Billy Summers is another late-canon standout. Our narrator is extremely engaging, and his trade - executing hits on targets only if they can be identified as truly "bad" people - is fascinating in its own right. The first third of the book is remarkably compelling, but around that point the story takes a hard left, and the remainder is as unpredictable as it is intense. 5/5
🍏 We will have to see what an Alaskan autumn is like. We love visiting pumpkin patches, going to chili cook offs, and hosting Halloween parties, but we've been told that Halloween isn't a big deal here, and fall comes early and is short...
🍎 Unmotivated
🍏 Billy Summers by Stephen King (I'm forcing myself to read this before getting Holly) and Refusing Compulsory Sexuality
#wondrouswednesday @Eggs
Well, I‘ve now read 18 of Stephen King‘s books. Billy Summers is so good. I figured out how it was going to end but I didn‘t want the story to end at all. I hope other characters pop up in other stories.
I love when Stephen King nods to his other books. The one he mentioned is one that I‘m going to read after I finish the next two books fairy tale and Holly. #billysummers #stephenking
“Well, she says, “$&@# happens. Life is a party, and parties weren‘t meant to last.
I have 150 more pages to read. I‘m trying to finish this before Holly comes out September 5th. I still need to read Fairy Tale as well. #Stephenking #billysummers
Maybe it‘s me but I think that Phil might be apart of that plan. 🤔 #billysummers
I tried reading this book earlier this year and could not focus on it. Well, I started reading again and now I‘m focused. I like it.
Nobody told me this book was this good.
I honestly wasn‘t in any hurry to read it, thinking a crime mystery-type novel about a professional hitman wanting out of the game was not my cup of tea. And maybe ordinarily it wouldn‘t be, but King is usually a game changer for me. I struggled to get in to it for a little bit, but soon I was completely hooked on the characters and totally invested in the story. Absolutely loved Billy Summers.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
For the JUNE #BookSpinBingo I got only one BINGO and that only because of all the free spaces.

theMyster.doc was weird, but I enjoyed the stories it contained.
Here is my #BookSpinBingo board for June
#BookSpin - Billy Summers by Stephen King

@TheAromaofBooks
Not my favorite Stephen King, but still a good Stephen King. I thought it was a bit long and meandering. The ending was pretty great though.

What are you reading? 😊
Even at over 500 pages, I managed to devour this in 2 days. I found it really enjoyable, right up to the end. The end is what took it from a five to a four star book for me. But still very enjoyable.
Being of for the holidays, I'm flying through this and really enjoying it
I will probably finish it today
Merry Christmas!
Billy Summers by Stephen King will my next read. Perfect for the holidays, right? 🤣🤫
Billy Summers is the kind of classic, standalone King novel that I love. This isn't horror King, this is moral compass King. Billy Summers is an assassin with (some kind of moral code). On the surface this is a standard crime novel fully of bad guys, not-so-bad guys, victims, and not-quite victims. Underneath this, there is a social critique of American politics past and present, of suburbia, and of cultural concerns.
Just started this and I‘m already intrigued! #stephenking #constantreader
I love SK. It‘s so incredible the worlds and people and fictional reality he creates. I enjoyed this story and the characters. There were times when it was hard to get through but it was a good story.
A hired assassin takes one last job. It doesn‘t go as planned. This one was as much a love letter to becoming a writer as it was a tale about an outlaw.

I finally had the chance to read my birthday present from earlier this month. I'll admit, my feelings on this book went from love to boredom and then settling in at, "I really liked it, but it's not a top King book for me."
Surprisingly, the last few chapters of this book were my favorite. The way this story ends was perfect.
Loved this one and read in about 3 sittings! As always with King, it's all about the characters and relationships, just as much as (if not more than) the plot.
Seems like Billy Summers was a lucky charm to bring a bit of summer to Scotland in September. 🌞 Really enjoying this one.
I‘d like to thank Earl Grey for waking me up at 5:30 so I have more time to read on my very last day of vacation
This is the 1st Stephen King novel I‘ve read & I loved it! I really enjoyed the character of Billy & his mission to do one final job for a big pay day. I enjoyed it even more when Alice came into the book. I don‘t want to say too much to give anything away. Just go on this journey with Billy and you won‘t regret it. It would make a great mini series.
I‘ve just finished reading Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie.
Now onto the one I‘ve really been waiting for! Billy Summers by Stephen King 🙂📖

I usually buy SK books, but am trying to be thrifty (haha) so got the ebook on Axis360. Started it today and now I want to stop reading and go buy it. I need to own it. And touch it. And turn pages. You understand this, right? I am LOVING this one so far. It‘s just my favorite kind of King book.
For no particular reason, it's been two years since I've read a book by Stephen King. (That one was Sleeping Beauties, which he wrote with his son Owen King.) It's been lovely to dive back into some of his storytelling.
I finished Billy Summers as I was beginning his book On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft, which I'm using with my juniors this year. While I'll review that one later, I found these books to be perfect complements. ⬇
I‘ve been a fan since Carrie and Firestarter, and l love everything he‘s written. He keeps raising the bar. There are writers you are thrilled to discover and then there are writers who you run and get the newest book because whatever they do it‘s Christmas.Billy is an assassin for hire on one last job. Character driven, betrayals, twists, and a young woman with her own demons who changes Billy. Colorado touches and boom out of the park ending.
Billy Summers, a Iraq veteran turned professional assassin, a double crossing mobster and a whole lot in between.
This story just flows so well, the characters are loveable and it's just plain great in my opinion; I'd read it again.
It will be interesting seeing an adaptation put forward for this.

Not my favorite King story but still entertaining (I mean, it‘s King so of course 🤷🏼♀️). I tend to love his more paranormal/otherworldly sort of stories over the more realistic ones like this and I wasn‘t a huge fan of the war portions. I did LOVE the mentions of the Overlook Hotel (that always gives me a little shiver) and the ending was good. Keep them coming Mr. King! 🌟🌟🌟
The 1st full week back at school is always rough but this year especially. Not only have we been battling Covid/mask guidelines and getting back into the routine but the heat/humidity has been horrible. I came home every day exhausted & my reading was pretty nonexistent. Today has been all about rest & relaxation and I FINALLY started to make a dent in this book. I have a feeling it is going to be another extremely long school year.
Man, I sure loved this book. Billy is a fantastic protagonist. The out-of-nowhere, perfectly placed twist in the middle of the story (spoiler in the comment below) was just fantastic. And, since King is (in)famous for his endings, I must say he nailed this one. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Five stars for Billy Summers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I loved this book! Stephen King has done it again! 📚❤️
I was conflicted about the first 150 pages, to the point I was almost worried. But then, everything clicked. And this is definitely one of the better endings that King has written. #thriller #stephenking
Unpopular opinion ahead…
This was a fun ride about a hit man who is hired to do "one last job" before he retires. I'm not big on war stories, so those segments slowed things down for me and the ending confrontations felt rushed. Not my favorite King story, but I'm a lifelong fan so it was worth the read.
Current commute listen. Interesting so far! I went into this one blind, so I have no clue what to expect from it.
Only Stephen King could literally refer to Overlook Hotel from The Shining in his newest book and not come away looking shameless.
I‘m about 40% through this book and loving it! Anyone else? ❤️
About 1/3 of the way through and if this book continues to be this strong I can honestly say it will become my favorite King, moving The Long Walk to second and Eye of the Dragon to third. How is it possible that at almost 50 years of publishing books, Stephen King continues to create great books. The nuance and character development is absolutely flawless and I‘m completely engrossed by the character of Billy Summers.
I wasn't sure in the beginning but glad I kept going.
Slowish build-up to the action with flawed but interesting characters
I did finish on the train today- just been too busy doing other stuff to post!
I loved it, lots of flawed people and it‘s the characters that are, as always, the key and the most interesting part.
