I really liked the characters that weren't perfect. It was easy to relate to them and feel for them.
This was pretty thrilling to read, and I loved that. This also kept me guessing, really intriguing read.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Donβt judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in if you want!

Here are my possible picks for #GroupI for #LMPBC I've only gotten into mysteries the last couple of years so some of these may be ones likely to already have been read. Whisper Man by Alex North; The Child Finder by Rene Denfield; I'm Traveling Alone by Samuel Bjork or Echoes From the Dead by Johan Theorin. @rjsthumbelina @Alfrazier21 @magyklyXdelish
1. Just getting outside, playing with my kids! And I always enjoy our first spring trip to Longwood Gardens to see the flowers π»πΊπΉ
2. Extrovert, but I definitely need regular alone time!
3. 5 so far, will likely squeeze in one more.

A great Nordic crime novel. I am increasingly obsessed with this subgenre of crime fiction!
Also, if you're on twitter, come find me! Username is ames_321 - i have found some pretty great people on book twitter!
A new Nordic crime author! Picked this up at a used book sale over the weekend, it sounds fantastic.
Went to a used book sale yesterday, came home with this haul! ππ
Really enjoyed this book was a great story. I do enjoy a Scandinavian novel π

Very basic nordic noir. Didn't really stand out from other Nordic thrillers that I've read. The characters were also pretty basic nordic noir characters. It was still nice to listen to. But if I'd had to choose the next nordic noir book to read it wouldn't be from this series...
Devoured Scandi-noir in one sitting! A young girl is found hanging with a note that says βI‘m traveling alone.β All stops pulled out as police detective Munch leads his team. He persuades Mia, his former partner who is suicidal to re-join just for this case. Mia goes on instinct and her unique impressions of the clues. Riveting and intelligent, good backstories, recommend without reservations. Mia is like a grown up/maturer Lisbeth Salander!
This was my second book by Bjork and I still love these characters. In addition to Holger and Mia, there are some new characters that add a new dimension to the cast. Holger has a knack for finding the right people for his team. This quote sums it up. Looking forward to more by Bjork.
This was thrilling and dangerously addictive, I stayed awake all night just to finish this book!
4/5
I really enjoyed this. I loved the story and the group of detectives are great. I meant to read this last year but never got round to it. Wish I'd started earlier. I will be checking out the sequel!
Also crossed off my #nordicnoir for #popsugarchallenge

Some people say they can‘t even read 1 page before forgetting what happened and having to go back to the very first sentence. ME however? I‘ve always got a book in my hand π I‘m travelling alone, Samuel Bjork
I thought this book might be a bit disturbing because of the subject matter but it was not an issue. This is more of a crime procedural and the team of investigators is particularly intriguing, including one in particular Mia Kruger, who is wrestling with some demons herself making her a very interesting character. This book has lots of plot twists and ratchets up to an exciting finish. I'll be looking for the next one in the series.
I'm about to start this one as recommended by Crime by the Book but not sure if it's a good choice for bedtime reading?π³
I really enjoyed this, lots of twists, great detectives to get to know - with flaws and personalities rather than just being crime solvers! It was a new type of murder mystery as the victims were children, so that was tough going, but the story really went on a race against time to catch the baddie. I already have the next one lined up to read!
A new thriller while the girls watch Shrek 2. I already have the sequel in my TBR pile, so am hoping this'll be good! I'm about 70 pages in and I really like the detectives, so it has me intrigued so far
Halfway through and loving this book so far! #ScandiCrime #SamuelBjork #ImTravellingAlone
So it appears I have to be reading a different book on every device I own. On my iPhone it's this. Great crime story so far #imtravellingalone #holgerandmia #booknerd #bookgeek #readingmorethanonebookatonce #bestwaytogetthroughatbrpile #bibliofile #books #iheartreading

Enjoyable. The ending would have been stronger had it not been set up for a sequel. That being said, I plan on reading the sequel. π
When a box full of books arrives addressed to your wife @Anovelobsession and she says "this one's for you". :) Happy Easter folks!
I'm just about at the half way point. This book is highly readable and I think it's building toward something good. I'm glad I picked this one up.
I'm so happy with my desire to read recently. Even though I finished my section of Les Misérables last night, before bed I wanted to start something new. I'm enjoying this phase right now and will try to remember it the next time a reading funk comes around.
"A six-year-old girl dressed in doll's clothes is found lifeless in the countryside wearing an airline tag around her neck reading 'I'm Traveling Alone.'" This one might keep me up at night. I do love a good Scandinavian crime novel.
Only two chapters in so early days but so far, so good! I'm reading very mixed reviews so will keep an open mind for now, especially as my last venture into scandi crime fiction was disappointing.
I'm happy to report that my first read of 2017 was a good one - a really good one. This book is intricately plotted with well-drawn characters that the reader can become invested in. There were no major twists or turns, rather a layered work that slowly unfolded to reveal the each piece of the puzzle. Bjork kept the tension high and I flew through this one pretty quickly! I'm already anticipating the next installment in the series!
A macabre choice for Christmas, I'll admit. But this was a solid page-turning thriller, that's for sure. Really well done build up and kept me on my toes. As great as it was, the ending wrapped up a smidge too quickly for my taste (my one nitpick).
This Christmas it's just me and my books. So this solidly creepy Scandinavian thriller seems like just the ticketππ½π
This book was fast paced and definitely held my attention. The characters were likable and fun to get to know and the story line was gruesome, which I loved. Unfortunately, the ending was a bit disappointing and everything happened so fast/in a short amount of chapters but overall the book was awesome. I just wished for a little bit of a bigger wow factor in the conclusion. Overall 4 stars!
I read this in one sitting yesterday. Super addictive and well paced. The only tiny thing (if I'm being nit picky!) is that I wanted more! I wanted to know more about Mia, more about the team & their interactions, more about Holger, more more more! I already preordered the next book.
DON'T MISS THIS READ. (It deserves the all-caps.) this is a stellar US debut for Bjørk - a layered, complex plot, disturbing central case, and female protagonist who would make Lisbeth Salander proud. I LOVED this book.
