#ReadingWesteros will return in January with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
Figured we could use the time to focus on Holiday reads or, you know, the Holidays themselves. 🎄❄️🕎

Ok, I know people are working on their December TBRs, & I think we have a couple people still making their way through Fire & Blood.. do we want to break until January? Plan for December? I heard this one is more light hearted & fun. Probably just do a weekly check in for each of the 3 novellas. Last official Westeros book! Lemme know what you think!
5-7 Apr 24 (audiobook)
Three novellas telling the travails of hedge knight, Dunk, and his squire, Egg around the Seven Kingdoms.
A welcome reminder that George RR Martin really is a very good storyteller and I enjoy the world he has created in the Fire and Ice series.
I expect the scope of these novellas is a welcome relief for the author in contrast to the original series which has become far too unwieldy. Both Dunk and Egg are lovely.
A delightful book of three stories about a Hedge Knight and his "squire." Fun fast fantasy read. 3 ?

As Mr. Martin seems unlike to ever finish the game of thrones series, I read this one to fill the loss. It was good but not great, like his others. It lacked the character depth and plot details I expect from him. Allegedly this is only part one but we know how George is with sequels. Satisfied my need for a GoT update.
Enjoyed this way more than I thought I would, loved the duo Dunk and Egg and I can't wait to read more about their adventures in the future.

“He would not sleep himself, but sat by your side with your sword across his lap, in case someone tried to do you harm.”
I had to read this twice because the first reading was so forgettable and I want to read the sequel. The second reading of this was only marginally better. The narrative is really boring, somehow you get through ⅓ of the book and nothing has happened. I was surprised considering how engaging the song of ice and fire novels are. Definitely not his best work.
March reading wrap up.

A prequel to the Game of Thrones books, I really enjoyed these 3 tales of Dunk and Egg. And the illustrations are really wonderful!! Guessing this will be my last book of 2019!
Three stories about an unlikely Hedge Knight and his unlikely-er squire as they bumble about Westeros. Set a century before the GOT series and before Sir Duncan the Tall was a legendary Knight of the King‘s Guard. A quick and fun read. Too bad GRRM takes a lifetime to put out a new book because I‘d love to read more about this chivalrous duo.
My review for a book I just read. I miss reading the book series A Song Of Ice And Fire. The next book I want to read next is The Science Of Game Of Thrones which talks about Game Of Thrones from a scientific point of view. I think it will be interesting.

Rating: 7/5 stars.
Dunk & Egg. Need I say more?
This is my first try of a fiction audiobook. I still prefer non-fiction, but this was very enjoyable. The narrator was very good at giving all the characters distinct voices so it didn't feel like a dry reading. I hope Martin plans to tell more of Duncan & Egg, I'd like to read more of their adventures. 4 💥💥💥💥
1. Tagged, plus NFL Century, Everything is F*cked and The Long Way to A Small Angry Planet.
2. Not sure, maybe the sequel to The Long Way...
3. Mythos by Stephen Fry

The man can write a good story!!!
This was alright. Nothing ground breaking, and a bit repetitive at times, but it kept me entertained while driving to and from work these last few days 👍
Week 5 check- in for #BFC #bookfitnesschallenge
I'm back from vacation and back on track this week!
Goals:
Workouts - 5 of 4 yay!
Books - this week 8 (31 of 20 overall)
@wanderinglynn
Feeling good about today #BFC friends! Now that it's summer I can go to CrossFit in the morning, then I headed out to the farm to help pull weeds while I finished listening to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
Just finished rewatching the whole series in prep for this weekend 🐉 🔥 ❄️ 🐺 Cannot wait. This book is a nice venture into Westeros 100 years prior to Thrones. It‘s actually 3 novellas about a hedge night and his squire, Egg. All true fans know who Egg really is which makes this book special.
Books from yesterdays thrift haul! I was excited about all of them, until I got them home and read reviews ?
The top 3 are apparently either very politically biased "history" or not informative, so those are a bust.
Merrick by Anne Rice
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George R.R. Martin
A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin
My Life by Bill Clinton
Decision Points by George W. Bush
(I am trying to read books by/about each president)
I know it‘s not “The Winds of Winter” but I really enjoyed these three novellas of Westeros. I got easily sucked in to the adventures of Dunk and Egg! “The Hedge Knight” was my favorite story.
I thought these hit the mark for the novella format in that they did not feel rushed or undeveloped to me.
As always, the Targaryen family tree is mind bending and I may have had to consult an actual family tree to try to keep them all straight 😂
Prince Daeron is apparently not the fiercest Targaryen there ever was 🤣

Patiently waiting for the final season to air in April! ❄️🔥
One of the best parts about having an Amazon household set up with my mom is that sometimes she just comes across books and buys them because I‘ll be able to get them on my Kindle too... like this one!
She has never read or watched Game of Thrones but saw this for 2.99 today so she buys it so I can read it. (I assume it is on sale but I don‘t actually know...) She even wrote “happy reading” when she texted me to tell me she bought it 😜😃
While I really want him to finish GoT, this was a good collection of stories about a few characters in the past. I would certainly read about Eggs some more!
Starting this tonight! I checked out Fire & Blood from the library, so I figured I should tackle this one first.
It‘s a collection of 3 novellas during the Targaryen reign, taking place 100 years before the events of ASOIAF book one, A Game of Thrones.

Thank you to @Sophoclessweetheart for my GoT goodies. I‘ve already started Beyond the Wall and it‘s fascinating so far! Thank you to @jenniferw88 for organising.

Been waiting all day to open as had to be in work very early this morning!
How cool are all these 😁❤️ thank you Tatiana - the mask books are so cool - we‘re pretty rubbish at such stuff in our house but we‘re going to give them a go!
Haven‘t got any of the books and all the goodies are awesome.
Thanks Jenny for organising such a fun swap.
Such a sweet set of stories about Dunk and Egg!
I wish there were more (although if I get to pick, I would like you to finish the actual ASOIAF series first please George R R Martin).
Egg aka Aegon is serving as squire for the Hedge Knight Ser Duncan the Tall. As they serve no particular lord day to day, they often find themselves under the stars with only chewy salt beef. Yet their comradery helps get them through.

The illustrations in this book are rather beautiful 😍

Hot chocolate, a selection of biscuits, and The Hedge Knight.
What else could you want on a rainy Sunday?
This was a fantastic read. I was initially worried in case it wouldn't have matched to A Song of Fire and Ice style/standard of writing but I was actually blown away. The detail and characters were beautiful and it made reading this book perfect for 'filler' during the dreaded wait for Winds of Winter. 😅
Getting drawn into the world of Game of Thrones and I‘m loving it.
