This is a compilation of short stories and novellas. It was interesting to learn more about the characters and locations from the main books.

Finished! Now on to The Lost Metal!
Some stories were better than others (as all anthologies), but Emperor's Soul, Secret History, and Edgedancer we're my faves. Everything added to the overall cosmere, and the in between notes were really really interesting to see.
Optional cosmere read but rounds out other stories. Would recommend if the background & science of the magic appeals to you.
Finished both Sixth of the Dusk & Shadows for Silence in the forest of hell. Both interesting! Very different cosmere stories! At the moment they're pretty stand alone, though Sixth of the Dusk highlights the interesting "chickens" shown in Rhythm of War. I don't think there are other connections (yet) and I have a strong guess as to who the sky people are. Interesting stories but not central to the cosmere yet.
Just finished secret history and I hope there's a sequel!
Gave a view into the afterlife and shadesmar from a different planet (Scadriel). If you finished Bands of Mourning and the epilogue had you wondering, wait what? Read Secret History (it's in arcanum unbound, but also elsewhere). Required reading if you wanna get the full picture of the cosmere.
Going through this to get the Mistborn stories and just finished The Emperor's Soul. It's a nice, tight short story that really leaves me wanting more about Shai. Set in the world of Elantris, you can really see how much Sanderson's writing has improved since Elantris.
It‘s my birthday!!! 🎈🎂🎈🎂And I had a fun package delivered today. So let‘s unbox some birthday book mail.
And yes. It‘s another Brandon Sanderson book. 🙈Obsessed doesn‘t even begin to cover it. But in my defense I have to read a short story from this one before I start The Lost Metal.

I was super excited for this letter because I get to showcase two of my favorite authors EVER! V.E. Schwab and Brandon Sanderson! 😍💕📚 I actually just got my downstairs neighbor to start reading The Stormlight Archive! He was in the library the other night looking for something new to try, and Zi raved about it so much he ended up leaving with the first book! 😂📚💕
Really good collection of short stories of all the cosmere worlds! There are so many spoilers in most of them, but there's so many little hints and secrets that you might not get in the full books. Highly recommend it.
Time for cake! 😋🎂💕
Birthday dinner at my favorite restaurant! Mmmm, yummy hibachi! 😋🍛
Finally got around to reading this. So good, really adds a lot of texture and excitement to the cosmere. These short stories have such rich world building and brings some clarity to certain aspects of the cosmere. I am a little sad that he says he won‘t continue a lot of those stories as they leave me wanting more!
March's Book Haul.
Does anyone know where I can find more information about the #CosmereAlong ?
I keep hearing about it, but I can't track down any concrete information.
The longest book I read last year was Arcanum Unbounded - this was mostly a reread as I‘d read the majority of the short stories in there before. The Adventures off Gentleman Jack and Khriss‘s comments on the star systems were new to me though.
-
This year I want to check off a few chunkier books that have been lurking on my TBR for a while so I‘m gonna set my reading goal a bit lower at 50.
I don‘t feel that short fiction is Sanderson‘s forte, but this collection is still well worth reading if you‘re an established fan. Seeing so many facets of his Cosmere laid out in one place really hammers home the interconnections between his many, many chunksters. I‘m excited to keep reading his novels with all this in mind.
A chronology note: I wish I‘d read “Mistborn: Secret History” between the two Mistborn series. Don‘t be like me.
I finished Stag Head #2 while I reread THE EMPEROR‘S SOUL on audio. I appreciated the novella more the second time through. Reading so much of Sanderson‘s shorter fiction in a small time frame has made all the Cosmere connections really obvious and intriguing and fun.
Also, making two customized head mounts in a short space of time has hammered home how often I use the skills I learned in Grade 7 Graphic Arts. Thanks, long ago teachers!
I forgot to share yesterday‘s library haul: one movie, one comic, and one enormous short story collection. I thought I‘d read most of the stories in ARCANUM UNBOUNDED, but it turns out I‘ve only read three—and since I finished WORDS OF RADIANCE this morning, I can tackle all the new-to-me stuff without fear of spoilers.
I had to wait to finish this until I read Elantris, but it was incredible. So many awesome worlds in the Cosmere Series!! Now I join the wait for more Cosmere books.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Last post for today I promise 😅
I have been making my way through this a little bit at a time! I really enjoyed the tales from the Mistborn series as well as The Emperor‘s Soul! I had to skip Hope of Elantris because I didn‘t read that before this 🤦🏼♀️
Such gorgeous endpapers! #fantasy #cosmere #sandersoncosmere #shortstories #novellas #compilation #tome #chunkster
I can't believe I'm this far behind in my reviews. I've been on a Brandon Sanderson run and it is too hard to tear myself away. I'm a third of the way through Oathbringer now. I went out of "order" on the Cosmere series although you can do one or all the series and it won't spoil anything. Just make sure you don't wreck anything for yourself by reading an Arcanum Unbounded novella out of order.
I have been in awe of Sanderson‘s Stormlight Archive books, and vaguely aware of his bigger universe.
The books Elantris and Warbreaker, the Mistborn series, the Stormlight Archive series, and his White Sands graphic novel series are all set on different planets in a galaxy Sanderson has dubbed the Cosmere.
This #bookmail will hopefully give me some insight into the worlds other than Roshar and how they are all connected.
I was pleasantly surprised that there was more than one story I hadn‘t read previously in this collection. More cosmere is always a good thing.
Have I mentioned how much I love Brandon sanderson‘s cosmere? The magic systems are amazing, the subtle interconnectedness of the different series, and the level of detail—there are maps of each solar system, not just regular maps of the significant landscapes—easily make this one of my favorite fictional universes
One down, nine to go. I‘ve read many of these already, but there are a couple, including edgedancer, that I haven‘t read before. Plus I love the cosmere so I‘m always happy for some rereading.
So...I finished the Edgedancer novella - ❤️💚🧡💙💛💜
I‘m going to start The Oathbringer next because I can‘t wait. I‘ll read the rest of Arcanum Unbounded once I finish The Oathbringer.

“Surely someone will want it. It‘s a book!”
“Lift, books have value based on what is in them.”
“I know. Pages.”
“I mean what‘s on the pages.”
“Ink?”
“I mean what the ink says.”
She scratched her head.

So..I was going to start The Oathbringer tonight... and then I discovered that I needed to read Edgedancer first (part of this collection)😳... so here we go...

I'm so enjoying this short story collection. It's really interesting how each world is prefaced with a solar system map and historical prelude written by another race who catalogue the world's and are starting to tie the cosmere together.

My favorite thing about this are the detailed maps of each solar system in the Cosmere universe along with an overview of the qualities and peculiar aspects of each written by a certain world-hopping side character that makes brief appearances in many books (no not Hoid). No longer does "the Cosmere" feel like this huge place I don't know enough about.
"Edgedancer" and "The Secret History of Mistborn" important to future events.
I had already read a lot of these stories and enjoyed rereading them immensely. But most of all I loved the ones that were new to me. Edgedancer and Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell foremost among them.
The last of the books I read while sick. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but most of the stories were wonderful. It was nice to re-read "The Emperor's Soul", and to have a chance to read "Sixth of the Dusk". #readinglog #sciencefiction #fantasy #shortstorycollection
I have slacked off so terribly on these this month. But here's some lovely #endpapers for #januaryreads.
Those end papers 😍😍
This book so far is amazing, although to be quite frank, I've read a decent amount of his cosmere novels already, and so I'm already attached to his characters, and I'm really biased about how incredible Brandon Sanderson is at writing.
This is my Christmas book haul. Plus, my dad built me a GORGEOUS bookcase!
Great short story collection from my favorite author. The Emperor's soul is just fantastic!
I would only recommend this to people who read most of Sanderson's work, because the short stories here contain spoilers to the Mistborn series, Elantris, and the Stormlight archieves.
#latestbookishbuys was today where this hardback beauty arrived 😊 I've waited so long for this printed version, because I don't really like to read ebooks

@RealLifeReading
Really enjoying this book so far. I've read many of the stories in other forms, but there are enough new ones that it was still worth picking up. Also, I love the embossed symbol on the cover.
Soooo excited for the new Cosmere novella included in this collection. Will be starting over Thanksgiving!
