Spending the morning with my book at the salon getting ready to go back to school!!
A few ways I‘ve been taking care of myself during this season of major change (aside from reading, of course): hiking and exploring my new town, cooking comforting meals, taking the time to fill my new home with meaningful things instead of grabbing the first thing, speaking regularly with friends, researching ways I can participate in my new community, finding future fun things to do in the area

Getting a much needed pedicure and getting in some quality reading time 🤓
Here I am making time for self care in Cancun (12/10–19; photo taken Saturday 12/11), after *years* of going without. We made our travel plans *very shortly* ahead, so it was a scramble to holiday shop and finish our work before, as well as a scramble to do our work and last-minute holiday planning after. So worth it!

Working hard on that self care #mistletoemaniacs #wintergames2021 @Clwojick
A quick okay-ish take down of the self care industry. The relationships between the three main characters didn‘t quite work for me.
I‘m not sure I need a satire on self care when my province is doing one unironically IRL, yet here I am curled up in bed reading one.
I just got this out to see how I‘m doing. Huzzah! I‘ve got two bingos! This actually makes me feel better! Thanks Eliza. I hope you are doing well, too. 💕😊📚🎶👍⛄️
Alright some more self care bingos have been accomplished with my time off for #wintergames2020 #readnosedreindeer @StayCurious

I changed “Smores“ to Hot cocoa and reading because I don't like smores.
That makes a BINGO!

Self Care Day-
5 BINGOs and I cleared the board!
Thanks for putting this #audiobook on my radar @Chelsea.Poole
This satire of social media influencer culture is hilarious! All the paid content and the fake endorsements and the phony revelations. If you find the self-care industry* humorous, this is the book for you.
@Cinfhen this is everything you hate about millennials!
*self-care is good, people selling it to you for hundreds of $£€ is bad, IMO.
Mindless Christmas entertainment!
I've read some less than positive reviews of this one so I wasn't expecting to be blown away, but it turns out I really enjoyed this #audiobook. A satire of our current culture: Millennials, "being woke", feminists, tech companies, #metoo, and the self-care industry. I thought it was a great mirror for influencer culture and the way young professionals work in America. ??♀️

I just got out of the most glorious bath.
And a BINGO!
I‘ve been working hard on Self Care this month and honestly it‘s been the best week ever. I had to stretch a little for these but not as much as I would have thought. Thanks hubby for planning a get away for us last night as a pre birthday 🎁.

This book started out really strong and I liked the characters but then I got annoyed because they all act like a bunch of doormats. And some of the plot lines just didn't go anywhere.

This skewering of the capitalistic self care industry starts out sharp and witty, causing much snort-laughing from me. But it‘s unable to keep to the standard and devolves into a mean-spirited book with an ending that falls flat. I think with a bit more work, this could have been fantastic.
“Self-care” is a fun read that pokes fun at the vacuousness and, honestly, cynicism of wellness culture and industry.
This is too much fun. 🧡 Yesterday I burned a candle. This morning my husband brought me breakfast in bed (I forgot to take a pic so all I had to photograph was my coffee mug 🤭) and I'm curled up under a blanket reading. Best. Saturday. Ever. #selfcarebingo #saturday
Oh @Chrissyreadit thank you so much for this thoughtful, sweet, generous, and perfect self care package!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 It was buried in some mail from yesterday! 🤭🤭
I‘m sooo blessed by you and your friendship, and I will definitely try to take a few minutes to reset today with some of these ❤️❤️❤️❤️ THANK YOU!! 💙💙💙💙
What‘s the color of crazy ?? Apparently a soft shade of pink. This was a nice escape from the Upside Down of reality. I won‘t comment on how it somehow still beats 2020. I really loved the attention to detail and character development. It‘s rare that you see such authenticity when “meeting” BIPOC characters ( Hey Khadijah 👋🏾) in books in supporting roles. I 🖤 the book art.... very Valley of the Dolls.
This is the story of two delusional millennials, leading an all women movement through their dime a dozen startup. You could say this story is genius as it managed to skewer a generation of self absorbed millennials, too self absorbed to know they are being skewered. The problem here is it hits the mark TOO well. I found myself questioning the sincerity of the author‘s satire she was presenting. Maybe I‘m sadly, just too old to get all of it.
Not one, but two library holds came in at once! Let‘s get cracking!
A satire about the faux feminism that is propped up by capitalism going around as wellness. I have to admit I laughed a lot but by the end was feeling horrible about everything in here.
Richual is a women-owned social media platform designed to help women make self care a priority. Maren is the overworked ambitious brains. Devin is the perfectly maintained body & face. They are BFF girlbosses out to change the world. They paint Kanye tweets on the walls (see above), hand out "Believe Women" beach towels and quote Brene Brown and Audre Lorde. But all is not perfect, in spite of what their curated (sponsored) posts might suggest.?
An anti-capitalist book that skewers the wellness industry? Yes please!
This morning I got up super early and checked out a new gym and did a workout that kicked my booty and now I am practicing even more self care by getting a pedicure!! #selfcaresaturday
