I haven‘t seen that many plays or musicals in my life, but there were some that were especially memorable.
1. My college roommate was in a production of the tagged play.
2. I saw a cool production of Richard III with my sister at the Shakespeare Theatre Company.
3. In high school I was in the pit orchestra for Carousel, so I got to know it VERY well.

This play is a favorite of mine and I really loved this audio version. Stephen Fry as Lady Bracknell was amazing and the whole production was perfectly overdramatic and silly. Listening was a great way to spend an hour or two while doing paperwork and having a laugh
I read the play for class and loved it. The wit, the humor, the irony… all of it was so good. The entire plot was comedic and intriguing. Honestly one of the best plays I‘ve ever read.
This unassuming book is also in the British Library, because it‘s a draft of The Importance of being Earnest by Oscar Wilde! On this page, Algernon announces his engagement to Cecil.

Here‘s my review for a book I just finished reading.
My 7th and final book of the 24-hour readathon was wonderful! So funny! Now I am going to bed. @DeweysReadathon #readathon #deweyoct #litsylovereads
I wanted to show off a Christmas Present and I thought people here would appreciate it! Oscar Wilde is my favorite writer, and I got this Lithograph t-shirt - it‘s comprised of the entire play “The Importance of Being Earnest”!
For my musical theater loving friends, I have watched a few of these free Streaming Musical Premieres since COVID began & have really enjoyed them.
This adaptation of the tagged play (one of my favorites!) with 60s music looks like it might be fun, so I thought I‘d share it—it‘s next Friday 9/17 at 7:00 PM EST:

I had never read any Wilde before (gasp!) and was pleasantly surprised with how funny this play is. It has definitely borne the passage of time well, and doesn't at all seem like something written over 100 years ago. It's also shockingly dirty at times, which delighted me just like it would to hear my grandma make a raunchy joke. Good job Victorians, didn't know you had it in you.
Day 12 #MayCharacters
Prompt: Matriarchal
Lady Bracknell is strong-willed when it comes to her daughter, especially when Gwendolen decides she wants to marry a man named Earnest whom she has not approved of.

IMO, one of the most amusing stories that lends itself admirably to the stage and screen.

This is one of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors. It tells the story Jack & Algy and their ridiculous attempts to maintain their fake Earnest personas while trying to get engaged 💙

This was pretty fun. It reminded me of Moliere.
Readathon hour 5. Bialetti on stove. Two titles finished so far.
It‘s been too long since I‘ve read or seen a Wilde play. So many great one-liners. And I‘m enjoying this performance starring James Marsters.
