliantly evil. The author has a great way of weaving two storylines together to keep the reader on their toes!
