I‘m not going to lie and say I understood everything this book was trying to say, but it‘s interesting how relevant this book still is. I could see how 1984 and other dystopian novels pulled from it.

Ruthiella I could definitely see what Orwell borrowed from it. 1d

Even though the tagged book was written in 2018 and set in 2045, it so nailed the 1980s for me. I loved it. And it‘s been much longer since I‘ve read Eleanor and Park, but I remember really feeling my generation‘s vibes.

Thanks for the tag @TheSpineView ! 😁

Wow. Just... Wow. This book was dark, unsettling, and dystopian. But it was also fascinating, philosophical, and deeply human. This is among the best speculative fiction I have ever read.

Meh. This felt not so different from The Circle, just more of cyber-corporations getting more ludicrous and digging roots further into every aspect of humanity. It‘s a tense read, funny and scary at the same time because it‘s easy to see the parallel with reality.

I‘d definitely say #borrowdontbuy but also I wouldn‘t say you‘d miss much if you skip it.

RaeLovesToRead I've got this and still need to read it. The Circle was terrifying and genius. 2d
Soubhiville @RaeLovesToRead I really liked The Circle too. This one dragged for me though. 2d

Devoured this! Wow. Now I need all my friends to read it so I can unpack all of the major philosophical points! This was a perfect blend of thought-provoking, let-me-chew-on-this and easeful, getting-lost-in-a-good-book vibes. It‘s such a big concept (a world of immortality) but Shusterman has an answer for everything. I loved the characters and I‘m so excited to see where the series takes them!

EKonrad Loved this series! Still think about it like two years after reading it. 😊 3d

1) Yes, I'd say there are a few.

2) first to come to mind is Harry Potter, but for obvious reasons I'm not tagging it. My second choice is tagged.
